- Certain names ring down through history as men and women who shaped the world. Some were forces of chaos, destructive and rapacious. Some were men of honor who fought for the right. Some defended their homelands from invaders, while others used their military might to violently acquire the lands of others. Battles such as Agincourt, Manzikert, and Hastings are remembered as turning points in world history, and names such as Henry V, Yi Sun-shin, and Erik the Red are etched forever as great conquerors. Now relive their tragedies and triumphs.

So typical, Biper got carried again by ally.
10:00 holy shit, you instantly kill 80 turks in a few seconds, that's why the game looks ez
hc koo indeed...
I'm starting to think that maybe Lepanto wasn't that hard; we're just bad players. 🙁
It is easy for Viper as long as no heroes or horses are involved...
he built the wonder with all his vils which also might also be why it looks easy aside from he took out the transport ships. It makes the Turks doesn't have time to prepare another wave
Turks is ready to prepare any wave at any time. They have like over hundreds of units at the very beginning. Viper is simply pro enough to stop them from landing.
I just built a wall on the coast and won
I was confused why everyone said it was hard. Like the AI almost never moved close to the wonder for me? All the troops that landed on the sides just focused buildings for ages before. The only troops you have to deal with are those that land next to the wonder in the beginning.
"are they worth 800 gold" lol
10:00 Viper destroys 80 janissaries and doesn't even realize how disappointed we all were...
#FeelsBadMan #OhNo
If viper lets his hero "Nobunaga" die in Kyoto he should just quit the game.
haha lol
anyway just helping viper a bit, nobunaga is supposed to die in the next battle ,dont freak out saving him
no spoilerino
wan si chen wtf dude.😑😑 you spoiled the party
+wan si chen
Delete your comment dumbass,
If the landing units actually tried to snipe the wonder instead of ATTACKING HOUSES AND MARKETS, then...
"Build a wonder and defend it"
Me: gets flashbacks from the last Saladin campaign
this is going to be fun
Indeed haha
The ships had heroes Viper. You killed them. #RIP
Ane Mesh did they rly ? I never played this one before
I completely neglected the wonder and tried tor create a D-day style defense. Towers, archers, hand cannoners, palisades, some spearmen...
PanzerDrag00n
I like the way you think. Just add bombard cannons and you're invincible.
Kyoto will be awesome. The hero death cycle will continue...
*Kaioto
Relux the Relux I'm quite sure the game calls it Kyoto. But they might be wrong...
justanalt oh. That explains it. Thanks for telling me. Now I feel really damn stupid. Thanks!
You can always delete the evidence
You destroyed 7+ transports, I think the game was not expecting that. It is supposed to be a fight to the finish 11
Canadian Ninja This mission is actually one of the easiest.
Just ignore the wonder for a while, get your vills on gathering resources instead; destroy most of the Turkish fleet with your starting ships, clear the towers on the island to the NE, place the demo ships around it; research and train lots of cannon galleons and sail from that island to the enemy base, then start the artillery bombardment. Spanish CG have very fast projectiles, they can clean up most of the enemy base in seconds. Then land a couple of trebs to take down the remaining Turkish building outside of the CG range, and you're done.
landochabod7 that's exactly what I did 17 years ago. This way seemed far less of a hassle though
Gumaro R. Villamil Sure, but the Turks did land on his base. A less skilled player might've not been able to keep them away from the wonder.
One thing I didn't mention is that researching Spies to get an advanced warning on enemy landing parties is actually a viable strategy, especially after you start receiving Green's tributes.
It actually reminds me of an Empire Earth mission, the one where you have to stop Atlantic convoys from reaching the UK.
10:34 "25 years gone, 175 to go"
Snek accurately describing his AoE II career
Daaamn just in time, was running out of things to do to procrastinate!!
Guys, I confirmed it, on easy difficulty you can literally win by complete AFK. On hardest you can do the same, with the exception that you need to kill the 3 trebs that they don't send on easy.
They seemed to be doing something else, attacking walls or similar, don't know if this is 100% consistent.
on hd the ai for the campaigns is a bit buggy
It's not only in the campaigns, the general rule is they seem reluctant to attack walls. For example, if you have walls and gates and a castle firing at their units from behind, all of them will try to attack the castle and never destroy the walls, even if they have rams (which always seem to be their favourite unit). If there were no walls in this scenario, it would have been much harder. I think it's impossible to lose.
@@lukasg4807 The AI seems really buggy in the HD edition, the troops landing on the shore does not really seem to do that much. In the original AOC they would instantly run arround attacking everything.
6:12 Top ten anime battles
So sinking the transport ships makes you win this scenario, hm... I still prefer my method of walling the shore.
i just walled the whole coast with palisade. easiest cheese ever
My usual strat when playing islands against the AI... Gets boring quickly though
you should try playing this level on "hardcore". don't build the wonder. defeat the turks.
"Good stuff, good stuff." /TheBiper, at all times when a campaign ends./ i love it, lol.
Its not that the scenario ended abruptly its just that you played it too well.
