    Whats the purpose of resampling a full sequenced phrase back into the sampler? Sounds almost like the sampler becomes a multi track recorder. Isnt it waste of memory to print several notes to a new longer sample when the midi notes + one single looped base note leaves more memory for other stuff?
    Also at 1:11:04 you say you apply effects via the mixing desk for both hardware and daw channes. Does that mean you run all instruments via the desk first, then direct out to the daw ins and then a selection of daw outs via the desk too?

      It’s a choice between polyphony and memory. 20MB on a 16 voice sampler goes further than one would expect. I usually don’t do long form samples on these units, for the sake of time I chose them for this demonstration:

      Answering the second part of this question. I send everything into my interface first, then the output of my interface to the mixer. This is what gives me that flexibility to route channels to whatever channel I wish. Same principle of a digital/analog hybrid desk, but on steroids.

    Nice, that looks pretty much like my 90's studio gear wise. Always found the first gen of Cubase on mac had really sloppy timing though. What Mac are you using here? Recycle was a revelation when it came out though for sure, we were using Akai S2800's by that point. Nice SH02 and SP.
    You ever thought of Atari ST and Notator, I mean, that was tight AF.

      I have had notator since 2012. It’s tight, but not a fan of its workflow.

      @@Arc.hitectureMusic Yeah, Notator is an acquired taste really. It's almost like a tracker.

    Super tight midi! Do you find this "old" setup more tight then beeing totally in the box ala Logic or Live ?

    • @Arc.hitectureMusic
      @Arc.hitectureMusic  Před 23 dny +1

      Serial based midi on these macs feels as good as the MIDI coming from my Atari ST's and MPCs. Been loving the Unitor 8s on Logic and Live on my Mac Pro and M1s on USB even. I wouldn't say its tighter than being ITB, but for me personally I connect more with the hardware than a pure software environment.

      @@Arc.hitectureMusic Amazing how long we have come! I remember using and Emu esi32 and a Aatri back in 96 :-) Love that wide screen you are using :-)

    • @medwaystudios
      @medwaystudios Před 23 dny

      There's no way to be tighter outside the box compared to ITB sample accurate.

      @@medwaystudiosI do prefer Logic for its internal sampler capabilities. Specifically EXS24 over the current version of sampler.
