I know I’m late, but I think it’s genius how the colors gradually go from being vibrant and warm, to cold and dark, the more things fall apart. The music going from soft and gentle, to a crescendo of tragedy is great too.
I agree it was amazingly done, the lack of saturation really did it hard, and only when she doesn't get judged with prejudice does it shatter, a new world for her where there is someone who won't judge her before they get to know her, And and the Pacing of the music to get strong and faster to the crescendo blimey it makes me tear up every time

when I first saw this segment, I was really baffled because it said Comedy for genre. I especially like the music, it is really intense and transports the emotions very well.
If her mother know about her daughter reading mind ability,she was supposed to teach Kotoura how to control her ability like how to keep your mouth from telling what they are thinking and keep it in your heart. But no.She was drunk,calling the exorcist team,doctor,and leave Kotoura with some deep shite trauma.Learn to be grateful to your daughter *sigh*
Honestly (even though I don't know how) Kotoura San was Literally the first anime I had ever watched, back when I was barely double-digit age, and knew nothing about anime at all. I'm glad this was my first impression, and while the show never delivered on its FANTASTIC idea and setup, I am still happy with the time I spent watching it, and it will always be my guilty-pleasure, with the place it holds in my heart
I started watching this because it was labeled as comedy. 10 minutes in and i'm crying, WHAT THE FUCK MAN. I mean, I finished the anime but like there is some deep shit here~ So if you are looking for only comedy I suggest watching the devil is a part timer or something lol.

Thank you so mucn for posting this! This opening was so amazing, so emotional, especially the last moment with the sound effects removed and visual effects. All so well done... I'm really dissapointed at how the rest of the show completely abandoned its premise. It feels like such a wasted opportunity. At least we still have this incredible 10 minutes. It's inspired me to write a story with a similar conceot but one that takes itself seriously and sticks to the themes and tone.

This clip is years old, but I remember coming across this series on crunchyroll and being struck by the prologue. As with many others the observation I can make is that it speaks in a way the rest of the show vapidly does not. In the provided clip right about the 9:00 mark, where the music swells, is what could be described as a beautiful moment. Terrible, horrific even in it's beauty, but beautiful nonetheless. The anguish that cannot even be given voice, as it robs the breath away and the scream that silently reverberates in the chest as it cannot pass the lump in one's throat. Few are the moments which capture that singularly unpleasant experience. But that is the reason art exists, to present in metaphor what can never be otherwise shared. As silly and forgettable as the rest of the show assuredly is, this one moment strikes a chord. All that being said, it is good for the denizens of this anime world that she was so good natured from the start. A more clever individual would learn quickly that knowing other's thoughts, without revealing the depths of your knowledge is a potent and powerful thing. Especially when you find yourself a true cynic. And what other course could there be for someone who can peer into the private thoughts of others?

My childhood was definitely like that except my parents still loves me. However everyone treated me like I’m a bad guy for telling truth. My mom was so mad that she was teaching me how to lie and keep things secret. But it didn’t make anything better. Everyone ignores me and they’ve never looked at me. Right now I’m still a loner but I play piano and draw anime to make people happy. I just hope that someday that people will look at me again and think that I’m not a bad guy.
Watching this show especially this part really hit me. Reminded me of my past. Not that I could read minds, but being alone. I had no friends, if someone talked to me, I was being bullied. I had no friends until my 11th grade year in highschool. Man thankfully he reached out to me multiple times, I avoided him the 1st few days. Being alone was all I knew, keeping my distance, protecting myself from potential bullying. But after a few days of him calling me over I finally went over and he was my first friend since back in kindergarten, 1st friend in a decade or so. I had a very lonely childhood. So when the music picked up towards the end and she was screaming I felt that, I remembered that. When she had no friends, when she thought she finally had a companion and lost it I remember that. So I welcome the rest of the show. It was funny I enjoyed it. In this little heart aches in between definitely made it a worthwhile show. It definitely had meaning.
I’ve watched his anime before and I really loved it she never deserved to be treated like that she is such a sweet girl and thinks of others (sometimes) and my point is she was a good person and never needed to go threw that it really made me happy at the end of the series

