Your train videos are the only ones that make me think of model train layouts, The perspective is so amazing!
Thank you!
Excellent video, thank you. Some of those rail cars were a long way from home.
awesome video. spent many a night doing just watching thanks for the memories
What a terrific location! Particularly atmospheric in the rain and mist.

These 12" to the foot modellers do some great work. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow that ending was awesome! Look at the snow!!! Beautiful!
Man, great video......nice to be reminded why this place is on my bucket list!
(from Canada) Excellent video, clear images, thanks for sharing.
Great work...Epic images...Thumbs UP!!!
Fantastic video!! loving it :-)
Beautiful video!
great videos. I need to go up that way and do some scenic railfanning.
Amazing scenery and engineering!!
That last shot looks like it could be a model train to me. Excellent video
Another great video, all are top drawer.
wonderful. Thanks all the Locomotive Engineers
The tunnel shot looks like a really high-quality model
oh pretty look from above. An exciting view. Greetings from Indonesia.

Truly amazing video. The scenery itself is breath taking. Love it.
Amazing landscape!!
love this, great video
Great video! Congratulations
Beautiful footage
Great video! Really nice snow scene there at the end.

Great videography!!! BTW, the reason for all the lumber carriers that the BNSF has lots of business along the East side of the Cascades.
Excelente video!!
👍👍👍Love this video. Thanks
Super video!
Great video.
Awesome video!!
The 'Gateway Sub' was constructed by the defunct Northern Pacific and the Western Pacific and the tracks were joined in the early 20th century. According to what I saw yesterday, this is the portion of the Western Pacific, i.e., Keddie Wye. That's the info I saw on a video by 7ideaproductions. Correct me if the info is incorrect.
Great video!
I myself have sat in that same spot above the tunnel so that I could video the next train coming or going, no matter how long it took!👍
Muito bom o seu vídeo! Obrigado!
I must go see this place!
Wonder what the Wye looks like now? I remember seeing photos taken a couple of decades before this video was shot when there were not so many trees in the way. Its not so pretty now.
It would be nerve wracking going over those high trestles in a heavy train
The tractors are amazing
Great Train Video! LIKE 1927
Those spiral tunnels are something impressive
*Beautiful*

All the UP Lumber stackers goes through Dunsmuir, and some get slit off at Weed for the CORP trains into Roseburg and Coos Bay.

THE THING IS:::The feather river route is rather interesting there is auto and train traffic on most of the route an interesting drive.
How many trains go through here a day? this place looks so cool!
Not enough! Mostly BNSF, Something happens on Donner Pass then this place is busy.

