If the button doesn't pop-up, you may go to the Tools section in the menu bar. Tools - explore. However, you must create a new slide for it to help you in the layouts.

It did not come for me at first but it came, you need to create a new slide and start editing it if the explore icon is yellow in colour you can use it, if it is not yellow you can not use it.

Sadly. The explorer function has been removed from all Google. It will not be replaced. You have to go back to old school manually doing everything.

The built-in image search is already filtered for images available for non-commercial reuse, but it's always worth checking separately. My go-to site for free images is unsplash.com
