The Gulf is shallow and will bring in huge waves. People live too close to the water.

Storms are not unexpected. Don't build near the water.

Build back Hurricane STRENGTH. Build higher off the ground.

Thank goodness everyone's primary homes were just fine though. must be hell losing a vacation home right on the beach.

Well most of these home were built long before the building code changed back in the early 90's. Now all the homes have to be made out of concrete blocks and be required to withstand something like a 130 mph winds. A wood home is not what you want in FL. I would not even buy one or would I buy a manufactered/trailer home either.

    Praying for the families 🙏

I own a second home in Bonita Springs, FL. Now, it's my daughters primary residence and she is really the primary owner. That said, I don't think this property is near as expensive as SW Florida. Also, these homes would never pass our building codes in Bonita Springs where our exterior walls are 1 foot think concrete. These folks have been living on the edge I'd say. They've gotten away with these stick structures playing Russian Roulette. Their time came up. No insurance company is going to insure them. There's still some backwoods folks in Florida. My place survived Hurricane Ian.

Man if you can afford a house homestead and a vacation home on the beach you probably can hire somebody with dumpster and bobcat and a grappling machine i dont think nobody is going to come with all that equipment for free

  • @kathybalkenbush3027

    So sorry for your loss!!!😢

Brook was standing in front of my Grandma Tina's Home. Long time resident. She used to sit on the HSB Council. I played with my cousins all over HSB when we were little. Grandma survived and rebuilt after Andrew and the Storm of the Century. Idalia seems to have picked up where those storms left off...

wow 68 years. in that area. it's why i would seriously worry if i were to ever live in that state. yeah, they were fortunate to have 2 homes. but, it doesn't mean that they can't suffer. can't ride out every storm. that state constantly has residents like tornado alley in the midwest...every year.

  • @mikerollo8653

You can tell the older couple probably can build two new vacation homes if they want to

  • @willieknows2708

Prayers 🙏🙏🙏 To All Effected By ADALIA.

  • @robertdavis7755

I live in Florida, what hurricane? It stirred up a bunch of water

  • @jimwilson7364

Feel bad for the people but you knew when you moved there that it was gonna happen sooner or later

  • @robertbranton9311

How horrible to lose your second beach home. Those poor people have to stay HOME on the weekends right now. Glad no full time homes were damaged.

  • @Aikynbreusov

What you see is the holly sign that Mother Nature wants you all out of her beach...

  • @Amanda-ek4kk

I'm sorry but with all the homeless people out there its really hard to feel sorry for wealthy people losing their vacation homes. Truly sorry for those that lost their primary homes though.

  • @noomoon2833

They have round 2 headed to the same area! That's terrible 😢!