Honestly (even though I don't know how) Kotoura San was Literally the first anime I had ever watched, back when I was barely double-digit age, and knew nothing about anime at all.
I'm glad this was my first impression, and while the show never delivered on its FANTASTIC idea and setup, I am still happy with the time I spent watching it, and it will always be my guilty-pleasure, with the place it holds in my heart

I started watching this because it was labeled as comedy. 10 minutes in and i'm crying, WHAT THE FUCK MAN. I mean, I finished the anime but like there is some deep shit here~ So if you are looking for only comedy I suggest watching the devil is a part timer or something lol.
This is probably the only deep part of the show. The rest is about as deep as the shallow end of the kiddie pool
lol yeah. just as manabe took his entry this entire thing turned into a love comedy in no time. I finished this awesome anime a few days ago and I'm still CURSING GOD THAT WHY THERE ARE JUST 12 EPISODES!
Well, Technically this isent the only deep part. Even in highschool people kept on bullying her throughout the show, if manabe wasent there she would'eve been alone again.

This opening was so amazing, so emotional, especially the last moment with the sound effects removed and visual effects. All so well done... I'm really dissapointed at how the rest of the show completely abandoned its premise. It feels like such a wasted opportunity. At least we still have this incredible 10 minutes.
It's inspired me to write a story with a similar conceot but one that takes itself seriously and sticks to the themes and tone.

there this one 'friend' that bullies me in school in yr 8 until yr 10, and untill then we became eventually friends and i start recover back from the trauma how he treated me, thinking back i despise how he treated me and turn my life into fuking shit and horrible but what i hate the most is not fighting back, i just accept being bullied for 2 godamn yrs. thats why everytime we've come in contact, i get nervous even though he didn't bully me anymore, the trauma is still there and when he teased me a bit, i got upset real bad and get depressed for the the whole day. tbh i hate him, but hes a good person. The way he twisted me being used by him and being gaslight is one thing I can't forgive about. Thats why when i see him again after being separated for a year, im change and do something about it and about him
This clip is years old, but I remember coming across this series on crunchyroll and being struck by the prologue. As with many others the observation I can make is that it speaks in a way the rest of the show vapidly does not. In the provided clip right about the 9:00 mark, where the music swells, is what could be described as a beautiful moment. Terrible, horrific even in it's beauty, but beautiful nonetheless. The anguish that cannot even be given voice, as it robs the breath away and the scream that silently reverberates in the chest as it cannot pass the lump in one's throat. Few are the moments which capture that singularly unpleasant experience. But that is the reason art exists, to present in metaphor what can never be otherwise shared. As silly and forgettable as the rest of the show assuredly is, this one moment strikes a chord. All that being said, it is good for the denizens of this anime world that she was so good natured from the start. A more clever individual would learn quickly that knowing other's thoughts, without revealing the depths of your knowledge is a potent and powerful thing. Especially when you find yourself a true cynic. And what other course could there be for someone who can peer into the private thoughts of others?

My childhood was definitely like that except my parents still loves me. However everyone treated me like I’m a bad guy for telling truth. My mom was so mad that she was teaching me how to lie and keep things secret. But it didn’t make anything better. Everyone ignores me and they’ve never looked at me. Right now I’m still a loner but I play piano and draw anime to make people happy. I just hope that someday that people will look at me again and think that I’m not a bad guy.

Watching this show especially this part really hit me. Reminded me of my past. Not that I could read minds, but being alone. I had no friends, if someone talked to me, I was being bullied. I had no friends until my 11th grade year in highschool. Man thankfully he reached out to me multiple times, I avoided him the 1st few days. Being alone was all I knew, keeping my distance, protecting myself from potential bullying. But after a few days of him calling me over I finally went over and he was my first friend since back in kindergarten, 1st friend in a decade or so.
I had a very lonely childhood.
So when the music picked up towards the end and she was screaming I felt that, I remembered that. When she had no friends, when she thought she finally had a companion and lost it I remember that.
So I welcome the rest of the show. It was funny I enjoyed it. In this little heart aches in between definitely made it a worthwhile show. It definitely had meaning.
This whole scene made me feel dead inside. I had the same experience,accept my parents still love me, but i am still lonely.
