In this episode, we explore one of the many ways to build a stage management book. Also, we identify tips and tricks to perfecting your stagemanagement skills.
A couple of things I would add: a lot of SMs will use Lx or Lq to indicate light effects (and Sx/Sq for sound, Px/Pq for projections, etc). So lights 5 becomes Lx 5. Additionally, if you’re a leftie it’s worth noting you should probably 3-hole punch as normal, so your script is on the right and your notes are on the left. Finally, I’ve found that having 2 folders is generally preferable: the first contains notes done in rehearsal, while the second, the cue book, is written before/during tech (generally in a meeting of designers called “paper tech” and/or in a slow, broken up run-through called “cue-to-cue). This allows me to keep messier (and therefore quicker) notes during rehearsal, while saving my cue script for only the most necessary (and neatest) information. Hope this helps!

In the UK especially. I mostly see LX and Sound, fly cue, automation, stage, AV etc.
Also, I'm not a fan of post-its. They get less sticky over time

I keep a copy of every cue book I make, no way in hell I’m throwing that all out
