Where I Purchased - About 20 miles from home, someone’s garage.
Price Paid ~ $180 (~ since it came with other speakers)
Condition - 85% (not included in the Average Guy Hi-Fi score)
This subwoofer is in good shape but there are some marks on the cabinet.
Quality - 7.5
This is a very nice subwoofer, especially considering the cost. My main gripe is the tech vinyl material they used to wrap the cabinet. It looks nice but it’s easily scratched. Another minor complaint would be a power cord that doesn’t attach.
Other than that, the woofer is very high quality along with the amp, cabinet and the grill, where quality is most important.
Bass - 8.0
Nice deep and punchy bass. It hits the lows with clean authority and maintains its composure, all while using a 200 watt RMS amplifier and costing less than $350.
With all that said, I did find it a little on the bloated side, when compared to some of the much higher end subs that I’ve been reviewing. This is expected as you could buy 4 - 5 of these subs for the MSRP of some of the other subs I’ve been testing.
MSRP Rating - 8.5
I had to double check as I though for fire the MSRP would have been more than $349. This an outstanding price, especially considering the performance!
Aesthetics - 8.0
Again, I like the looks of the tech vinyl and obviously the copper woofer but I know this is super subjective.
Price Paid Value - 6.5
This is definitely a great value but I usually like to pay 50% or less of the MSRP, when it comes to used home audio gear. That’s generally speaking of course, as some brands command higher prices.
This was a good deal but I’ve had much better deals, especially since it can be had new for ~ $229.

For Subwoofer crawl, I put the sub in the seating position then move around holding a balloon between my hands. I can sometimes doubt my ears but coupled with the tactile response of feeling the bass in the balloon, really helps with optimum placement.
That's very interesting. Thanks for the tip
I had this one, it is a nice one, I was never disappointed by Klipsch
Great video. Just set up my Andrew Jones Pioneer’s this week, which is a huge upgrade from my 20+ year old Bose Acoustimas I had. Keep up the good work, most CZcamsrs will tell you the first 1,000 subs seem to take forever, them you blink and you have 5k. Keep delivering great useful content, and they will come. Love Youthman’s channel but I don’t have that kind of money or space, so second hand is very useful to a lot of us out here. Stay safe. Cheers from the Jersey Shore.
Thanks for the great video Dustin, A suggestion: in the video provide a chart showing speaker ranking compared to the previous ones you reviewed so viewers can know where it fits relative to others and what is comparable value
Bought a klipsch sub at a goodwill (my mistake) worked for about a few months til it died but I was wowed by the bass from it. Just bought this sub and man it shakes the whole house.
The price is hard to beat, for the money. It really does pump out the bass.
I keep hearing about these killer deals everyone is getting at Goodwill. I might have to start stopping my local thrift stores..
This sub for the price is a great deal! Can't beat it for $150! Your channel rocks! Keep up the good work!
I love this channel. Srsly, you are doing great. Keep up the hard work.
I like your reviews! Keep em going!
Hey, thanks! I’m going to keep plugging ahead, with improvements being made along the way.
I truly appreciate the support, my friend!
So refreshing to hear someone that just says his thoughts! Not a bunch of test results and graphs! Just using your personal experience. I love it!!
I am thinking that too many average folks out there are getting caught up in the details, which can suck some of the fun out of this great hobby.
I just try to shoot people straight, in hopes that I can help save them some money and make them a little more educated when shopping for home audio gear.
I’m having fun making these videos and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it, my friend!
3.5k subs now. Great job.
Hey, thanks! It’s been nice and steady growth, which is so much fun to watch.
Thanks again, for helping support the efforts!
Man you deserve more subscribers, thank you very much for such a detail and clear review. I got this subwoofer, not big fan of its switches it feels flimsy, other than that is really good. I got it at $320 in Mexico where its MSRP is above $400.
Thanks! I’m really happy with the channel growth, after the first 9 months or so.It’s been a ton of work but it’s kept me occupied, during these strange times.
This is a nice subwoofer for the money, no doubt about it. I’m very impressed with what they were able to do, at this price point.
Thank you for the kind words!
Great review! I just bought 3 of these for $150 a pop. What a great sale! Gonna work well in my two channel room, and bedroom. Not good enough for my main system, but still fantastic.
looking back... good move!
