    Hey, I just wanted to ask about accommodation. Is there a significant fee difference between uni accommodation and the private ones? I was thinking that uni accommodation makes it much more easier. But if its way too pricey, I would have to go for the pvt ones. Also, where can I find the pvt one? Hope you reply❤️

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před rokem

      All accommodation options are good. I had friends in both private and university accommodation, and they were happy, mostly depends on your preferences.
      University accommodations normally have bundled packages with Wi-Fi, furniture, electricity etc. In private options, you might have to check for all amnesties separately. A good bargain are privately offered student apartments in the city. You can search for them using keywords : student accommodation studios etc. in Reading, always look for distance from campus using Google maps.🏬
      I think rightmove is a good webpage as well, for bigger apartments. Of course, if you plan to stay longer than University term better to find a private accommodation already. My tip: If you end up choosing University accommodation, I would steer clear of Wantage Hall, it’s quite nice for a tour but not the best offering!
      Finding accommodation is always a pain, but hang in there. Wish you lots of luck!

      Hi Aishwarya! Congrats on your offer! :)
      I live in the university accommodation, but I think some of my friends use "rightmove" website for private flat search and also some of them live in "unitestudents" studios. You can try these pages, call them and see :) Also, I remember that the latter offers housing in several locations across the town. So, don't forget to check the location distance from the Uni campus on google maps and explore the best option for you. All the best!

    Hi, nice video! I‘m looking for a good master’s degree school and came across Henley Business School. Do you think that it would be possible for me to commute from London (South Kensington area) to Henley? Or should I look for an accomodation near campus?

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety

      Hi Cassy! Happy that you liked the video!
      I think it will take you about an hour and half one way to commute from South Kensington to Henley, maybe a bit more or less depending on your exact location. In general, from Reading to London paddington station tickets are around 25-27£ one way. So, have a think, if that's something that works for you. Also, for my course we have classes round about 3-4 days per week on-campus, but then there are group works etc. for which you might want to come or you may choose to do it online :) Hope this helps! All the best for your applications!

      Thank you! and That’s great news! Congratulations I was not aware of the Foundation program so far, just had a look online and it looks quite informative and core-focussed. It should strengthen your skills.
      For housing, I think, feel free to look around, both on- and off-campus. I don’t have much idea about off-campus living, but most of my friends live off-campus and they seem to like it quite a bit. Just use Google Maps to check the distance and transportation from the housing you like to the campus. All the best! You will do great!

      Hi Victor Ebuka!
      Yes, the university has a whole agricultural department, if you simply google search : University of Reading Agriculture course - the first few links will lead you to the agriculture department's homepage.
      The department's official name is (I think) : Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics. Courses include, animal sciences, agriculture and food economics etc etc. They also offer Masters by Research, PhD and other degrees. I hope it's helpful.

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety +1

      Congratulations on your offer!
      University life is quite nice, lots of activities, events, career fest etc. The student union of the university is quite active and helpful in all respects. They organise lots of events as well. There are tons of places to eat on-campus, including a super market. Its located very close to the City Center (12mins by bus). Library is quite huge, with lots of books, Reading spots for individual and group work, also has its own cafe. Reading is 30mins by train from London, so you can easily go there and explore. Reading itself is a small town, with a cozy city Center. Can’t give you more details on food sciences as I am not enrolled in the program. Part-time jobs are available on-campus (one can access university’s job portal once registered as student) as well as off-campus (‘search via google). Of course, work hours while studying are restricted, so have a look at those. Hope this helps. All the best!

    Hey ... What's the scenario of employability and please give feedback of University...... Can we get part time job in surrounding area?

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety

      Yes, you can find jobs both on-campus and off-campus. Once you register as a student, you get access to on-campus jobs portal, where you will have access to all kinds on jobs, and of course, the usual Google search will be your tool for off-campus job search. As an international student your work hours will depend on the type of your residence permit (typically ranging around 20 hours per week). With that in mind, you are free to take up as many jobs as you like. But, too many work hours can be a hurdle for studying properly, so good to optimise work, studies and relaxation for a healthy balance. :)
      Employability data is a bit hard to find due to COVID struck previous years, but I think among the surveyed people its relatively good. All the best! :)

    Will university of reading accept students with gpa 3.0 for masters program with a 8 band IELTS score?

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Athulya Raj,
      For most masters courses Henley business school (UoR) accepts a minimum of 2:1 or its equivalent from international schools and IELTS score of 6.5, with no section below 6.0.
      For specific and accurate requirements you can write to, postgraduate(at)henley(dot)ac(dot)uk , because in exceptional cases your other strong qualifications might support your application. Additionally, the admissions are on rolling basis so, it also depends on the application levels received along with yours.
      I quickly googled equivalent of 2:1 for Indian Schools and according to Quora it's 60-80%, but it's just google search results. Do refer to the admissions staff for exact information.
      Hope it helps! All the best :)

    Hey, i just got the offer letter from Henley icma centre in msc finance.
    I have some doubts regarding accomodations
    Shall i go with private accommodations outside the campus or with the university’s accommodations
    Can you suggest?

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Congratulations on your offer! ICMA is one of the best institutes in the country.🥳 For the accommodations, I would recommend having a look at both depending on your needs. Pros of Uni halls include:
      Walking distance to the campus (10-15mins),
      All halls are furnished, have free wifi, electricity, water, heating, community rooms, workout space etc. facilities included in the rent. Other than that, you get to have flatmates (if in a shared accommodation) from the uni, more chances to participate in engaging events, lots of shopping centres and cafés are also present etc.
      Cons will be many halls don't put up the pictures of the rooms, so you don't know how they look beforehand. I definitely insist that you see the halls you choose once before.
      I live in the Halls so don't know too much about living outside, but some of my friends found accommodation using the top websites on Google search and are satisfied with their housing. Pro of living in the city is that you can extend your rent agreement after the academic year, in case you plan to stay longer, but in the Halls you can't do that normally. However, when living in the city, you will have to arrange for different facilities, such as wifi, heating, depending on your rent contract.
      I hope my reply helped you a little bit in understanding the accommodation situation. I wish you all the best!

    Hey really trying to get into the Uni for a Msc , any tips on the personal statement essay?

    • @fishandphoton
      @fishandphoton  Před 2 lety

      Hi Mulwa Kitavi!
      Its a great question! I think the application letters are really personal and should portray your desire to attend the particular course, the university you are applying to and how they align with your future career aspirations. Here are my quick tips:
      Write about your experiences, highlight the different types of work you have done. Don't underestimate any work, internships, everything you have done counts, your part-time job, your volunteering work, all of it has made you into the amazing person you are, so highlight that in your letter. Think about your hobbies and add some flavour to your application. Relate it to your future goals and tell them how does the course you chose helps you in achieving that.
      Don't make stuff up, as people who read your application are experienced and have been through tonnes of applications. They can read through what's genuine and what's not (unless you are super-skilled at writing ;) )
      So, be yourself, highlight your experiences, display your desire to be a part of the school and I am sure you will do a great job!
      All the best! You got this :)
