The Ford Ranger is an awesome small-body truck that often doesn't get the credit it deserves. It's a truck that is up to whatever task you can throw at it, but when it comes to headlight customizations, the options available all underperform when compared to the OEM Halogen and the OEM LED headlights. So my 2022 Ranger came in finally and it was built wrong without the LED's so I really like these and am willing to purchase them but I have a problem. How do you turn off the DRL? Without it being controlled with the menu when I am at a drive in or need them off with power inside how is this done now? I would hate this to be a deal breaker but I need control of them. Thanks great video and BS for Ford making this many steps..
You would have to wire up a custom switch, these tap into a fuse that gets power with ignition normally.

Before buying a new Ranger I had a brand new 2018 F150 that I immediately bought Morimoto XB headlights, fog lights and tail lights for. You do wind up tearing down the entire front end of the truck but it's all easy lifting and the step by step instructions either on youtube made it so simple. Sure I was nervous at first tearing down a truck I had for about a week but 100% worth it. I said after seeing them on my f150 I wouldn't hesitate to do them again because they look so good so that's where I am at. The light output is ridiculously good.
One item that was not addressed in this video is the DRL of the XL and XLT Halogen headlamps - those use the low beam bulbs as DRL instead of the Lariat dedicated DRL LED. Would this Morimoto headlamp activate the low beams when it receives the DRL signal from the truck, or would it leave the low beams off and activate the new DRL instead?
The low beam on the Morimoto headlight would come on, UNLESS, you disable the factory DRL function using the truck's infotainment menu. Also, the Morimoto headlights DRL bar, is powered independently, via the fuse tap. so it's not dependent on the DRL signal from the truck, just power from the fuse box.

So with the XLT, and DRL disabled from the settings menu inside. The DRL will still come on during the day, but the low beams will not? Correct?

That fuse you took out was the power steering assist in my truck… The lighting control fuse is blocked by the big black square fuse. What should I do?

What differences are there between the 2015-2018 models and 2019+ models that make these incompatible with the older trucks? They appear to be pretty much the same shape and dimensions 🤔
The difference is 2015-2018 is a foreign market vehicle for the USA, technically we didn't have Ford Rangers from 2013-2018. They were brought back into the USA for the 2019+ options.
@@drivenhaley4428 Yup, I'm aware. It gets confusing for us foreigners when a lot of the information online says 19 and up since we don't know if it's because of an actual difference that makes the part incompatible, or just because the people who wrote it are in the states 😕

I bet if you put the GTR lighting in the factory halogens or led, they would be way brighter than the morimoto full assemblies
More intense in the center maybe but the spread of light from the full assemblies is unmatched!

@@drivenhaley4428 just standard upgrade led bulb will out perform this new headlight, so we really just getting a new design. At least the new headlight unit better than stock. I will stick to my $50 led bulb. And maybe get these headlight units if they go down in price. TY.
That is not necessarily true if you think about it.
Putting an LED replacement into an OEM headlight can be brighter, in this case, 217% brighter... but it can also be lacking vital things needed for good lighting. When you put the LED replacement into a stock housing, you're going to have more glare regardless. You also aren't going to get such an intense beam pattern that a dedicated projector would give you. If anyone were to ask what I prefer, the brighter LED or the dedicated projector housing I would go with projector any day. The XB LEDs use dedicated LED projectors which not only give you a bight output but also have a CLEAR cut-off line and step-up beam pattern. Not to mention, the XB LED headlights will have a wider beam pattern than the OEM or LED replacement would. There are many benefits to upgrade to the XB LED full headlight unit.
@@drivenhaley4428 100% agree - My XLT will be getting these. I didn't get the Lariat due to a few reasons in build and options, and the stock Halogens definitely need to be swapped, but not with the standard reflectors. The LED projectors are the safer and probably more durable (most LED drop-ins cant' fit the dust caps) option for me.

We notched the fuse box to fit the wire!
Ok guys we are almost there, just four tx30 bolts, 18 tx25s, 47 10mm bolts, 7 clips, some Velcro, little bit of glue, and lastly some zip ties made of adamantium .

Depends on how familiar you are with removing a bumper! Likely about an hour.

can someone help me i have a 05 Acura tsx it has d2s bulbs but want 2 change the to led is there any adaptor i can use to change them
Too be honest its best to stick with HID's. It takes a lot of work to convert it over to LED.