Got one of these the other day on Facebook marketplace for $60 & I am thrilled... could not pass that deal up... I almost felt bad taking it off this lady’s hands for that little...
There have been times where I’ve felt bad about a deal being too good. I’ve even told folks that they have stuff priced too low. When I’ve done that, most of the time they appreciate the honesty but are still happy to sell it for what they posted it for. Most folks are just happy to see it go without too much hassle.
With the internet at our fingertips, people could just do some research first, to make sure they aren’t leaving any money on the table. Seems most just don’t care, at least in this area.
Congratulations, $60 for this sub is an
outstanding deal!
A fellow godzillla fan 😁 great review!! Just ordered this, can’t wait to blast it!!!
I have one and love it. Just ordered a second one!
It is a great sub for the money, especially with all the holiday sales going.
Congratulations on the new addition! Dual subs is the only way to go:)
@@blazermdx duel is nice i run 4 of these double stacked
@@blazermdx im trying to buy subwoofer but I can’t decide between klipsch R-12SW and the Dayton SUB-1500. What do you recommend I want something that will maybe rattle my window.
I got this sub for $170 new at Costco. I have seen this as low as $150 once in December. It hooked up to a soundbar. It made a huge difference.
This is one of the best sub values out, under the $200 mark. Those Costco sales are pretty nuts.
This video is one of my most watched, due to the Costco sale. Haha
It is $150 until 4/4 now...
I was impressed with the emotiva basx series didn't know about them,I can only imagine how good are xpa series
Costco has these for $189 this month. Absolutely getting a pair!
A pair of these is very hard to beat for the price!
Thanks for sharing that info, I’m sure it will help someone shopping!
I saw this too, I have a Pair of Pioneer SW-8MK2 wondering if i should upgrade now at Costco? is it worth it? I heard Klipsch isnt good at the Subwoofers... PS I have a full Kilpsch Set 450c and K-8000 FR and FL
There’s no doubt about it, Klipsch subwoofers aren’t as good as their speakers and some models have amp issues. There are also better subwoofer brands out there.
With that out of the way, this is a great deal on a good sub. If you have been happy with those Pioneer subs but you are looking for an upgrade, you’d be hard pressed to beat this deal.
Big upgrade from your Pioneer subs. If you make the switch, make sure you go duals again.
This is a great deal!
@@blazermdx thanks for the info bro, been going overboard already whats an extra $380 :/
Richard Reynoso i hear you there, my man. Haha!
Nice job once again Dustin. If you see this before you create your next video regarding how to search out deals, maybe you could talk about what to look for and avoid when you’re scoping out some speakers. I had a pair of Polk RTiA7s I almost bought, when the seller slipped and admitted he had modified the crossovers!!!
That’s definitely great feedback! I will incorporate that angle as I bought a pair of Klipsch speakers that didn’t sound right, turns out the previous owner redid the crossovers:/
Thanks again for the tip!
These are 149 at Costco right now Thank you for the review
ON Amazon also...i got a way better sub..but i got the Klipsch Cibema 600 sound bar, that has a sub out..so for this price..i got 2 of em...
My costco has them at 200 not 150. Wonder why. I still got 2 plus the rest of the klipsch speakers
@@justinstephens72 they went up to 250 then back down to 200. I think they are trying to get rid of them.
I have the new Klipsch subwoofer and it really digs deep in the movie department. The finish is a much nice and very very durable compared to the model you have. Btw, i managed to get a full 5 Chanel surround sound system for 420$ when msrp is 4500$!
You and I think alike, haha! That’s exactly the type of comment I was hoping for, when I started all of this.
People would be shocked at the amount of money you can save going open box or used. That $420 investment probably has you quite pleased:)
I have this sub and I payed 159.00 at Costco website. I love it this is so powerful. I'm getting into klipsch and this is great awesome.
I currently have the R-112sw and the ProMedia 2.1 sub as 2 subs for a home theater. The 112 is solid smooth and refined down to 25 Hz and really SHAKES the couch and my entire room, and the ProMedia slams really hard. Together, they're the best of both kinds of bass, and this R-12 model may replace the ProMedia if the amp overheating becomes a problem, which the more nearer field placement should help take care of. IMO, 2 matching models of really any sub can only cover so many kinds of bass by themselves. When the budget allows, I might add an SVS PC 2000 pro to extend the response down to the infrasonics, while still keeping the punchiness of the Klipsches to enhance the lower midbass with the SVS together👍
Costco has it right now for $149.99 after a $100 discount. Price is good until 11/19/20.
i bouth it 3 hour ago
any costco ? i live houston
Wow do you like it?
