    Hello. I wanted to draw your attention when you say that the MX Keys mini keyboard does not have PgUp, PgDn, End, Home keys, this is not entirely true, although the solution is not entirely obvious. In order to use them, you need to press the key combination Fn + up arrow, Fn + down arrow, and so on.

    Nice review. The small arrow keys of the mx mini (non-mechanical) are actually a standard layout found in many laptops, and in the apple magic keyboard too. It is aesthetically very nice, but also very practical when combined with the fn key on the left hand.

    • @NonLegitNation2

      TBH I kind of hate the look of the keys on both. There is way too much going on. I wish they offered a Mac version and a Windows version so then they wouldn't have to have each OS's different characters on the keys. Having so many different characters just makes the keyboard look messy.

    Strongly agree that Logitech finally chose the normal 75% layout. I don't know why MX Keys Mini wanted to learn Apple Magic Keyboard with small arrow keys and no page up/down keys. It is not every design decision made by Apple is right and Logitech should have its own taste out of common sense.

    I have both of these keyboards and after typing on the MX Mechanical Brown Switch, it blows the MX Keys away. The typing experience on the mechanical is so satisfyingover the chiclit style keys. I'm not concerned with how loud it is, but the brown switches proved to be perfect for me.

    • @mikegreen2214
      @mikegreen2214 Před rokem +3

      I have both, and I find the mechanical version (brown switches) pretty underwhelming.
      The MX Keys is about as good as a membrane keyboard gets, while the feel of the MX Mechanical is nothing special by mechanical-keyboard standards.

    1. If the mechanical one is more recent, doesn't mean it replaces the other.
    2. You cant't say they target the same audience just because they have similar dimensions. One is very slim, minimal and silent, while the other is taller, more noisy and more geeky.

    • @NonLegitNation2
      @NonLegitNation2 Před rokem

      that's what I was thinking. The mechanical and the regular MX keys are two different keyboards. The MX Mechanical was not made to replace the MX Keys it was made for people who want a mechanical keyboard. Now if Logitech was getting rid of the MX keys and replacing it with the MX Mechanical then he would be right, but they aren't doing that.

      Great question! One of the top pre-builts that comes to mind would be the Keychron K2: www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-wireless-mechanical-keyboard
      For $69 you get a full aluminum frame, Bluetooth 5.1, and the option to use it wired. For a slim profile, the K3 is what you'd be after: www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k3-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?K3&K3
      Although I've used them in the past, I don't currently have them any more. Maybe I'll pick up a few variations and do another comparison. :)

      @@techbytes4988 Hey. I just picked up the MX Mechanical full size. I really love it. I also have the Keychron K2 V2. I think the Keychrons are excellent alternatives. They are much cheaper but I think the overall performance and quality of the MX is better. The Keychrons go to sleep and take a second or two to reconnect. Switching devices takes a combo key press and also takes a second or two longer than the MX. These are small differences and might not justify the price premium.
      Anyway, this was a nice comparison. Thanks

Mine seems to have the ability to disable the auto-sleep after 10 seconds (press and hold a couple keys for 4 seconds), and the function layer lock could be turned off/on to make switching devices a single key press. For Mac it's an OS tweak, but for Windows there is another key combination that toggles it.
      I do agree though, the changing of devices takes an extra 2 - 3 seconds where as the MX series was almost instantaneous.
      Anyway, thanks again for the feedback! I should hopefully have the new video up in the next couple of days!

    IMPORTANT NOTE, the Bolt receiver DOES NOT work with most Logitech wireless products. For example, you couldn't use a product that uses a Unifying receiver with the Bolt receiver, it just won't work, it will be detected by Logi+ but the wireless keyboard or mouse won't actually work. It's the same with the Unifying receiver, you can't use products intended for the Bolt receiver with the Unifying receiver.
    I'm a bit torn. I'm looking at both keyboards today and the Mx Keys is $120 while the MX Mechanical is $180. I have a really hard time justifying paying $180 for a keyboard though, but I really love the feel of mechanical keyboards. Right now, I'm using a Logitech K800 wireless keyboard and i also really like the key feel of that but the overall plastic build quality just feels cheap. Another thing to consider for me is that the MX Mechanical uses the Bolt receiver, I already have a MX Master 3S mouse which also uses the bolt receiver so I could free up a USB port on my PC. I think I'm going to end up getting the MX Mechanical.

    I bought the MX Keys Mini + MX master 3S - and I am replacing the mac-mini keyboard and mouse - and I am using FLOW to move from iMAC to Windows 11 laptop, keyboard 'follows' mouse. Therefore I do not need to change assignment (just iMAC and WinPC need to be in same LAN). So the coursor and keyboard controls follow from one to another. Regarding the keyboard, I am almost shocked - I own Lenovo P51 laptop too - and this keyboard has really good 1,5mm travel! This keyboard is great, this concave for fingers - woow. I never was so interested in such 'boring' thing as a keyboard, but ... wow. Mouse, this can in software disable 'rattling' of the wheels, and 'smooth scroll' is available then - great! In my country - mouse + keyboard + tax -> 225$.
