    Notice how smartly dressed and well groomed literally everyone in this video is. These were the 70s working classes, and despite not having to shillings to rub together, they still made sure they were presentable before leaving the house. I think this was the last decade where people took pride in their appearance.

    I lived in sudbourne Road Brixton in 1975-79 was 18 yo. Rent was £5 a week, we were 3 in the same room.Wages was £30 a week at the Savoy hotel. I was kind of hoping to see myself unfortunately not.

    Boy… rough times back then. But No killing and stabbing our own people.
    We seem to have lost our identity, Our own individual cultural style and heritage. Just take our women
    For example. Minimal cosmetics and appendages, like eyelashes, nails weaves, push up bra.
    We certainly have embraced uk culture. And at what price ?

      young people now just dress and act differently
      Can’t blame the Uk and conformity for that it’s happened to everyone
      Modern western culture is a complete 180 to what it used to be for everyone

      Brixton was never a predominately ‘Black’ neighbourhood. It did form a plurality never a majority.

      The video is very good but it didn’t show how mixed Brixton was. It definitely wasn’t a predominately black neighbourhood in the 60s & 70s. How do I know ? I was born in Brixton in 1968 and lived there until 1996. It was very cool in the 90s, lots of things to do. After Covid it definitely needs more investment from the government but that’s unlikely to happen

    1:48 -52, ..FRANCIS BEAUTY SHOP ( across from the bakery )... that little shop , ..made her rich...she would be about 80 yrs old in 2023..
    Brixton MARKET..that front entrance has. Seen legends pass through.