It’s an awesome subwoofer for the money. No doubt about it!
I’d say that anything under $200 for this sub is a killer deal.
Just hard to imagine anything beating it at that price, without going used.
For anyone who doesn't know, Costco has a 30 day price match guarantee, so you can submit for a refund for the difference. I've done it before and had my money back in about a week.
I have 2 of those but the wireless version and I love it , good punching bass on movies and music , my living room is not so big so this sub make a good job , I looking for the third one to complete my subwoofer set up. the best part I got open box on ebay for 140.00 dollars
Good microphone, my office sub was shaking the walls.
I appreciate the feedback! I’m planning on upgrading the microphone at some point but it’s good to know the one I have is working.
Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment, I truly appreciate it!
Hi from Nevis. Caribbean island Great subs im running 2 of these paid 195 each on Amazon New Dec 2020 standing like 20 feet away OMG love the bass....
For the money, I honestly don’t think you could have done better. Well done!
Out of curiosity, what’s the weather like in the Caribbean, at the moment? I’ve always wanted to travel there but I keep coming up with excuses on why I can’t take the time off work:/
its windy now for the pass weeks but its always mostly clear skies 83 degrees with a tropical breeze im originally from Anguilla . but I moved to Nevis a few years ago.....when u ready to travel just let me know its beautiful down here. Can easily do 3 to 7 more island including Anguilla from Nevis ....
this is a very good subwoofer it has very good bass i like the way it sounds.
Could you do a video on recommend movies, keep up the great work👍
Great video bud
Thank you, my man!
Just got one for home. So far so good. I have one at work too, paired with the klipsch "the sixes". That is a great pairing. :)
I’ve always wanted to try the Sixes. I’ve heard so many good things about the sound and I just love the mid-century style.
I bet those speakers, with this subwoofer, sounds very good. Well done!
@@blazermdx I do wish they matched the same horn of the RP or even RF line. But outside of that it’s worth the sale price when you can get them. I added an SMSL m500 DAC too.
I have it setup in my cubicle. Such overkill LOL! It gets you through a day.
I’m with you!
Polk and Emotiva gear in my office. Might as well be happy in the room that affords me all this gear in the first place. Haha
Where do you work where u can have a 12 inch sub lol
@@BigDavos our office is off the beaten path. Unfortunately, not for long. But, while we are away from the rest of the execs.
I picked one from Costco I love it
bought it today myself at costco's website for 150 plus tax. Going to try and pair it with a Klipsch R-10SW. I have a 2-row media room with a tier. So I'll place this one diagonal in the back of the room (or flip them). It will give me a 5.2.4 setup with my Pioneer vsx-lx303 receiver
Congratulations on the new addition! Dual subs is definitely the way to go, if you have the room. It will take some time getting them setup correctly but once that’s finished, you’ll be rewarded with more output and more consistent bass.
When does it arrive?
I currently have two of these suckers, and they are great for the price!
They really are fantastic for the price! I think two would be more than moray people, in most rooms will ever need.
Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Hey how deep is the bass on a single one of the?...please and thank you
im listening to thin on my promedia 2.1 and the r12sw i play them both at the same time using a jack splitter! :)
Hi... just discovered your channel and subscribed. Like how you make things easy to understand. I have a question about the r12sw... I ordered (2) of them as part of a 7.2.4 system that I am building out. With the GAIN, the starting point should be the 12 o'clock position, but since I am using (2) subwoofers, should I set the GAIN to the 9 'clock position and go from there? I like bass, but don't want it to the point that it angers my wife when she watches Disney+ downstairs in the living room.... lol. Thanks for the help and the great vdeos. I ordered my Klipsch stuff mostly through Costco and some from Amazon/Emotiva:
Klipsch R-625FA Tower Speakers x4
Klipsch R-41M Bookshelf Speakers x2
Klipsch R-52C Center Channel Speaker
Emotiva BasX 7 amplifier
Denon AVR-X3700H receiver
Another great video Dustin
Thanks again Sal!
I’m actually working on another video at the moment. Going to be beginners info about center channels.