"Hello guys, and welcome back to Lepanto" The stream nerves were real then.
There is a simple strategy by which you can easily beat this mission: build stone walls across your shore to prevent the enemy from landing. You may also leave tight spaces and then use the demolition ships to kill many at once.
One of my favourite campaigns in AoE II
I as there when it happened. Was very interesting to see you recording it and the little bit of editing.
Ahhh scheiße , laught so hard xD
this was fun and also funny, viper, sometimes, i don't think you realize it, you're funny as hell. i mean that in a good way. several times when i'm watching you say something or react to something and it just comes across in an amusing way. these vids. are lot of fun, thanks for doing them.
olddogg eleventy2 well said
I was hell shocked in Lepanto, literally played 7 times to win m biper winning like a pro
To think that this game all those years ago had this historical battle, from where the famous book of Don Quijote de la Mancha would be written by a crippled survivor.
Way too many transports died before being able to drop troops Feelsbadman, normally your base is flooded with units and it turns to basically holding till the end and hoping the AI fucks up... wish you wouldn't start with cannon galeons on hard because that would make it so much harder
"normally your base is flooded with units"
Rudy Niet if there's one thing lepanto scenario gets right its giving your the cannon galleons. Turkish cannon < Cheistian cannon at the time. Plus the six galleases... those should be a unique unit or hero :~>
wanna see how viper defeat all the armies without destroying any transport!!!
He would have beaten that mission with 0 apm.
The intro is back to blurring all the terrain again. It was a lot less intense the past few videos but now it's back in full force again.
Putting castles on the shores works very well. You need about 3 to be effective and need fire ships to hunt down the bombard ships but the castles will sink the transports and if one lands the janissaries will get massacred EZ. You just patch up the gaps in the walls behind the castles, which should be on the shoreline, and you can have onagers behind the walls to kill the cavaliers and camels while the castles waste the enemy janissaries and bombards if they land. It can take a while to get the stone but if you take the stone island at the start quickly and stall the wonder to get stone, then even if the first wave of transports land you will have usually at least one castle and can just use a few knights to bait any landed janissaries over to your castle, then use onagers to clear the rest when the jannissaries are gone and send the knights through to deal with any trebs, at least until you get enough stone to line the shore with castles XD
The way Viper plays this map makes it so unnecessarily hard throughout. The correct strategy is to just block the turkish docks with your ships and prevent any transport from reaching your base.
Amazing.
22:53 "allright... well, work-Daut, work-Daut" oh you guys, your bromance is so obvious.
It took me 5 tries to win this campaign in standard difficulty mode... You completed it one first try in hard mode . Nice man ...🙂🙂
Viper has got the stage fright. :))
This scenario is pretty easy if you send demoships to the Turkish transport ships right at the beginning
The funny thing about defending the wonder. The Battle of Lepanto was fought in 1571. So, would it just take 200 years to win the battle? Like in 1771🤔
Why is the enemy just kind of stand there and do nothing?
The stupid AI just makes this one easy since they'd rather attack houses and wall fragments instead of advancing on your wonder
Get this and hold it and u get the grass commander's fringe benefit of Longbows on the side to these grass matches.
Try do that again without destruction turks transports
that doesn't make any sense.
Now, imagine if you let all those transports land.
Destroying the transports or blocking the landing spots with walls is the key.
U made it so easy. I immediately wants to turn it off when those cavaliers and jassiniaries land. That's how bad I play
Not gonna lie, really wanted to see Diaper lose this one.
feel like ive seen this somewhere else :D
I have the same exact feel xD
'La más memorable y alta ocasión que vieron los pasados siglos, ni esperan ver los venideros...' Don Miguel De Cervantes.
So I'm guessing the "surprise" was just the crap-ton of land units you would have to defend against if they all successfully land. But why would you ever want to allow them to land, though? Sure, we don't all have Viper-level micro, but even a noob player would have the reflex to want to sink as many of those Transports as humanly possible, right?
I should really play the entire Campaign myself before I let this series ruin it all for me, but I'm lazy and I keep getting distracted by other games. XD
If you have your ship too far north or south you will get landed with lots of janisarries. Viper was so close at 10 to getting at least 20 janissaries right near his wonder, and if his units were farther north he would have had problems
Well, these ships had time to land, they were just moving to some other landing spot. 20 janissaries next to the wonder is no problem at all, you have guard and bombard towers there. And all of them do a lot of damage to ships, they always sink some before landing.
damn he nearly killed all of the transports. That's no fun!
Best way would have been 1) Send 4 of your villagers to nearest gold mine and start mining. 2) Start walling your city by inches.. such that the invaders have the least amount of space to land. (Giving no space is ideal). 3) use the mined gold to pay tribute and buy stone. 4) Use the Tributes to research/buying more stones. 4) Build the wonder as late as possible to fend off the early attacks. Once walled, even the large fleets will are defend-able.
It would be fun to watch Viper replay this mission where he tries to defeat the Turks before the 200 year countdown ends. Still with all his starting vils building the wonder. I think he can do it.
