I've said it many times and I'll say it again. Rubio is one of the most underrated PGs in the world, and his work with Spain and the Suns prove me right.
Not to mention his tenure in Utah and overplaying Westbrook in their playoff series
He was even better at the Jazz he literally carried the team in 2 series

He is so good to watch under Spain because wherever he goes, he has someone to pass on due Spain good spacing.. He cant do that in the NBA because set plays are different. Coaches rely more on players athleticism, speed rather than to use players IQ and skills.

That's the main reason why some basketball lovers from out of the USA enjoy more the fiba game than the NBA. Of course I'm amazed watching Curry, Durant, etc but we usually miss strategy, smart game...
People forget that he ie only 28 years old, soon to be 29 years old. He could still improve and become an All-Star level player. Steve Nash did it in his late 20s into is his mid 30s. We write these guys off too quickly

People also forget those knees. It's a real tragedy that he suffered such complicated knee injuries when his career was only blossoming. His progression really suffered from it, and then the lack of trust put on him by Minnesota did the rest.
But he's an elite passer, great defender and while he'll never be a top class scorer, he's grown to be enough of a threat that defenses can't sag off him anymore (and if they do so, they do so at their own risk).
I'm just glad he found the right place where he's appreciated, trusted and loved.

the only thing that was a question with him was a reliable go to jumpshot but it seems like now he's fixed it. Everything else is world class, handling, IQ, passing etc

I hope Rubio does more back in Minnesota. I'm on their bandwagon because I'm a D lo fan, but I always respected Rubio. Those Jazz teams especially that 2018 team was fun as fuck and he really showed why he is a good player. I feel like he has faded and while he didn't live up to the superstar hype after these years I believe he can still do something great with the Wolves. He can really help that team with KAT, D lo, Beasley, Okogie, and the rookie Edwards do something better than before.
He seems more mature and just that OG that can play even if he isn't star. Rubio can really be like a poor man's Rondo or what Sam Cassell was for the Wolves for my opinion. I feel like he comes off the bench this season but he can close out games and help this team succeed the best they can. Such a fun player who always had and will have amazing talent. I think his game can translate even when he is older. If he can continue to keep that shot going, be solid on defense, and use his IQ, guy can help a team win.

You haven't seen this world cup. Rubio was the best scorer, best passer and more efficient player of the champion team. Marc was great against Australia in the semifinals. But I think Rubio was better in the entire tournment.
You dont know Basketball my friend, youre just lookin at the stats. I actually wached every game and saw how they ran every pick&roll through him. He was also their defensive anchor and playmaker on the offense. Take a look at the games and you see that he was their playmaker on both sides of the Court.

NO!!! He did not win a medal! Nor did he get his team past the quarter finals! And in my opinion an Australian deserved his all star 5 position! Australia actually got to the semi finals & to the bronze medal game as well! Plus the MVP award was clearly between Ricky Rubio & or Marc Gasol!

Pero creo que algunos no entienden que el MVP se lo tienen que dar a un jugador de un equipo que haya logrado algo en un campeonato.
Sólo recuerdo un MVP de un mundial que no haya sido campeón. Nowitzki en Indianapolis. Y claro...al menos esa Alemania de Dirk fue medalla de bronce.
¿Podía salir el MVP de la Francia de este mundial?. Si Fournier o Gobert hubiesen hecho unas buenas semifinales y un buen partido por el bronce... Pues sí; Pero no fue así.
¿Podría salir de la Argentina subcampeona?. Estos sí que tienen un mérito tremendo. Pero, claro... Les pasó por encima España y sus candidatos (Scola o el Facu) no estuvieron bien en la final. De hecho maquillaron algo sus números en el último cuarto. Más el Facu, que creo que hizo seis asistencias en el último cuarto. Sólo se les vio algo cuando los árbitros les dejaron apretar por encima del reglamento en ese final de partido.
Bogdanovic no optaba al MVP desde el momento en el que su equipo cae en cuartos. Y probablemente ha sido el mejor jugador del mundial. Pero no puede ser MVP un jugador de un equipo que colectivamente fracasa. No creo que un jugador de un equipo NBA que no entra en playoffs pueda ser MVP de la regular.
Creo que el MVP de Ricky es merecido. Diría que le hace sombra Marc, por su exhibición contra Australia básicamente. En números los dos contribuyeron de forma similar. Desde cuartos ambos promedian 19 puntos, Ricky 8 asistencias y Marc 6, y en rebotes Ricky 6, Marc 5. Creo que Marc disputó más minutos...pero ambos fueron clave en el oro de España. Yo se lo daría a Ricky porque en el cómputo global fue más regular. Incluso en eficiencia fue el mejor de la selección. Lideró casi todos los apartados estadísticos del equipo. Vamos...que no le han regalado ese MVP.