@@blazermdx - the other day I picked up a Klipsch RP450C for $250

A pair of Klipsch Dolby Atmos R-41SA $200
Klipsch center speaker RP-450C $200speaker
Klipsch bookshelf R-41M $150 (I didn’t want floor speakers)
5.1 Klipsch Quintet Synergy (4 satellite and a center speaker with a 12inch Sub) $200 (will be using the satellites as surrounds speakers)
Denon AVR X4200W $500
And I just order another Klipsch 12in sub from Amazon for $220
Just waiting on some wire and RCA etc and should be setting up soon. I’m excited and nervous. I never had a home theater system before. Not bad I got it for $ 150. This sub can get loud 🔊.

$149 at Costco now. Useful to see a review of it before buying. 👍
Just a killer deal at that price. I’ve been recommending this sub like crazy. Can’t be dear for the price, period.
Thank you for helping the folks out there, save some money. We all thank you!
I just bought one from Costco at the $249 price plus I added a 2 pack of R-41M Bookshelf speakers for $89. This is my first time experience with Klipsch but have known about them for about 20 years.
Congratulations on the new sub! Hey, it’s a bit of a long shot but if I were in your shoes, I might call Costco and see if they will honor the sale price they had last month at $169.
$249 is still a good price for this sub but $80 is $80. Haha. Again, it’s a long shot but Costco is notorious for treating their customers fairly. Still a good price if they aren’t willing to budge.
Congratulations on the new sub!
They just went back on sale today. Go get that price difference :)
@@Qazxswer68 Thanks, I'm in the process of calling Costco.com.

Do you have a webpage where you list all the subs you have reviewed, or all the other equipment. I am looking for a new sub and would love to see all the comparisons you have done to help narrow down
Klipsch theater pack can be had for 269 and this sub 149 r51m bookshelf 179. Bad ass atmos system with a 8 and 12 in the sw department
I like my Bose 700 , small bass module and way way louder than the sonos which I bought aswell and returned next day ended up buying another Bose 700 for my room and now am looking for a klipsch subwoofer for my back yard patio but size is alitle too big so I wll go for a 10” instead
If you are planning on putting the sub outside, I would go larger vs smaller, since you are losing any potential room gain. That’s if you have the room, obviously:)
Outdoor subwoofers are next level, haha!
Costco now has this on sell for $149 in my area right now.
Same here, ordered one today to go with my denon dm41 system👍
I fell in love with my first little Klipsch sub-the Promedia 6 1/2" so I was keen to buy the 8" Heritage Promedia sub but wow what a disappointment it was, even though it's bigger and heavier and much more expensive than the smaller sub, it can't touch it. Klipsch says the smaller Promedia sub goes down to 35hz and I believe it but the Heritage sub doesn't so anywhere near it's purported 29hz
That little heritage setup seems like a of a disappointment, to be honest. I don’t have any hands-on experience with it so I’m holding out judgement a little, I just think they should have used higher quality parts, if they wanted to use the prestigious Heritage nameplate.
With that all said, I loved my Promedia setup, back in the day. That reminds me, I should review it:)
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us!
@@blazermdx Recovering audiophile Andrew Robinson has been bugging Klipsch to release a heritage sub for a while because of course their Heritage Line really lack deep bass in spite of their pricetags so when Klipsch same out with this lame little excuse for a subwoofer he just laughed
Good stuff. Do you have a record with the scores of all the products you've reviewed? Doug score vibes :)
I’m starting to get pressure from folks, which is well deserved, to come up with a leaderboard. I’m just not very good at computers, which is holding me back some. I’m definitely working at some things in the background, which will improve things.
I’m a big Doug fan, that’s kind of what I’d like to emulate, without copying.
Thank you very much for the suggestion, my friend!
Average Guy Hi-Fi make sure to compare the subs against each other. Let’s say if you did a review on a svs sub previous and you just did a review on a similarly price PSA subwoofer, make sure to tell which one you’d prefer because it is really hard to put a rating on subwoofers, there are just too many variables.
Hiya,
I purchased the reference series 12" R120SW 400W sub for $190 sounds great to me.
Anytime you can get a sub of that caliber under $200, you are doing quite well.
Congratulations on the new sub and thank you very much for taking the time to comment!
Just bought this sub at Costco for $150. Killer deal.
Me too!
Picking one up tomorrow basically new on offerup for $135
Did you pick it up yet? That’s a great deal for this sub.
