  • Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep have always done EVAP systems a little bit differently. In this class we go over all 3 of the common systems, how they function and how to diagnose them when that pesky check engine light comes on.

I'm also here on the recommendation of South Main Auto, trying to isolate what's causing a P0445 & P0442 code to be thrown on my 2001 Jeep TJ. I already replaced the gas cap, a rotten steel line above the driver's side rear spring mount, and a cracked rubber hose plus a deteriorated rubber elbow up at the purge solenoid. After watching your excellent presentation, I'm fairly certain I'll be buying a new LDP (which, of course, is the most expensive part of the EVAP system, haha). The 4.0 has about 50k on it, the rest of the Jeep has 220k, so it makes sense that the LDP is simply worn out. Thanks - subscribed and am looking forward to learning more from your very concise content.

Nice to see Eric O from SMA sending people over for an in depth dive on Chrysler EVAP system .... you both are awesome, easy to understand an overly complicated system

Thanks for your good wishes and prayers, thanks to The Almighty we're ok and today is the day I got internet service back so I catched up with this seminar. Again, your efforts to teach us to understand vehicle systems is greatly appreciated.

Excellent video. You guys are absolutely great and knowledgeable at EVAP systems and I want to thank you for sharing that knowledge. I have been having a pretty annoying issue with my 12' Ram Big Horn. I have a P0441 that will not go away. I have pulled the purge solenoid, bench tested and determined that it was working properly, but I put a new one on for a week anyway. I also smelled faint gas at the cap and felt it to be somewhat loose and lanky so I replaced it. I pulled the ESIM, found the weight to be a tiny bit sticky and also only gave me about 7 ohms before the weight would open. There is a simple delco fuel tank pressure sensor T'd into the evap hose next to the filler neck Dodge calls an evap fuel leak detection valve, I replaced it too. My scanner reads live data that jumps pressure from -7400 pascals to +7400 pascals almost all the time and other times it stays solid..... help me please? this thing is driving me insane. What can I do? thank you so much in advance for your suggestion(s). Nick

He just answered why my 2002 Focus Purge has a vacuum line going to it. Ford used these up through 2008. The vacuum line is ONLY there for when it is running a test!