Maybe the surprise was that Viper didn't have any heroes to defend.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haven't started watching this video, but damn, only 23 minutes for this hard mission i struggled for hours? fml ^^
Well those 200 years are around 17 minutes in-game, so...
what a god,it was a big battle for me,why viper won is he cleared the navy first so he got some ships to sink the transports
Are you also going to play the forgotten campaigns?
New challenge, re-run the Campaign without killing transport or walling shoreline.
No spoiler but something interesting, when the hero dies next, his death animation is interesting.
You should've letten them land all their units and maybe it would've been a challenge
HOLY SHIT THE INTRO
Lepanto is so easy if you have a very good naval army. Load one villager onto transport ship at the start. One villager build wonder. Rest go to wood. Let your cannon galleons take out the turk towers near you and then take your loaded villager to build scout tower on those islands. Meanwhile build only galleys on your docks. Once you build the scout towers on the two islands in the north east, it is game over for the enemy transport ships.
To make it even more difficult i destroy all my seige army at the start.
OP 😆
i got completely overrun by turk, they lande3d transport after transport... but yeah i also didnt listen that part about not buildiung a wonder with all the vills so i cheesed it just fine, despite my base being mostly rubble xd
I'm continuing with the Scottish campaign and it's tricky.
You have to deploy a proper base and assume a human player on the other side so if there is a single tower in the enemy base like the 'Battle of Stirling' it doesn't matter. I still have to build a huge base for one fuckin enemy tower.
Messes with my head.
imagine this as a multiplayer scenario
I wouldn't like to be the Greeks :)
I am the only one that go full cannon towers? Xd
I cannot understand why people say that lepanto is difficult..I did the same thing and I'm not at all a good player.I did it in my second attempt of course, but still..
Theophanis Ketipidis i did it first try on hard lol, I guess the suprise
Yeah i did it on the second by foucusing on the landing spots
I somehow wanted to see a conquest victory. Just do not like wonders.
Vertically oppsist angel.
Basically the virgin Turk cannon galleon vs the Chad Spanish cannon galleon
AGE OF EMPIRES 2. IT'S MY LIFE.
What a charismatic personality and skilful player you are! Thank you for the video, this campaign wasted effing hours of my life hahah now I can finally beat it! Some of the comments also give brilliant solutions hahah. I ended up so frustrated, just got cobra cars and fucking invaded the Turks
9:50 - ships turn team blue.
Rashiv Bajaj cuz he macro'd (lol)
lepanto, what a cool campaign few years ago, i just winned this without wonder , i've killed all turkish with bombard ship and some transport with villagers and trebs
Just build 100's of ships on your side and block sea route , not a single unit can land at your side.
There's a bug where you get a pretty good deal: you give 800 gold to the greeks and they give you.. Nothing. Happened to me múltiple times..
I was able to beat this mission by going offensive. Focus all your villagers on resources, place demo ships around to kill the transports, and build a strong navy. Spanish cannon galleons are better than turkish ones, even though the turkish ones are stronger. And allying with the greek village is big down the stretch, especially since they give random reasources
man, the only way for me to beat this stage is going against them, sink all his ship and just block their port and not let any transport get through
Franco Venica
Walking the shoreline works to.
For best results, leave a little indent in one of the shore walls, so that all the transports land there, then send in the demo ships.
Best K/D ratio ever.
I won it just by building wooden wall on every shore. Enemy transports just knocked on the fence waiting for being sinked.
yeah and half of those 352 troops was janisaries, if they landed it would be a big big problem
Knowing that the turks land like a billion troops, I always make sure to wall up every piece of costal land I can before I even consider the wonder.
Why build galleons instead of more spanish canon galleons?? The latter is op for naval micro
The AI in this mission can be easily exploited if you wall the coast, leave no space to land, if they land, just spamm houses and other buildings around the whole island sorrounding the wonder, yes, its like a scrub tactic, but its sooooo funny and beautifull to screw up with the cheaty AI inteligence.
This one destroyed me when I first played aoe2 😂
20:40 Do you mean that it's an anticlimactic ending?
you can actually start by using all resources to build walls block all of the shores. then the enemy transport have no place to land. problem solved :)
9:22
Nobody:
Pewdiepie when he kidnap villagers
He should redo this and push the turks back to their spawning points.
wat.
seriousley??
i think this was much luck again because 4 of 4 transports got stuck at the beginning
grassBaddaboom
STRANGE! IS IT REAL the
Gulf of Patras?
Lapanto YESS!!!!!
damn you owned the scenario
I remember I won that campaign by building walls everywhere so Turks couldn't land lol.
Alexgeder great
It's because of this battle, the European can sail anywhere in the world till now when they're on the peak
rip 7 year old you playing aoe
9:54 Wololo
This mission is incredibly easy. All you have to do is wall off the shores, from your northern coast all the way down to the greek village end of coast in the south. Afterwards, build 15 elite cannon galleons and smash the Turks. This is one of the easiest missions in the game.
