It's uncommon to stay connected to a childhood friend, it's rare to go into a business with a childhood friend, and it's unheard of to be in a business AND maintain such a close friendship that these two have. Rhett and Link are not only wildly successful as business owners but also as people in general. Pay attention to their insight, they've got it figured out.
And as childhood best friends with a buisness own a buisness built by other childhood best friends
Indeed - I'm very lucky to be in a similar situation and sometimes I don't even understand how lucky I am. I'm (at almost 50 years old) still best friends with many of my teenage year friends and three of us run a company together. Maybe that's one of the reasons I'm drawn to R&L.
They have a very rare and special bond that most people will never be able to find in a friend.
It's not unheard of. Some people just click and bond to such an extent that it sticks.
Anthony and Ian were the same way but their friendship was ruined by business. Ian was mature about it and Anthony was bitchy about it
Hearing link say he felt like a sidekick hurt, he's so important to the operation and he is absolutely 50% of the team, just because Rhett is more confident and a comfortable force doesn't discount Link's contributions.
I always thought it was the other way around. Both are invaluable to the team
right!! link has always been my favorite. i hope he knows just how much he is adored
GMM would not be GMM without Link's quirkiness. Rhett is the force that grounds the show but Link is the force that lifts it into such a fun place.
well it doesn't surprise me, a lot of gmm comments always trash talks link and even say the show would be better without him. it's honestly infuriating that these people don't see without link gmm would be worse not better.

To be along for that long of a ride, and to result in a life changing career is nothing short of fate/destiny. It must be so surreal to them to draw inspiration from smosh as the pioneers of monetization on youtube, only to be the one reviving them. What an amazing timeline.
Link is so articulate and thoughtful - he sells himself short, but I think he is SO wise and intuitive.

I really appreciate Anthony breaking up the duo and talking to them individually. I feel like especially with comedy duos people forget that they are individuals and not a packaged unit. I hope he does it for the game grumps one day too
This is really powerful. Both Rhett and Link raise each other up, but are also willing to criticize each other in a respectful way without making it “he does this wrong and my opinion is right.”

Did anyone else really bawl their eyes out in the end of their individual interviews, when Anthony was thanking Rhett and Link for saving Smosh, and the serendipity of Rhett and Link being the duo who helped bring back this Smosh duo... oh it's so heartwarming and melting and makes me feel like we should always trust the universe
The fact that Rhett and Link were able to support Smosh is made sweeter knowing that Smosh helped inspire R+L's start on CZcams

That's such a line because it's so true but it's also the most fulfilling thing at the same time.
Every workplace "leader" should be introduced to Rhett and Link. How these two treat each other and their team of people is incredibly rare. To see the respect and love that they have for one another, it's really sweet. They're good guys to their cores and they've made an awesome empire with GMM. I'm a proud Mythical Beast and owe SO many of my laughs to these two men.

I really appreciate how all four of them, including Ian, are so different and mature in their own ways. Anthony is very emotionally attuned and aware, Ian is an emotional anchor, Rhett is very intellectual and analytical and Link is chaotic but has a unique sense of empathy. Their different lives and perspectives have brought out the best in them. Especially the entire smosh debacle, which matured Ian and Anthony a lot but in different ways

Why are Rhett and Link such healthy individuals?! I am a fan of them, and to continuously hear them speak so eloquently about their relationships and their feelings. They have seemed to let go a lot of toxic masculinity and it's so refreshing to see/hear.

As someone who follows GMM, it's so lovely to hear Link's fear tried to take over and Rhett made sure it didn't. As someone with extreme anxiety, what they both had to say about it was really inspiring and something to learn from. So nice to learn more about who they are as both individuals and a duo.

I had imagined how Rhett and Link might comment to that point weeks ago when the news broke about Smosh being bought back. That is exactly how I thought Link would respond. Have you watched Anthony's interview with Ian? Ian mentioned how when he met with Rhett and Link about buying back Smosh, Link immediately wanted to talk about relationship and that business would work itself out.

