- Ukraine has carried out a "massive" drone attack on the Black Sea Fleet in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, damaging one warship, Russia has said.
Nine drones were used, a top official said. Ukraine has not commented.
Without providing evidence, Russia accused British troops of being involved in Saturday's attack - and in blowing up gas pipelines last month.
In its response, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said Russia was "peddling false claims of an epic scale".

Ukraine has highly competent Armed Forces, Russia needs to have an excuse for its failure and doesn’t want to admit that a country with hardly any naval forces has beaten them, supposedly one of the Worlds Major Navies, in their own backyard. Perhaps the Royal Navy could have helped out but there is no reason to think the Ukrainians aren’t capable of of carrying out such an operation without the assistance of others. (With the possible exclusion of intelligence information)

One ship sustained "minor" damage say the Russians? The fact they even admitted a ship was damaged is significant. I'd guess major damage. One report I read said a minesweeper has had it's hull "pierced". I'm guessing a ship with a "pierced" hull may be of limited use.

You should read about the Pacific War - the amount of damage a warship can take and still be operational is quite impressive.
I suggest the trilogy of Ian Toll.
However, it requires good damage control crews (and the ship itself is in good condition - water tight sealings, stuff like this) - which after what happened to the Moskva I seriously doubt.
So yeah, in this case there is a good chance the ship is out of commission.
However, your guess is still wrong, a ship with a pierced hull can very well still be combat ready. If the crew is well drilled and the ship was well maintained before the attack.

I worked for an American subcontracting company that did work for a Russian owned company with all Russian men working there, in the electronics industry. I worked there for 15 years and the Russian men were just the worst. The company I worked for was called into solve a production line bottle neck that was preventing the companies growth. The bottle neck turned out to be pure Russian laziness. The component that was being assembled by the Russian men took them each one per week build. The first one I ever built while in training took me 3 days, later, one a day each. After my first two days working on location along side the Russian men, they literally sat on either side of me at lunch and in classic mobster movie style told me to "SLOW DOWN!". I dealt with laziness, lying, threats, bullying and in the end, they all lost their jobs and blamed my company. Russia is a pathetic county full of lazy POS.

Erm, yes it was. It became part of Russia in the mid-18th century - under Catherine the Great, I think - and remained so until Khrushchev hived it off to Ukraine when he was Top Man in the USSR. At the time it didn't seem to matter much because it was all part of the Soviet Union anyway. It was only after the collapse of the USSR that it became a vexed issue.
