5:32 Jason paying respect to Cliff.
For those who don't know the 4:28 until 6:10 from the music To Live Is To Die is the last creation of Cliff Burton. Actully, the song It's self is a homenage to him.
R.I.P Cliff Burton
To Live is to Die
i knew it
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home...?
5:32 is not paying tribute to cliff, That's a piece Jason wrote himself which Metallica stole of him for their own gain
Jason plays a sweet melody 🥰
That is literally the riff of To Live is To Die, a piece written by Cliff.@@pilummurialis6490
i've never seen someone playing bass with such a passion and emotion ;-(
Billy sheehan
Must see "geezer" butler or rudy sarzo and many others, but I'm think Jason was the second, first Cliff
I have, Cliff Burton, the major rager
@@RafaelHernandez-et6vv Cliff Burton’s a better player but on stage he doesn’t show this much emotion. He swings a little and headbands. I prefer Jason’s emotional build up and start, he’s like an actor in a way
Damn dude, you should check out a dude named Cliff Burton....
One of Jason's best...The haunting sonic landscape created through the delay and compression 3:06- 5:10 is pretty dark and somber. Two fucking thumbs up!
3-06 5:10 is the best bass solo I have ever heard.
The survivors of this show have a support group after Jason's AOE attack, that shit was intense
This is to my little brother. Bane, even after I die, remember I told you this one is for me.
And when I'm gone, you are here.
Play this one for me sometimes.
I love you.
why they cut bass line from justice ? just hear how perfect that bass sounds in to live is to die ... fenomenal !
There still is bass, you just can't really hear it. With the way it was mixed the guitars eat into it too much.
+Zennakku the bass is from the guitars😂
The12hunter21 For the most part, the bass has a different sound than the E string on a guitar
Velocisaurusman all basses are tuned an octave lower than a guitar
Easy as of Justice For All Lars and James took over final mixing of the album's and refused to show that Jason was a good bassist worthy of being respected like Cliff was. They hated the fact that he could play almost as good as Cliff could and never wanted to show that he was a great player. Their egos took over. Cliff when he was alive wrote most of the songs himself and flat out told James and Lars I will be on equal footing with all of you or I will go join Dave in Megadeath was the rumors.
Jason brought so much more than bass to the band! He had the passion, the backing vocals, the zest for the music and the love of the fans. He was never a replacement for Cliff Burton but he was a unique accompanyment to the band in his own right. I like all of Metallica's music, Cliff/Jason/Rob if I could watch you all in the same night do your stuff, I would be in heaven. Until then CZcams will do!
I know the homage to Cliff steals the show, as it should, but I think the section that has the eerie ass and larger than life sound is SO FUKIN COOL! 3:04 I wish that they would've put it at the beginning of Cthulhu or something
it’s phenomenal! do you have any idea what the pedals he used to create that wailing were? would love to recreate this someday
Cliff is proud, Jason.
I mean that. Shit's for real
that tone is out of this world
Based Jason
How did he make this tone?
oh gosh! am i d only one getting teary eyed with the To Live is To Die part? =( that is an awesome moment! wow!
For sure, you are not alone in this
Surprised Lars didn't make the sound engineer turn down Jason's bass amps
Jason is a fucking great musician!!!!!
Total respect!!
Thanks from Italy for sharing this
@@layneseason955 hai ragione, completamente d'accordo. Era ed è un grandissimo musicista. Recentemente gli avevano chiesto scusa, ma effettivamente come è stato trattato, non lo meritava assolutamente!
6:01 best moment in Live music history
i have been a metallica fan since i was little and i have seen the band go through everything, they were AMAZING with cliff they were AMAZING with jason and they are AMAZING with rob, if you are truely a metallica fan you would stop bitching about this and enjoy the phenomenal music they have released in the past 32 years!!!! sorry guys needed to be said :)
Don't be sorry! You just spitted facts
Well said. True fans never bitch regardless who's the bassist or the guitarists or whatsoever. Sorry not sorry my guy
i saw the justice tour at the spectrum in 87, wow they were good. brings back memories and jason is a great bassist.
3:08 Voice of the sky
Jason Newsted was awesome!! Him and James were my all time favorite members in Metallica
That bass makes scary sound. OMG that can be scary movie sound track. So perfect💯💯💯
I like Jason more than Cliff on bass, because Jason may not be as good as Cliff, but his solo's are much more clearer, and more a unity than those of Cliff. This is really epic, and My Friend of Misery of the Black Album to
Cliff used a ton of mids and highs on his bass, which gave it a more guitar-like sound. Jason used more low-end, which gives it a more bass-y sound, obviously.
Jason served the songs way better, and added character at the right times without overtaking anything.
So weird, so dark, so godlike...I wish I had a bassist like him in my crew to do some atmospherical vibrations like this for breaks :]
You Crazy Jason..make me Cry...😭😭😭
¨jason you are too fucking metal man. too fucking metal for your own good¨ hetfields words
Fucking badass Jason! I loooove him
jason is the man
I date all the way back to Metallica’s more humble beginnings, and I feel Newsted was Metallica’s most perfect fit for bass. Such heart and soul for the music and talk about PASSIONATE! 💪🏻🤘🏻
Tears, ever.... God bless Metallica and all's bass players by the band 🤘🏻
Really tried to like Rob more than I do, but I'm in the Jason camp. Rob's got the finger speed for sure and somehow I like to believe he's more talented than what shines through on stage and studio. Could be...Jason's pick attack lent much sonic beef to Metallica's sound, especially on the Black Album. Also, Newsted is just all around a real nice dude. Just ask Roger Sadowsky.