I would love to hear your initial impressions, if you have some time:)
Question
I just purchased the klipsch sixes.
Apparently, the klipsch fives automatically send the lower frequency to a paired sub.
But the sixes don't.
So should I pair a sub to my klipsch sixes?
I run a 7.2 setup all Klipsch reference speakers. 2 R120 subs that are priced on Klipsch home page for 499 and I got the for the 249 price. 2 R820 towers which I got both for the price of 1. 1 R52C for the center. And 4 R41M for the 4 surround channels and I am very impressed with how they sound. My theater is completed with a 120 inch screen.
Those are all very good deals, nicely done!
120” screen is only something I can dream about, since my place is so small and I’m only renting at the moment. One day!
Thanks for sharing those deals!
Newegg just had these on sale for $149.
I bought two of these, for the rear subs in a 4 sub system in our theater. I am extremely pleased with this, as it performs great on sound tracks, and also will do a decent job on music. Price paid? $169 at Costco. A steal!
At $169, I literally believe this is the best subwoofer deal available. I’ve heard $169 and $189 at Costco so I’ll have to check and see what my local Costco has them listed for.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I hope it helps someone save someone out there some money.
Enjoy your new subs, my friend!
I had two in my cart and the price is back to $249 🤨
@@brianleggiero Klipsch had them on sale for $199, Costco had them for $169. But now (as of today) back to the $250 price. Glad I snagged a pair us these!
They go back on sale today for $169 at Costco. Picking mine up finally
Did you a get a receiver yet?
Decent price/sub. Hard to find good value subs in that 200-300 range. What I've done, in the past is wait for closeouts and buy a 450-500 dollar sub for 200. Good enough for HT.
That’s really the smart path, if you don’t need to have the latest and greatest.
The value of this sub is very hard to beat, especially at close out prices.
I almost always buy last year’s electronics, to try and get the best deal possible. Unless the incoming gear has some features I feel I need.
A good choice in the $200-$300 range would be either the Dayton Audio SUB-1500 or the BIC America F12. If you can up it to closer to $400 then the RSL Speedwoofer 10s will outperform them all with ease.
Great deal
This subwoofer is definitely a great deal, especially on the used market and during sales, like Costco is currently having.
Hard to beat this sub in the “best bang for the buck” category.
Thanks again for helping support the channel, Nana
Putting rear ported speakers against the wall creates more bass but if you have thin old walls, it can rattle and sound like crap. If you have good sturdy walls. Put the subwoofer close to the wall. You'll thank me.
Does it Distorted at high volume I want to get one but just don’t know because I’m a basshead and love bass
Hello! friend. I would like to know if this klipsch subwoofer has deep bass?
Hey man! I would say this sub has good output for it’s price point but I wouldn’t say it has deep bass. I would consider sub 20hz deep bass and this sub gets down to 30hz.
Nice just got it for 180 at Costco!
The Costco sale was awesome. Congratulations on the new sub!
I'm new to the home theater scene. How does this sub hook up? Do i need a receiver or can just hook it up to my sound bar? Thanks for your time
Same how does it hook up.
It has its own internal amplifier with a low pass crossover, so a receiver is not necessary. Does your sound bar have a subwoofer output? Or any kind of output at all?
Thanks for chiming in!
Yes, does your soundbar have a subwoofer or LFE output? If it does, you should be good to go.
The problem is that some soundbars use proprietary sub connections or wireless, so you’ll need to check your manual.
What do you think of the 10" model? I know 12s are usually more boomy and 10s are usually more tight in sound. For sure usually sealed enclosures are usually also more tight and less boomy. usually more quality sounds for sealed vs ported for max SPL , but most HT kits are all ported anyways.
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to listen to the 10” version just yet. I have missed out on a few of them used, recently, so it’s only a matter of time.
A properly designed 12” sub shouldn’t be any boomier than the sister 10” version. With that said, larger subs can be a little more difficult getting positioned correctly, which can definitely lead to more boomy bass.
I despise boomy bass and port chuffing so I generally prefer sealed subs over ported but I also have a pretty small room. If my room was larger, I’d probably prefer ported, due to the additional output.
Thanks for asking, my friend! I should be able to pick up the 10” Klipsch sub in the very near future.
@@blazermdx I have the 8'' and 12'' wireless versions, both of which have removable power cables.

