Glad you are safe Greg. Mossy is a magic guitarist and vocalist. There aren't too many bands who can push a vocalist like Ian Moss into the background but Barnesy is that good. The beauty of Chisel however was that they recognised the talent that Ian has, and they ensured that he got the limelight too. I actually got to see Mossy sing live as a solo artist when 17. He was the headline act at the local Blue Light disco, and most of the kids then were not that aware of who he was, except those like myself who were Chisel fans. This was when he was trying to kickstart his own solo career.

I got a little discouraged yesterday. After I recorded this video I kept on checking the news about every half hour. Each time I did the death toll had gone up again.

@@kazz3956 Yeah, it seems like every time I check the news, the death toll has gone up. I've thought about showing a little of the footage of some of the bigest ones that hit our Oklahoma City area. We had two EF-5's that hit Moore @ 10 miles north of me), one with record winds of 300 mph and the El Reno Tornado, the widest ever at 2.6 miles wide. There were a few years there where it felt like Oklahoma City had a big red X on it. Add that to the Murrah Federal building bombing where 168 people were killed, we had a rough decade or two.
I sooo love this song by the very talented Ian Moss who plays guitar fabulously, sings intensively and interprets brilliantly. Regarding the gun culture in the USA, have you seen the live comedy show by Australian Jim Jeffries, on You Tube, who also lives in the USA ? Australia and the UK lessened its gun culture considerably after mass gun murders by passing stricter laws. Australia bought back guns and destroyed them in an amnesty. I could never live in a place like 'Tornado Alley' in the USA. Australia has its devastating bush/forest fires but we usually know the scientific understanding of the conditions for them and the path they will take. This usually, but not always, helps to keep us safe and protect property.
The thing with Cold Chisel is that Jim & Ian compliment each other so beautifully….. Jim with his power and Ian with his beautiful vocals & guitar playing….. and out of this band came 4 solo careers….. that’s how talented they all are.
In 1979,when it was still easy to get into pubs at 16, my mate and I were the only 2 people to show up for their gig at a pub in The Rocks (the very oldest part of Sydney. I made the fatal error of attempting to go to the bar during this song. The bar staff shooed me away til the song was over. It was a fantastic night, with a private gig and shenanigans with the band to follow (too much shenanigans because I ended up vomiting on Jimmy's brother in a club much later that night!). What a time to be a kid! I'm so glad you are safe Greg. Please keep us posted!
Summer Moon is another great track where Ian Moss is lead vocalist in a Cold Chisel song. I suspect every album he done at least one or two tracks as lead.
watched him quite a few times when he played sydney small wine bars like Pleasures in kogarah(1975-7).. the band those night were on for near 3 hours.. brilliant
I’m not even Georgian, and this song makes me well over with love and pride. This song, and this performance, they are just magical. It’s the type of slow song I’d have ignored in my teens, and missed all the nuance and complexities, the talent and sheer beauty. I hope it was a moment of peace for you on a sad and troubled day.

Great moment caught by the man on camera. I suspect this was never in the original movie concert release called The Last Stand. But I heard the audio of this when I first started listening to Cold Chisel. Think it on the live album called Barking Spiders Live. I wore out the cassette tape I had that one on. Probably my favourite album to listen to as a teenager in the mid 80's. Also, thanks for the continued updates on what happening there with the storms. Ian Moss is a very underrated talent. He is a great singer and guitarist. He has just got natural talent no other way to say it.

I also just love how happy it makes him to perform, and the feedback he gets from the audience. He can't stop smiling. He's enjoying it so much.

We always know when the atmosphere is primed but from there it's all pretty random.
