sir can you play a cover of symphony of destruction from megadeth?
pls do so
Alternative picking is great, Cross String Picking would be a cool video too!!!
You Rock man!!!
Right on ;)
Legato technique next!
That guy is so good!! You did well too Mr. Sweede!! \,,,/
DAMN OLA! WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO GET " VOGG FROM DECAPITATED/MACHINE-HEAD ON THE SHOW"!!💪💪💪😈😈🔥🔥..YOU WOULD LEARN HOW TO PLAY BETTER SICK RIFFS AND SOLOS!!
-Lessons with John-
Ola learning sh^t
Somewhere, right now, James Hetfield felt a disturbance
As if millions of Metallica riffs suddenly cried out in terror... and were suddenly silenced.
An absolutely hilarious comment! God job sir!
@@JakobStrand tack tack :)
Oh, man! That made me laugh... :'D.
He felt some disturbance in the force... he felt the dark side
This dude is right, when i started playing, i learned a few scales and speed comes with practice, once i had it down, the speed just comes. These litrle riffs, scales etc really do make you a better guitar player. Start slow and after awhile your shredding and you dont even know how you got there!!
12:53 - Ola's excitement that Jon said he was clever
Just what a 70 year old needs! A really good exercise! (For my brain as well as fingers!)
Fuckin rock on brother 🤘🏻
Jon is amazing! 🤘🎸🔥
Jon's guitar is plugged into the carpet :DD
It's an 8'x12'
I wish my carpet sounded like that
Heck yah saves some space in the room
Ikea amp
Believe it or not, there are already speakers like that for cars, where the armature itself serves as the membrane. Continental made it like 4 years ago.
The accents on 2 and then later on 4 were kicking my tail.... Solved it with inflection in my counting. With the traditional one-ee-and--aa counting I emphasized where I needed to accent in the count.
For the twos: one-EEE!-and-aa, two-EEE!-and-aaa, etc
For the fours: one-ee-and---AAA!. two-ee-and-AAA!, etc
This really helped me out when I applied this approach.
Love these types of videos and content. Incredibly informative and practical. Looking forward to more of these!!!
Ola I'm quite thankful to have found your channel! I started playing guitar in the early 90's but just sucked. Life has kept me away from practice for a long time but you have inspired me to pick up my dusty guitars buy a new amp and try to play again. Thank you dude! Thanks for everything from will it chug to this you are quite amazing!
One of the best lessons EVER! I can really see where this will help me better visualize the fretboard all over the place!
Jon's lessons are awesome. Been using them for a few months now to refine a lot of my technique and starting to notice the improvement
I like to see great guitarists like Ola still learning new things
This is class masterclass!
Much love this series!
Thank you for that lesson Ola ❤️❤️❤️ great teacher
and thanks for being so authentic
I really had fun watching this 🤘🤘🤘
I needed this a lot. This will help me and I’m sure many other beginner/intermediate guitarists. Thanks Ola
Great segment. More Jon!
Patterns Through A Scale Repeated Consistently Is One Of The Greatest Concepts For All Scales.
I quit playing for years because someone stole all my musical equipment, but I recently got a new Ibanez and a nice amp head to go with a Randall cab my friend gave me. I found your channel shortly after and watching your videos make me want to play 24/7, which is slowly making me a better guitar player. Looking forward to more Lessons with Jon for sure. Just wanted to say I love all the content!
Thank you ola for content like this it really helps me focus in on my mechanics and to work on those things as well
BEST CHANNEL FOR GUITAR NERDS. Keep up the good work. Glad your adding in the additional of lessons too.
9:42 that shoe lace example is spot on and we can all relate to it!
10:00 then Ola suggests opposite approach of going as fast as you can then fix your technique
best of two worlds
Both are valid, Shawn Lane himself said among others like Troy Grady to start blistering fast, to find the comfortability in doing so, then slowing it down and making sure you keep the comfortable "good" technique when slowing down too
Been looking at working on my alternative picking after being lazy with for so long, so this is perfect. Thank you!
This is so motivating in every aspect.
Love this Ola, very helpful video!
Cheers for the including GP file
I put it on my playlist... I should watch it again with my guitar. Thanks Ola for nice video with your teacher!
I havent moved beyond acoustic since I started playing guitar 5 years ago. In between, I didnt touch a single guitar for like 3 years. Recently, I got one acoustic and am practicing strumming and picking, being really patient since I want to get my first electric guitar. Thanks for this video OLA!
This guy's been in the gym with John Petrucci

BTW, is nice to see Ola struggling a bit like a mortal man :-*
Great lesson !!!
Good exercice ! We can start picking down and start picking up. Also rythm can be ternary 😉
I love ola’s humility
Great video!!
Did not know Ola does not know much music theory! Wow Great exercises thanks! Cool how he repeats the notes by ear. Best skill to have imho.
Technical Difficulties by Paul Gilbert is also a great exercise in that realm!
"Dark Eternal Night" by dream theater is an excellent riff to practice alternate picking
if this series can become a serious side CZcams channel it will be INCREDIBLE for everyone!
This is a grate idea hope duit more video like this 😎👌🏻
That purple guitar is gorgeous! Btw, awesome vid!!
Slick pattern. 👍
That rug amp sounds incredible
Ola: "Uh, Jon, Tell me If im doing this right..." CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG
Well... time to practice
Gonna try this :-)
wonderful!
That pattern sounds like the end of Dream Theater’s Fall into the Light. It’s nice to see an artist at the caliber of Ola learning.
Ola är så öppen och skön. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Jon is ace. What a monster of a player wow
Heard a Descendents-like riff in there! Sweet.

TY ola 🤘
super cool como siempre ola loco saludos desde venezuela
MORE !!!
Awesome
I love that purple guitar I have a Jackson but I want a solar
Starting with an up- or downstroke depends on you right hand position, especially how you prefer to hold your pick. I prefer to hold the pick pointing slighly upwards, so starting with an upstroke is definitely more cofortable, as the pick is positioned above the strings right before you have to switch to the next string. If you prefer to hold the pick pointing slightly downwards, start with a downstroke. If you are a master of pick the slanting technique anyway, you'll do it automatically the right way ;)
That purple guitar is looking nice.
Completely unrelated to the focus of the video, but DAMN I love that prototype AB1.6HTPB.
Jon is no teacher, he is Master!!!! O.o
Watching a professional learn stuff makes me feel that much better about being a new guy and still needing to learn almost everything lol
Can we have more of these pls? :) Jon is awesome
Ola, you should get a super duper bad ass metronome to use with Jon in this series!
ABBA FTW! my childhood. Play 3 notes and I can sing the song. 70's were so fun
Love the ABBA shirt
This is sweet dude
The thing with an effective music lesson that is pure gold is that point in the lesson when your brain fart hits and you're mentally exhausted form applying the concept. 5:39 you can see it in ola's eyes.