Great review..i got the Klipsch Cinema 600 soundbar...it has a sub out..so wanted to get a better sub then what came with it...for $150 new on Amazon..i got 2...i got a much better sub for my HT...so this should be good...
Yeah, this sub is definitely a few steps up from the included sub with the soundbar. Running two of these, vs. the included sub will make movies and video games MUCH more fun:)
Let me know what you think, once you get them set up. I bet you’ll be a happy camper!
@@blazermdx TY..yeah i gotta mess with them..i got em stacked atm as i hotta move stuff around to put them up front in the corners, but as of now they sound boomy and off to my ears...but i think it might be the phase, as when i had these 2 and the one that came with the soundbar on, the bass was way less, so i assune the one that came with the sound bar is out of phase 180..so maybe the sound bar is also.
Do you find a big difference in sound with Klipsch vs klipsch reference ?
Which series? Klipsch has a few different reference and non-reference lines like Synergy, Reference Premier etc.
This Reference sub is very good for the money though!
Do you need to break in these subs? If so what’s the best method?
There are mixed thoughts on this but I’ve owned hundreds of subwoofers, most were used but I’ve never felt the need to break in subs.
With that said, I also wouldn’t just pop in the opening scene of Edge of To
Tomorrow at reference, to start:)
I say just hook it up, get it calibrated and enjoy!
This model is $189 at Costco right now (Feb 2021). I beleave it was recently discontinued.

I think this will be a fantastic jumping off point, to many out there. I was quite impressed with its performance.
Thanks for helping let everyone know, it really is a great deal!
is this sub good for listening to music or should I get a different sub for music
Hi Dustin! I just wondered what you would pick between this sub and the PSW505? I have never had anything Klipsche before. I am worried about the Polk Sub's amp giving up the ghost early into it's life. The cost is the same for both where I am. Thanks in advance!
Hey Denver! These two subs are pretty darn similar but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go with the 505.
They will have similar output and both seem to have amp issues but I think the woofer and the cabinet are a bit higher quality with the Polk.
Is there something wrong with your 505 of you are just trying to be preemptive, in case there’s a failure?
Both subs are about as good as you can do for the money.
@@blazermdx Hi Dustin, thank you ever so much! I really appreciate your expertise.
I do not have either currently. I was looking more closely at the 505, but reports of smoke and overheating really had me concerned. House fires really scare me.
@@denverwynn4 I haven’t read too much about sparking with the 505 so that might steer me away, also.
Subwoofers are the most prone to failure, than any other piece of home audio equipment. I might just go with the one that offers the better warranty and that’s least likely to light my house on fire. Haha
Both are more similar, with performance, than they are different.
Wait for the Christmas shopping season, price will go down. Last year, it was 50% off.
Definitely! Klipsch and Polk subs seem to hit that 50% off mark, during the holidays.
Great advice!
Can you link this sub with a vizio sound bar? Thanks
Unfortunately, I don’t think this sub will work with most Vizio soundbars.
Check the back of your soundbar and see if it has a LFE or a Sub input, that’s a RCA. Most of the Vizio soundbars have their own connection for subwoofers though:/
Average Guy Hi-Fi thanks for the feedback.🙏🏽👊🏽
How is it with music, both steaming and cds/
Great review! I wonder how it would work with an Edifier 1700bts? It has a sub out
I think that would be a killer combo, especially at the sale price of $149 at Costco!
Having the sub handle the low-end will free up some amplifier power so you can get more volume and the sub will probably quadruple the in-room bass response. I say go for it!
I just love spend other people’s money though:)
@@blazermdx thanks for the input!
I have this exact setup and I love it! The Edifier 1700bts come with a 3.5 mm to RCA cord that you can use to go from the sub out to the subwoofer.
Still worth buying?
Just bought one for $105 on offerup open box. It really booms.
That’s a great deal! Congratulations on the new sub!
@@blazermdx thank you.
I'm ordering 1 tomorrow and another one tax time. Then I'm gonna put two Kicker Comp drivers in both! That's the key to a Klipsch. Change out the driver. And turn them off when done. Not standby because the capacitors are just cooking for no reason. I will say no more. You can lead a h I horse to water...
Got one from Costco. Great deal. $189. Building my first 5.1 system. Costco also has a deal on R-41Ms. $90 a pair. Can you believe it? Ordered 2 pairs. One thing is bothering me though. Are the R-41Ms good for front left and right speakers? I have read reviews where they say they are good side left and right speakers. But, what about front left and right? All inputs and suggestions welcome!!
