  • This weekend, F1 is in Budapest for the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, but who will come out on top around the Hungaroring? Can Mercedes make it three wins in a row? Could Max Verstappen and Red Bull get back to winning ways? Or will McLaren take their second win of the season? In this week’s preview, I take a look at the track, go over some stats, talk tyres and make some predictions. Plus, Toto Wolff on Mercedes’ chances, Haas extend Ferrari partnership and Helmut Marko on Sergio Perez’s future.

    Do you think Sergio Perez has just two races left to save his Red Bull career? If so, what would be a good couple of results (Hungary and Belgium) for him to be kept on for the rest of the season?

      I do think it's 2 races and then goodbye. Even if he had two top 5 finishes which seems unlikely it doesn't change the fact that he's slow, inconsistent and a bad qualifier.

      Silverstone was the first time I didn't hear Horner speak to Checo on the radio after a race. As much as I like Checo, it seems that RB has made their decision already. He'd have to win the last two races, for them to possibly change their minds.

    Given that the Williams has lost its top speed in favour of being better in slow and medium corners, they could do really well this weekend. The Hungaroring is almost all corners, barring the main straight which will be their Achilles heel if they can't keep a big enough gap to the following car because of the DRS. It would be fantastic to see both of them get some points IMHO.

      @kevinn1158 Před měsícem

      @@sameermohideen4913 agreed but he showed speed at Redbull. Honestly Gasly showed talent as well. Sadly I think they are giving Checo time because Max doesn’t want a fast driver in that seat. So Carlos was blocked.

    • @sameermohideen4913
      @sameermohideen4913 Před měsícem

      @@kevinn1158 I doubt Max would care. Red Bull probably doesn't want to deal with teammates crashing into each other and drama every race weekend. It's probably why Alex, Pierre etc would either not get the seat or wouldn't accept an offer. Neither would be happy with being 2nd Driver, both could potentially have had the speed to be occupying the same piece of tarmac as Max. Alex had some unfortunate incidents during some very good drives and Gasly wasn't given much time at all. Both could have proven a headache if they were given the same leniency as checo

    In Hungary, we believe that the RB team will unleash the full potential of the amazing RB 20 where Max will easily win and Checo will regain the form he had during the first 5 races, this season.
    Based on the last 14 laps of the Silverstone race, Max proved that RB team still had the fastest car 'on track' and would have easily won the race if he had another lap.
    Why?? As Hamilton was only 1.4 seconds ahead of a flying Max, with DRS, and had to overtake to back markers, which would given Max the win.

      @tetstazMolloy Před měsícem

      Did u actually watch the race the only reason max nearly caught Lewis was due to the strategy by red bull. of cause max is a phenomenal driver but that was due to mclaren and merc going to the softs even piastri was flying on that stint. The first stint max was massively of the pace when all were on the same tyres.

    • @midas7394
      @midas7394 Před měsícem

      @@tetstazMolloy Surprise!!! We did watch the race. Judging by your comments, you could not have been paying attention to the race, as it unfolded.
      As you know, Max's long history shows that he always pushes to get & retain the lead asap.
      Knowing Max's driving style, in Silverstone, why do you think Max clearly did not challenge for the lead until after the last pit stop?

    • @mashkoorelahi

      @@midas7394 cause he didn't have the pace bro I was literally at silverstone. lando messed up on strategy Lewis did well but couldn't push as the softs went . If u watched oscar was doing the same times as max if lando went to mediums he would have won but u cant see that as ur max tinted glasses wont allow u.And won't every driver want to get the lead not just max, why u acting like only max wants to win.

    • @midas7394
      @midas7394 Před měsícem

      @@tetstazMolloy Ha-ha. All drivers want to win but Max has a unique, aggressive way of getting into the lead.
      As you know, statistics show that Max's approach only started after the last pit stop.
      After the last pit stop, Max eliminated Lando 7.5 second lead & then opened up a 7.5 second gap which proves he was much faster at the end.

      He doesn't have to win, he just needs to be the rear gunner for Max. And should Max DNF/DNS, he should be picking up the pieces. Merc, Ferrari and McLaren usually are running together, their drivers closely matched, so if you're leading, it's usually not 2 against 1.
