The Moons can restore just about anything!
Including faith in human nature ❤❤❤
@@juliehilton1701 absolutely!
My father was a tailor for Hector Powe in Aberdeen and had this machine. When we were kids we would listen to him using the treadle sewing machine up in the bedroom making kilts for private clients. Singer sewing machines are almost indestructible.
Nice work all! The horses all look so well cared for with their shiny coats and tails.
I agree that all the animals look like they are living their best life.
My grandmother had a similar sewing machine! It was hinged and could be dropped below the top of the cabinet to be hidden. Then two flat wooden pieces could fold onto each other as a cabinet top. The machine was hidden away!
My moms too! My sis still has it, she is 64. And my mom bought it used so we don’t know it real age. It still has the most lovely cabinet.
I learned to sew in my Mother's most prized possessions:
Singer sewing machine, foot pedal operated.
It was the traditional black & gold.
Hers was in a beautiful cabinet -- walnut? Or, just the stain.
It was heavy & sturdy.
Mother was born in 1919, married in 1944.
I assume she bought the singer before she married?
Absolutely no penny to spare when I was growing up.
I am the youngest of 5; Mother was youngest of 7!
I remember carefully opening the top of the cabinet & lifting the machine into place to sew.
Nick did a super job getting the old industrial singer sewing machine running and installed flush with the table. It will definitely make the mending jobs a lot easier for Jenny. Thank you Magical Moons for everything you do. 🙏❤️🇨🇦
Nick Moon strikes again. Is there nothing Nick can't do?
What a great team Jenny and Nick are.
The machine is still going strong. Looks great. Happy sewing.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Great job on bringing big Bertha back to working condition Nick. My grandmother was a seamstress in the 1920’s and worked on one of these machines. As a little girl, it was my job to turn the handle for her while she sewed. It’s a special memory for me. Those machines will go on forever as long as they are cared for.
The Singer machine is a beaut. Even if old. ❤❤❤
Love you all. So happy to see the ole Singer come back to a good life, just like the Legends have. ❤
Wonderful to see that old Singer up and running again. Good on you Daddy Moon.
Charlotte and Grace are looking so healthy and filled out. Great job! ❤
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
The horses all look so healthy and Bertha is glorious in her new home.
I have two electric modern sewing machines and a 1905 singer hand crank that was given to me by a friend. I learnt basic sewing skills as a young girl under the supervision of my auntie on her old hand crank making simple skirts..I do a fair deal of sewing many years later but give me the old singer every time. Amazing how it dealt with thick towels that I had and needed some TLC. my machine threads left to right.
May The Moons shine forever. Paradoxically, You are my sunshine!🥰🥰
Please have Nick add a jig saw to the Amazon list.
You have made Big Bertha look so much better already. An awesome old machine. Great job Nick! You are a master at all things you do. All the best!
Well done Nick. She is a beautiful old girl that will keep on working for Jenny.
Jenny looking good! Love seeing all the legends. Love to you all.
That is a really good fit Nick. I am sure the sewing machine will do a good job for many years to come. Hand turned sewing machines are a delight to use, very easy and strong. Jenny will love it. 🙂
Catch the thread on the attachment part where the needle meets the machine
There should be a C shaped small attachment to keep the thread close to the machine at the base of the needle, iirc
I called it a loopy thing, but, yes, the thread needs to be caught so that it can maintain the tension and doesn’t billow out like a sail on a ship.
So pleased the machine is now installed for you to mend the blankets and other things. 👍
Nick is so talented……. “Suzie sewer”. Looks great!
Perfect! My grandmother's namesake is back to work, and for a good cause! My grandmother (born in 1912) inherited her Singer treadle machine from her own mother (married in 1901), and we all had our first sewing lessons on it. Oh, I also read that if we hit like at the beginning of the video, YT blows us off as a bot and it doesn't count on the algorithm. Best to wait till half way through or after to hit like. Blessed be, Magical Moons!
I will let the other channel know what you have found out thank you 😊
Big Bertha is out of retirement and ready to rock those rugs. Well done Nick xx
Great to see Bertha come to life. Couldn't have asked for a better home than with the Moons. Have fun working with her Jenny 😊
*Awesome to see the old sewing machine up and running again...🙂nz*
Well done for getting Big Bertha working! Sian is so clever to know how to use her😊
It always make me smile when I see Grace following Lottie - friends for ever ❤️
Nick you are so handy, a serious bit of woodworking going on there 😊
Wow! Nick can do everything! So great to see beautiful old things made useful again. The horses are looking so happy and well. Thanks!
I love Bertha! What a beauty ❤ 🇨🇦
I have a newer sewing machine but the best machine I learned how to sew on was my mother's all metal machine called White, it was truly the best. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Another really interesting video plus the multi talented Nick strikes again! Xxx
Whenever I watch your videos I’m transported into your wonderful lives and it makes me really happy ❤
Grace and Charlotte look so beautiful! So shiny and fit!
