Honestly I would like to see 3 of these artists Todd McFarland, Joe mad, and Ethan van sciver done in a style breakdown video. I like Dave Finch's art work but he breaks down a lot of his own work in his channel.
I working getting a new breakdown video going. These are good picks!
Same.
When he first started hitting his stide, I looked at Jim Lee as someone who combined the styles of vintage Byrne and Miller. When you look at his later work, you can see he's a sponge. Every time he sees something he finds interesting, he adds it to his work. One of the best examples of that was when he had Walt Simonson work on Wildcats and it completely changed the way he drew Void's reflections afterwards.
That's a great point. I enjoy the mix he's got going on now. He's definitely one of the greats, no matter how you look at it, imo.
Really enjoyed this video! Good work, Joe
You teased me with the Joe Mad thumbnail. I like this series, and I would like more. However, if I may add a suggestion: Show more examples and do a drawing implementing them. Maybe have a base drawing and throughout the series alter it to follow the "style guide" you discover. Then we can see how close the drawing looks like the Artist it's mimicking.
Great suggestion. I'm making the follow up video now and I'm going to take that advice.
Excellent video JoeBro! Its refreshing to see where one artist mind can relate and differentiate all of us. Tru study work here! BROVO.
PS. I use unilateral hatching, not cross hatch. The more hatching direction layers, the smoother the shade
Yea, at some point the cross hatching layers will blend nice! Thanks bro!
Can you do:
1. Alvin Lee
2. Yoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear Series)
3. Humberto Ramos
Those are good requests. I’ll look into it !
Jim lee has just a clean classic style, he is the 90s Kirby. I would like to see a deep dive into Tradd Moore. That dude pushes the boundaries, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Yea, I think I agree with you. A lot John Byrne in there too.
Have you watched the new Breakdown? You’ll find a nice Tradd Moore section!
@@GoodJoeArt I love John Byrne how did i almost forget about him?
I will most definitely check that out.
Dan mora and Adrian stag art style breakdown thank u 😁
Sweet! Big fan of D Mora. I check out Stag's art too.
I got Finch, Joe Mad and Jim Lee right. That are my favourite Artists anyways. If you could break Joe Mada style down in the future, that would be an instant like from me ;)
Sounds good. I think Mad’s style is super recognizable, so it’s a solid pick!
He ripped off the street fighter faces and slapped it on his characters and his stylization is standard manga so study manga and the work will be done
Same. Also if you're interested in the Darksiders 2 art book, or maybe it was just a leak from vigil. There was at least 1 or 2 pages from the style guide they gave to new artists when Vigil was staffing up for Darksiders 2, since Joe Mad was the Art Lead and the style was basically just his style it break downs several dos and donts
Nice breakdown
Man, what a great channel
Thanks, bruh!
Holy Smokes.... I loved 7...and It was MAD!
Inspiration for me is Alvin Lee, David Finch, Kenneth Rocafort and Joe Mad✨💯
The choice of artist was really cool, because I am familiar with all of them.
Yes. Popularity was the first qualifier for the list. Thanks for watching!
Sir can you make a video about mike mignolas art breakdown???
Thats a great pick! I'll see what I can do!
Hi. Really like the Street Fighter art on the poster behind you. Have always been a fan of that style of Street Fighter art. Who is the artist? Thank you.
He is one of my favorite Artists as well. He actually in the line up of artists in this video. Alvin Lee.
@GoodJoeArt Thank you so much for the reply. I haven't got around to watching the full video yet but definitely will do very soon. Thanks again.
Nice I got the 6th right. Knew it was Joe Mad😂✨💯
Yea, his swirling lines you can see a mile away.
great video although i'm disapointed since i was more interested in joe mad ! 's approach.
Thanks! Comic Artist Style Breakdown will return and next time I may be able to do up to 3 artists, since I won't have to explain the same things over.
I got joe mad right. I would like u to do a style breakdown of michael turner plz?
Oh yea, he's in the running. Big fan here.
Can't wait!
Breakdown Joe mad
I got Finch, Mad, Silvesrry
🤘I need to do deep dives into those 3 in a future video.
Do j Scott Campbell pls
Great video I had some of them right. I think Brian Hitch has to be included in your great comic artist line up. I feel jim lee is just in copy mode he barely does passionate work he got the job so to speak no need to flex.
Yep, BH is as solid as they get. I left off several that I think deserve the spotlight like Art Addams, Michael Turner, Sylvestri, Miller. Hoping to do a follow up of these one days. Thanks for your thoughts!
Did you do one for Mike Mignola?
No, but he would be a good one. What book do you think is his best work?
@@GoodJoeArt I'm partial to any of his Hellboy stuff, but anything would be good!
Mike is amazing, his compositions are second to none, even if his rendering isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Do joe mad!
For sure...He deserves it!
There's Michael Turner who did minimum crosshatching,
He'd be a good one to do. I'll have to do more research since he was taken from us early and the art stopped.
Sam Keith Guy Davis Mike del Mundo
Noted!📒
Hi 👋
:)
Hey big head I got COVID so I'm down for a few days dont get a big head while I'm out sick
You know I can't do that.
😂 PЯӨMӨƧM
Yeah, yeah sure, educational video about dynamic contrast and visceral shapes and fancy art words blah blah blah - What I REALLY wanna know is how Joe stole all these guys sketchbooks and copied their etching homework to get content for this video.
Ninja skills are real dude.