The R-41M’s are considered to be a little on the small side, for mains, but at that price, it’s a no brainer!
It really depends on the size of the room they are going in and how loud you listen, but those Klipsch speakers should be just fine in most rooms at most listening levels. You will need to spend time getting that subwoofer dialed in and crossed over correctly but there’s tons of videos on how to do this.
The center is the most important speaker so make sure you get the best you can:)
You can always
@@blazermdx Thanks so much for the inputs. Much appreciated!
hello dustin. sen here. is this r12sw good for my r41m speakers please???
I’m new to this. Can I connect it straight to tv or computer or laptop alone without avr or speakers?
No, this only reproduces low frequency (bass) notes. If you try to play this on its own you'll only hear rumbling sounds. If you don't want to make a big investment in a multichannel receiver, you can look for a stereo amplifier instead. Of course you need a pair of speakers to go with it as well.
Angel Gonzalez thank you so much
Nice for you in the US. In germany 320€. - thats 380$
$169 at Costco right now (3/17/21).
Opted to return 12” rel sub for 2 Costco subs and stepped down receiver of devan or deran something from 2600 to 750... hope I didn’t loaf
Let me know what you think, once you’ve swapped everything out.
REL is known for high quality and accurate bass but dual Klipsch 12” suvs should have more output, than most single REL subs. The question will be, is the extra output worth potentially less accurate bass. Only you can make that call though:)
I’d be curious to hear why you returned your 2600 for a 750 though?
@@blazermdx didn’t expect a reply lol. Essentially I walked to to Best Buy to kill time. Entered the magnolia center like always, and was just pretending to buy speakers feel in love with Martin Logan surround sound. But didn’t plan on spending. On the way out I say a full set towers , bookshelf, center piece all open box bower and Wilkins for 750$ total. 350 bookshelf 350 center and the towers were 1098.40$ but the sticker read $109.840. They scanned it took off 50$ for no box. (I haggled) and then they added the receiver new by Denon avr-2600. And a rel ht/1205. Total was now 2300$. I was happy because I know the towers are A1 and price errored. Costco today has a Denon ave-s750h for 319 and the subs are 149.99 plus o have a Costco gift card for 300$. I really wonder if the difference is 1300$ worth.
I just got this at Costco for $150.00 yesterday. I bought 3 of them to replace all of mine in the house. He is right. placement is key with this monster.
Spend some time with placement and settings and this sub will reward the efforts.
This is my current pick for best budget sub out, at the moment. Followed closely by the BIC, which is a little better but also more money.
Hard to beat this sub, for $150!
Worth it or should i spend the money on SVS?
Talk about the product only!! Review starts at 3:05. Learn how to stay on topic!
Plenty of other options for you on CZcams. I’d suggest you just someone else, who isn’t as long-winded as I am.
Thanks for stopping by!
@@blazermdx so you don't like constructive criticism? You better stay on topic, you could have double or triple your subscriber count..
Costco has this for 150$ right now
Good stuff. I just got the same one. With only one out put from my receiver, should I just connect my cable to the white (left) input of the subwoofer or should I get a "Y" adopter to plug into both (left and right) inputs of the Sub? What do you think the best settings in the rear are for a theater room size 12x18?
hi me again ..should I go with this sub ..are the bic America F12..can't decided ....
Well, I don’t have any experience with that BIC subwoofer just yet so I’m not quite sure which is better.
The good news is that I actually grabbed a BIC F12 last week and I’ll be testing it out either this coming week or the next.
Stay tuned, my friend!
Klipsh rs 12 or Polk psw 505 12" or Polk psw 10? Those are the three I have in mind. Out of those three which one do you think is the better of them for what they are?
Out of those options, I’d probably go with the 505. It would be/is close between the Klipsch and the Polk 505 but I give the edge to the Polk.
Be sure to check out your used market though as you can probably do a little better than these 3 options, for the same money. Not that these are bad options or anything. I just try to stretch the budget - performance ratio, more than most:)
Let me know what you decide and your impressions, once you pull the trigger. Everyone loves new subwoofer day!
@@blazermdx I actually ended up going with the Klipsh 12" wireless. After I tried the Polk it just didn't fill my big living room enough. The Klipsch is amazing!! Took a while for adjusting but now you feel that bass. Thanks for answering.