DieselSmoke92 ikr its cool I wish I was there
I wonder what degree of curvature the curved bridge is? The wheels are squealing like its a tight curve. I"d think they'd be at or below 4° to 3° which where the conical shape of the wheel tread is suppressively able to totally compensate for inner and outer rail differences in distance traveled through a curve. Tighter curves the wheels have to slip a bit, but they are always slipping a bit. When they start making noise the curves seem to be over 8° and maybe there is some change in speed or car brake application taking place.
Douglas Engle So the answer is to put a top of rail lubricator in this area in addition to the flange lubricators that are undoubtedly in the area also. You knew this though, right?
Nice video..
When you have push units at the rear of the train are they controlled from the lead unit or do they have their own engineer driving them?
Helpers are tied in with the lead units
Does this train go through garrett pa to or not? Just askin
@13:19...that's one mighty-dog horn blast!!!
I really am hook line and sinker on my trains to there awsome
Is this area open to the public who want to watch trains go by??
This is on my Bucket List of train watching sight to go to!!
As the two tracks that meet is in the middle of no where. Where the two track meet; who or what switches the train to which track is it done by remote or do they have a live person there that does it? Time stamp 18:24 was that rain and snow or all snow? does it snow hard enough to shut down the tracks or do they keep the blown clean? Thanks for a very outstanding video and some very beautiful country in the video
+John Moore Most of the switches are controlled by a Dispatcher is a centralized location in Omaha. Only a few need to be thrown by a trainman. It was really wet snow, if i was like 100 feet higher it would've been all snow.
+Trains232 \Thanks
That was snow at 18:24. The line sees snow, but never enough to shut down the line, that honor goes to Donner to the south of here. The Feather River route has to deal with slides, Earth and Rock. The scenery here from Oroville to Portola is Amazing and a " Must See " !
Thank you for A Wonderful Video and great info.
That's a nice area to live in with the forest and the fog and the river, people need to buy up my "Dance of Death" a James Grider novel on Etsy 200,000 times so I can afford to move to a forested area like that out of the desert. I would stand where the niche is for the signal pole on the bridge as the train goes by. I would tie up my dog there as the train goes by so the dog feels unnerved. Just get an orange vest and a hard-hat so the locomotive engineer thinks you're a worker and makes nothing of it.
as a fan of model railroading i have to ask, why no guard rails on the bridge to the left?
Duds there are, but they are so short.
Duds Two separate railroads so there are two different sets of track standards. You don't have to have guard rails on a trestle of this type. UP is in love with them, the railroad on the right. The BNSF apparently doesn't have the same love for them. Not all railroads do.
Good
Can someone please explain the purpose of Keddie Wye? The first time I saw a video of it I was bamboozled as to it's purpose, and I'm Still bamboozled! To my my mind a Wye is for turning an engine around with out the need for a turntable, but then with a loaded train a turntable is definitely out of the question.
It was built as part of a system for routing traffic. The tunnel was never that busy, but important enough to be built. From a Trains article long ago when UP was taking over WP, when UP wanted their own route to San Fransisco; at that time this route was busier. Now with everything west of Salt Lake City mostly owned by Uncle Pete ...
Thanks for that explanation, but it still remains a mystery to me. I guess if ever I went to the US and I went there and tried to figure it out for myself the picture may be clearer to me.
The line left goes North towards Oregon and Washington, the line right East towards Nevada , Utah and beyond
bushranger51 ? and you say that you are a Bush Ranger what do you do ?thanks
I hope that you and your’s have
A Happy Holiday’s and Good and Safe New Year In 2018 And Beyond
It would be droll if a wye was a short loop and the train turned around and crashed into the side of itself. That's a nice area to live in with the forest and the fog and the river,

very koooooooooooooooooooool video
how much side loading occurs against a trestle toward the inside of a curve ? is it mostly counteracted by the sections of the trestle at approximately 90* from each other on either side of the curve ?
Duggy Dugg At the speed they traverse this trestle, there's not much side loading. There are numerous trestles that have curves. Just like any curve, there's pressure from the train trying to go straight but that's to the outside of the curve, not the inside. Unless it's on a heavy grade and it's a uphill train. I've observed curve wear on the low rail on reversing curves as the wheels are trying to go straight and it puts pressure on the gage corner of the low rail.
@@coldblue9mm
sure there is side loading to the inside .. the engine is pulling all these wheels around the curve..there will be friction towards the center of the curve
Easier to buy than to do. Than to drive a tunnel of their own.
Esta chingon
Why does BNSF not have the 2 rails inside their tracks to prevent the rolling stock from falling off the bridge in a derailment like U P has done
C W Because different railroads have different track standards. Plus this isn't a thru truss trestle. The guard rails are more to protect a thru tress bridge from being damaged, not to hold cars from going off the bridge.
WoW!!!!
Kalo indonesia punya kereta kaya gini keren abis dan suara nya juga kenceng banget
very impressive length, but oh so slow.
It's ok with one railway bridge ??
Nord sud This is where two railroads split up. We have what are called joint trackage agreements. The BNSF operates Union Pacific tracks to this point, then separates and gets back on it's own trackage at this point.
Boa tarde

Me gusta el tren parece una serpiente de colores aún siendo un carguero yo ledoi un 10 porque me gusta mucho
Union Pacific
Let's see, the BNSF has no guard rails on their trestle. I bet that upsets the UP boys. lol
If you want to drive this route, play Train Simulator because Feathers River Route has created! Same route based on real life railway track and environment

THE RAIL ROADS DO A LOT THAT I CONCIDER STIUPID LIKE A LOT THAT I HAVE SEENFOR INSTANCE THE WAY SOME TRACK IS LAID IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN A LOT DIFFERENT WAY. NOT SO MANY CURVES FOR ONE AND THE CROSS OVERS FOR ANOTHER AND SO ON..
Harold Smith why stupid? It takes a lot of money to build tunnels and maintain them.
Harold Smith All caps makes your point so much clearer. That's call sarcasm buddy. It could not have been done any differently. Obviously you're just spouting off about something you have no clue about. The engineers who designed this forgot more about railroading than you'll ever know. Cool it with the caps lock key. It only makes you look stupid.
На хрен такую муть выставлять, чего здесь интересного.
