Me and by best friend Joe were working on his Ford Bronco late one night, having a good time, this song came on as we were working and we just started singing and comparing the pain to working on his Ford. Joe passed away suddenly this last February 28, 2023, I can't get over it and this song now makes me happy for the memories it brings back.

Five months before my sister was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, I rediscovered this song and texted this to her. She knew very little about REM. She didn't say much, but I could tell this touched her. She knew she was very ill but didn't know what was wrong until she was diagnosed. Nine days later (June 11, 2021), she was gone.

Mam, I"m so sorry. My stepdaughter has been on hard drugs for a period of a few years , in and out of rehab, jail, and homeless on the streets. She has let us down every multiple time all family members tried to help her get it together. My husband and I live our lives every day knowing it's just a matter of time till we receive a phone call that she's overdosed and this time she's not coming back. I'm so sorry. You're are not alone. This is the first time I've listened to this track since my heart attack back in March. I haven't ever lost hope although it would have been easy to. True story: R.E.M. started in Athens GA. Hooper Scientific, my sister-n-laws company was next to R.E.M.'s studio/office. She had lots of memorabilia from R.E.M. ... Cindy was in a fatal accident 6/15/17.