To live is to die is metallica's finest moment. I'm nearly 50 And been into tallica since '88, and this album is a beast to play on guitar!!
God, i miss Jason
The Great, The Big Jason!🤘👍
jason was so fucking epic
Its Like He Is Letting Cthulu Speak Through His Bass!!!!!!! HAAAAIIIILLLLL!!!!!!
20 years since he left but he will always be the one and only bassplayer of Metallica. (and yes, everybody knows, that Cliff was a legend, but unfortunately he had so little time for such a band and he will always be in my mind as "what if" bass player of Metallica)
Jason won me over at a live co cert in OKC. His base solo was the thing that stood out the most even though Kirk, James and Lara were all perfect, but Jason made the bass make sounds that I didn't know it could make. I didn't go there expecting anything special out of Jaaon. It was almost a situation where he was so damn good with his solo, that we all finally got to see him shine in his own, and to this day I wonder if the other band members weren't a little jealous especially considering that he was not an original member.
3:04 Try playing a horror game with that playing in the background
What pedals?
@@mrnohax5436 i think he used a delay and his morley power fuzz wah
@@aligueri3563 thats right
Jason please come back, please!
Great high quality vid! Damn i miss jason
Jason Monster Bass
amazing!
Rumor has it that the open spot between Jason and James was for Cliff
The thing people always negate to mention when they talk about jason is he was inspired by cliff he replaced the person he idolized the most in his instrument realm. Let that sink in
I miss Jason so much. Hopefully Jason and james will be in good relationship.
They’ve been friends don’t worry lol
That happened over 20 years ago. Jason and Metallica are on better terms than they have ever been before.
That was ….. awesome. Jason.🤘🤘
4ever!
Bro when he signaled the end of the world with that bass I died a thousand times
Jason only with Metallica when they were great!
That was a very terrifying solo at the last part. 0_0
that was the most beautiful tribute to cliff that i watch in a metallica show
I pray to the metal gods please extend this video!
Making stuff for Dutch at school with this on my background. AMAZING!!
Jason !!!!!! Wonder, beautifil ...i love !!!!!
jason rules!
1:39-1:40 The epic moustache guy that shouts FUCK YEAH!
That very end that was cut off where they transition to Puppets was about the coolest thing I've ever seen except for Muhammad from Necrophagist coming out to the stage cimpletely unassuming and turning to the crowd and immediately ripping into death metal insanity. That was probably the coolest thing I've ever witnessed in person.
El único bajista que toca con púa que amo,la pasión que tenía este hombre para tocar y hacer lo suyo es increible
Como casi la mitad de los bajistas toca con púa .-.
Very Cool Very Great...Fantastisch Jason Newsted..Geil🤘
3:03 - 5:10 my favorite solo
i love the way your account name is Newsted :D
My Eternal Idols.
I miss the days of music!! Sad it has mostly ended, in mainstream anyway
woowww great quality ... lml
Listening to this gives me strenght..
Metallica really fkd up when they lost Jason. Rob is phenomenal but Jason is a different level and was exactly what they needed.
He is the KING
Te amo jason newsted 👉🏻👈🏻🥺
Jason farting sounds leaps and bounds better than any solo Rob does XD
No.
I like newstead he did help metalica get back on their feet after cliff died so all respects to him and he didn't deserve the hazing he got
Get it GOAT!
6:30-6:31 is an amazing and memorable shot. \m/
the real musicians learn with tabs in their first years...
that wah/delay part is hell.
¡ JASON ES UN COMPROMETIDO ETERNO CON METALLICA !
Learnt most of it
Everyone loved Cliff but what this guy brought to the band was amazing too its too bad the band never really liked it.
Bad Ass!!!!!!!!!!
6:43 Even doing downpicking !!! Come man !!!
What song was he playing at 0:25?
Cliff Burton was there 6:47
Yes. Very sad. He died so young. he had so much talent. I remember the day it happened I was heart broken.
@cucarachito16 I don't wanna sound like I'm defending Jason (I think his stuff defends itself) and to be clear,I like Rob and I think he's super-talented.However,I kinda agree with what Lars said, that Metallica now is the Metallica Jason always wanted,i.e. with more creative freedom and input from everyone, not just Lars&Het.It's great that Rob contributed so much and I think it's because they acknowledged his creativity, something they never did with Newsted.Cheers
luv it when it goes to the 6 mins
🤘
What piece is Jason playing in the beginning???? I want to learn it so bad!
bad ass
Fkn WOW!
i gotta learn 1:45 - 2:59
1:25 Exorcist face mode: ON
saddest part was when he walked away from the band just like the end....................................................
this shows that bass is 1000 times better than guitar
SLAPP LIKE NOW
EPICO
I might be bias as a bassist but I 100% agree
@rikkez95
Yeah that was some pretty good shit. I'd love to know what effects Jason was using from 3:05 onward. Dude has great control with a pick too...
@conradsz ;) Cheers and Happy new year :D
@cucarachito16 that might also be because he wasn't asked how he would like to pla things but told what to play. Listen to floatsam and jetsam, he has writing credits on every song on doomsday for the deciver. Damn that album is good.
I just shat myself.
@VideoMask93
A really deep reverb. Sounds like it's set to reverse too.
R.I.P. Cliff Burton dear fellow
Is that a shoe on stage next to Jason at 2:11? Propably thrown from the crowd I guess... :-D
Correction, it's from And justice for all
Metallica best bassist by far
It’s like he’s writing a horror film
la raja este wn ,yo no soy fanatico del grupo por la historia que todos conocemos pero este concierto me mata
Just imagine a Metallica show starting just with Jason coming up onstage first to start performing just like this 5:23