Rhett and Link were a lot older when they started their channel, that’s why I think they were able to communicate a bit better to keep things together. Goes to show the mind is still developing from 20s to 30s. And I’ve felt it for sure.
I'm 28 and the amount of things I'm still learning makes me feel like a teenager but also makes teenagers seem like children now.
I love Rhett and Link together, but seeing them interview separately was actually really lovely too. It's wonderful to see how they talk about one another and how wise they both are. It's quite clear they have such a strong bond and friendship together and both lift each other up in many different ways. Also, lovely to see Anthony interview them seeing as he closely relates in a lot of ways with his friendship with Ian. Honestly, Rhett and Link are absolute heroes for fostering SMOSH when they needed it the most. They're both just such lovely guys & it was really sweet to see Anthony thank them personally. Proud to have been a fan of Rhett and Link for many years and will continue to be a fan for many years to come. I love how well Anthony vibes with both Rhett and Link. You can tell that they all mutually respect each other but at the same time you can see the mentorship in place. Anthony, even though he is the interviewer in this episode, he still asks for advice from them, and it's so visible how much he looks up to them. By far my favorite interview ❤

I never noticed until this interview how great of a flow Rhett and Link have that they’re able to just tell when the other is done talking and seamlessly give an answer to the questions that are asked.
Interviewing them separately was brilliant because it showed them as individuals and how it all comes together as a duo.
Anthony looks so much happier and relaxed than he has in a while. I'm glad Smosh is back and ian and he both have their independence
Link has never been the “sidekick” to me. Link is so amazing and stands alone with everything that makes him uniquely amazing.
I really find it so weird how we gravitate toward familiarity without even knowing it. I mean Anthony and Rhett seem so similar and they both found this lifelong best friend even with having ups and downs and now own businesses together and they all work together. Really is such a small world, you are the sum of the people you surround yourself with

This is one of those interviews where i can see a genuine connection between the interviewer and interviewees which makes in depth interviews like this so much better because they can relate so much to what they are doing and how they feel

I am a big fan of GMM and Smosh. Grew up on them both. To have Rhett and Link help save Smosh and then sell it back to Ian and Anthony is special. They are all CZcams legends!
Same! Although I don't consider myself part of Smosh's target audience now, it's nice to watch them again create videos together and feel those nostalgic feelings.
This video really made me stand still about how incredibly talented and intelligent Rhett and Link actually are, after watching them for like a decade. And Anthony's thank you sounded so sincere, I actually shed a tear :')

Proof that successful friendships need as much communication as successful marriages. Needs can be both romantic and platonic. Link is so insightful and emotionally aware. Rhett is a good balance in his spontaneity and rationale. I'd kill for a friendship like that. No wonder I resort to Smosh and Mythical for entertainment.

it makes me so happy how all these og youtubers are like a family they’re all genuinely rooting for each other and constantly supporting their endeavors it’s so heartwarming especially how you can tell everyone from that era got into this purely for the love and joy of it (and that’s not to say there aren’t still creators like that but admittedly now that this has become a career there are a slew of people in it for money and/or notoriety over love of creating)

This is basically the prodigal son returning to learn from his parents and apply Rhett & Links constant success to the Smosh duality. The roles are reverse here, which is why Anthony isn't seen like a therapist.
It's so interesting to watch them individually, but then to see them bloom as a duo the moment they're brought together. They really do perfectly riff off one another. Probably the most iconic duo.
I love that Rhett mentioned what he was wearing, so that they _wouldn’t_ wear similar things; whilst Link interpreted this information to be, so that they _would_ wear similar things.
So many OG CZcamsrs are being overlooked these days, but at least channels like this one give them a chance to show how much they’ve positively impacted the platform and its users!
I like that in the interview they make clear link is the more chaotic and that they are both wearing the same outfit but link's wearing the more chaotic version of it
Such a clever idea to have them talk separately, it makes it so interesting as you always see them together. Their friendship and honesty with each other and respect for each other is honourable.

Anthony, I think you make some of the best interviews because you ask deep questions, patiently let them speak, and then organically change the direction of the interview based on their responses. You're also a good speaker because you're a good listener.
I feel like Rhett & Link and Smosh are somewhat mirror narratives of each other. Same but different. I love it.
I feel like it speeks volumes to the incredible dynamic that Rhett and Link have, that as soon as they were together, I couldn't stop laughing. Incredible duo and wonderful interview to see them both seperate first and then enjoy their dynamic together
To find someone in childhood and keep that friendship growing through so many different seasons of life is truly a gift. Happy for them and wishing for their friendship to continue to flourish until they are old and grey!

Watching this and hearing about their struggles and growth gives me the best self-gratitude that I’ve been able to grow from past friendships that were similar to this. Watching both Rhett & Link and Smosh from the very beginning, this is peak wholesomeness.
I’d love to see more of Rhett and Link individually, I feel like they’d be fantastic conversationalists to chill with for awhile. Their friendship is inspiring and a huge goal of mine.