They are $169 at Costco now
The price is still going down.
Is it better then the polk psw10?
This is a three year old video and the R-12SW has gone down even further in price as the newer R-120SW replaces it. The R-120SW is a LOT more expensive too. I picked up one of these on Amazon for $138 and now I wish I'd bought two. Mine works great for both music using my vintage Cerwin-Vega R12's and for my home theater system in a small-ish (13'x19') man cave. I don't think you can do any better than this sub in performance and quality at the price at which it can be had. A Klipsch 12" sub for less than $150 is just an amazing deal. There are better subs, no doubt, but there are no better subs that even come close to this price point.
I'm building a home theater system for my dad, he's on a lower budget, $189 now at costco, how much worse is this than a SVS 2000, do you have a subwoofer in the 200-500 range that would be a huge improvement to this>
This is a great sub, especially for the Costco sale price.
I’ve owned dual SB-2000 and they are definitely better subwoofers but they are also about 3 x the price of this klipsch.
If I had that budget and needed a sub or two, I’d be checking out the 10” Speedwoofer.
How large is the room?
@@blazermdx hey! Would the SVS SB12 NSD be much better than this Klipsch? Is it wort like 250 USD more for the SVS than for the Klipsch? I'll be using both for movies and for music.
I like klipsch speakers but can’t say the same about their subwoofers. I have the 2018 RP line but paired it with 2 svs pb2000s instead
I’m with you there! Klipsch does a decent job in the entry-level sub lineup but they haven’t been a contender in the higher end subs, for a long time.
Klipsch RP and SVS, a recipe for success:)
what u think.about the Bic America 12 F12 over this sub..... thanks ...
Recommendation, maybe not make the intro so long winded and cut to the review sooner.
That’s definitely my biggest problem and something I’m constantly trying to reduce. I’m a bit long winded in general, unfortunately..
With that said, I’m going to try to cut some of the fat out, as I go. My intentions were to keep the videos to around 15 minutes but they have ballooned on me lately.
Thanks for the feedback, I truly appreciate it!
How to hookup my subwoofer to my receiver.
Great review Dustin, I just bought this sub for $169 Have not received it yet. My Onkyo receiver Model No. TX-8522 does not have a sub output. Could you tell me the best way to connect this sub to my receiver? Thanks in advance.
Congrats on the new sub! I’ve never hooked up a sub, not using RCA but I still believe I know how to do it.
It’s my understanding that you can use high level speakers connections and connect them to your high level inputs on your sub (make sure to get one with such inputs) and use high level output on sub to connect your L/R speakers.
Again, I don’t have any experience doing it this way but it should work. I also checked and the manual for the TX-8522 is available as a PDF, so I would use that as a resource also.
I hope that helps!
@@blazermdx Well sadly there are no high-level inputs on my sub at all so with some searching around on the web I found a gadget that is supposed to be a workaround. I'll let you know how it turns out. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4EF1BC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Today I had good luck
I bought subwoofer for only 124.99 at the Costco
Just bought one at Costco cuz I need the Ap out of it. 149 on sale
That Costco sale is nuts. Congratulations on the new addition!
@@blazermdx thanks. Hooking it up now to see if I like it as is other wise my custom sub needs a new amp.
The quadraflex fried on of the resistors on the board and killed it.
If this one can handel it for a couple days of music I’ll leave it alone and actually buy an amp for the other
What do you think about Infinity sub R12 ?? thanks
Thats a great sub
Yes, it’s an excellent sub for the money. Especially when it’s on sale, like it is now, for $199:)
@@blazermdx Went back up..i pulled the trigger on the Klipsch for 170shipped from amazon
To compere that with Jamo c912 which one is better?
Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with that Jamo sub so I’m not sure how it would stack up to this Klipsch.
Looking at the specs, it looks like the Jamo should have a slight edge but it’s close.
Sorry that I couldn’t be of more help!
Thanks for the reviews.
Got a sad old speaker story. Wife didn't like the large speakers we had in living room bought in the 70s. Kept in garage a couple years, finally sold at garage sale for $60 for the pair without doing ANY research on value. How much could they be worth? Their 40 years old. Sold my ESS He'll AMT 1 ( fabulous speakers and worth $1200) for $60. So dumb. So sad.
