Funny enough I've swept my balcony for the first time since I moved in, earlier in the year and put some biocide down. Sid (and Ben from Flawless Cleaning) were my inspiration. It's only about 4' X 6', so I haven't done you out of a job, but I would have loved it if someone else had done the work and made a better job than me. I always make a point of greeting anyone working in or around our block of flats
Well... High rise owners and tennants can be a handful. Rented two times in my life and that was enough. Got my own place since 2020 and while neighbours can and will be a nuisance, it's so much better for mental health than living in a high rise.

Having worked in industrial automation and manufacturing, when working with high-pressure hoses they break. Sometimes the fittings place stress on hoses, and sometimes there are flaws in the windings in the lines. It's just a matter of dealing with pressure and moving fluids. Best to develop a method of repair and spare parts with common breaks. Farmers do this every day with hydraulics because crops wait for no one.
To build a business you have to be prepared for the un expected. Have spare parts, know how to fix your equipment, have enough equipment to do the job. Maybe routine maintenance schedule for all. Having an organized work vehicle really helps. All of these will help you meet your goals. Crack On!
For sure, we're learning slowly, weve done a lot of repairs on the fly recently but it seems like each thing we don't expect is the thing that takes us out. within a a year I think we'll have no need for a shop visit any more. I've been quite naive thinking just because somethings expensive it won't break, lesson learnt!

This is a fun job, not just the new things to figure out but also the variety. The stairwells were important, to prevent slips. It was nice to see the cobblestone work in the courtyard was meant to add a lot of colors to the area. 28:43, was that India Sandstone for an apartment building? Really am enjoying the improvements as you clean. At 32:34, the removal of things as exhaust and dust off the render, before cleaning, really shows. That parking was something else. Often these places are not cleaned in a long time, the transformation is insane to watch, so mesmerizing to watch the real colors popup again. I just bought a new powerwasher, only to do the backgarden occasionaly, but its soooooo satisfying seeing the original color showing up when you take a way the dirt.
Quality! There are so many of these new buildings that are already in an absolute state , all because they just aren’t being maintained! Great to see you guys bring this one back up to standard.

Syd, here in the states, in regard to having backup supplies for emergency repairs, we have a saying if you have 2 of something you really only have 1. Of you have 1 you have none. I try to keep backups of everything on my rig(kit) that can go wrong to prevent downtime. Great work, friend.
Small companies like yours can really keep themselves afloat with recurring jobs as big as that place is. Heres hoping you guys are able to get the whole place and are able to do it without any issues

The value in those apartments are going to increase a fair bit, now that one level of the complex looks like new. When you go back, could you show some of setting up, like running the hoses etc on the higher levels? I can't imagine that's easy. Could you/the client arrange with Birmingham city council to have temporary closure/cordons on nearby paths? As that must help if you could. What a great 'Part 1' 😄. Looking forward to the rest!
