ROLAND D-550 is the rack version of the classic Roland D-50.
This came out in 1987 and can be listened in many 80s artist recordings.

The Moog Tine part of this video made me buy the sysex file. Thanks for the demo. That sound is killing me nostalgia wise. It hurts and reminds me of certain stuff, but at the same time it's putting me into a different space! Also reminiscent of Perry's tune Foolish Heart!
Thank you! ;-) That tends to happen, especially when you're playing a synthesizer that's over 30 years old. You can feel in its heart that it was made for a different kind of music than what we know today. Takes you to another dimension.

Can Confirm. If you own Roland Clouds D-50 you can import sysex files no problem. Open the D-50. Go to PATCH. Click LOAD. Find File..Done.

Hey sounds fantastic & great playing - I actually just went ahead & purchased the sysex of this thanks to your video! Already making some nice custom presets from it. But can you tell me if you customized some presets -- like "Voicer Bells"? This was my favorite preset featured in your video, and it sounds quite different on my D-550 (the 'voicer' patch seems much more prominent than the bells, for example). I got to 'D-50 Road Piano' and it sounded even more different until I realized I think you may be playing the next preset after that -- 'Rhodes'. Not asking you to divulge any preset custom 'secrets' if you don't like :) , but just want to confirm if you customized Voicer Bells, and not something going wrong with my sysex transfer ... (I realize it seems like you have some chorus & reverb but that's not what I'm talking about) Maybe something is also up with my keyboard velocity settings... Thanks!

Could be the effects of the RC Retro Color or Tal Chorus or like you said some settings of my ROLAND XP-30. Or could be that I modified something in the past and saved , but I don’t remember doing that.😢
If you want to know any setting that makes you doubt, we can check and see where is the difference between your patches and mine.

Which D50 reverb did you use on Road Piano? I just bought a SYSX package of Voice Crystal 4 :D
Hi Sean! I used a XLN RC-20 Retro Color . Really nice one. Emulates very well the VHS, Cassette tapes ( and you can add wooble, noise, reverbs etc) 👌🎶✨
@@eaglechildkeys 3rd party reverb, awesome! The reverbs on the Roland Cloud D50 plugin aren't as forgiving. I saw this video and HAD to find a way of getting the Crystal Cards on my D50 plugin. Sure enough--I have them!!! Thank you so much!