Well Done Nick! Sewing machine same age as my Grand mother who had one just like yours & still works!
I think Harold needs a new friend 🦃
I think they said he has palled up with Rhubarb and Custard.
Wallace doesn't seem terribly enthused with life. Did we catch him on a hot day, poor thing, or is he embarrassed because he's a bit naked?
Well done Nick! That a first rate job, especially without the jigsaw.
Jen, I loved that you dusted the windows in the morning and dusted the horses in the afternoon!
The MOONS do it all with joy, this channel brings sunshine to our days.
Really hope & pray that Rupert & Harold are full of joy. All of you Moons too, of course. 🤗❤️🐴🦃💕🙋🏻♀️🇺🇸
All the horses look so good🐎
The Legends 🐴🐴🐴🐴are living an idyllic ice in a bucolic setting🌟
Idyllic place
Grace looks magnificent - all shiny and new. Well done Moons.
Great work Nick ❤
THanks for the smiles!
Put new jigsaw on your list?
Great job, Nick, on the machine and table! I must say, Grace and Charlotte are such a testament to the wonderful care you give your animals! The Legends are gorgeous animals! You are such a gift! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
On another YoTube channel ‘Manor and Maker ‘. Sara is a collecter of old sewing machines and restoration and uses hers also for her sewing projects. Lovely to see Nick using his Magical Power on everything he touches, a great help for Jenny.😍😍
Love love love the sewing machine!
Reminds me of my mothers sawing maschine that my sister still has and uses. Well done Nick
Moons my darling family. The Singer sewing machine is the best. My mom used to have those old pedal ones. Where you use your foot on the pedal to make the needle move to sew. The horses look good. I’m glad to see everything going well. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Good job with cutting the table. Love ya 🕊❤️🌞🙏👍🌈🌹🇺🇸😇
❤❤❤
Nick & Jennie Your Both Incredible, Thank goodness I’m Your Friend ( I’m Hoping) Beautiful Charlie Toby Rupert and Amazing Osker Robin , Jennie You Got An Awesome Family 👌👍👏👏👏👏👏
We knew you’d do it Nick. There doesn’t seem to be anything the two of you can’t do. Excellent job. ❤
I was also dropped by CZcams as one of your subscribers. Shame on CZcams!!!!!!!!!! I have noticed it on different channels that I have been watching for years.
The butlers have had the same problem when they tried to find out the problem they were told there was no such problem 😮
She is ready for her new work! Nicely done.
Lovely job, perfectly fitted!
I have a treadle, it was my Grandmother's. Oddly enough, I had to thread the needle from the right into the eye instead of from the left like we do for most sewing machines. I see a smile on Bertha's face as she's put to use again, I think they hate not being used.
👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
What a beauty of a sewing machine! 🪡🧵
Lovely video again and well done Nick and Sian for getting the old machine working again. Lovely also to see more of you Jenny and the horses, especially Grace and Charlotte.
What a beauty Big Bertha is!
The machine looks a long way from the table edge. I hope Jenny has long arms and good eyesight! 😊
I love the way you repurpose everything! ❤
I was thinking the same thing! I have my machine close to the edge of my table.
I'm sure Jennie had a say where it was placed. 😉 I think having it farther from the edge might also help support the large heavy rugs she'll be repairing.
Happy Sunday
Grace and Charlotte look amazing 😀😀😀
Big Bertha looks good in her new home. Happy sewing! 😊❤
Mr Fixit! At work again! Great job!
What a beautiful machine. I'm so glad it's been given a second chance and what better place than with the magical Moons. ❤🐨
Wow I can't believe the difference in Grace in such a short time. You guys are amazing ❤
You tube does cut people out often. Checks to see if you are still viewing that channel.😢😢
This is amazing and well done Nick!
I’m so thrilled for you Jenny!! Great job Nick!! Awesome Singer machine and you breathed new life into her ♥️👍🏻♥️ I loved the video and Jenny you always do such a great job filming and editing. Thank you for sharing with us. 🙂
I have a 1890’s treadle sewing machine. I made my daughters wedding gown on it. My new Singer couldn’t handle the thickness of the heavy satin, but that old treadle could. FYI they do sell a hand crank for sewing machines. I have a Jones bullet bobbin machine with a hand crank too it just amazes me the engineering accomplished making these machines with no computers. They are remarkable pieces of equipment that just won’t die.
my great-aunt had a singer that had a hinged arm. you could click it up so that it was horizontal- I suppose so you could change the needle easier. i was playing underneath it, jumped up, and split my forehead and nose down the middle! my poor aunt, she felt terrible, but it wasn’t that deep- no stitches. still have the scar, tho, 52 years later ❤
Nick, for you just eye balling the sewing table cut, you really did a fantastic job!
From my Laundry/Sewing room to yours Happy Stitching❤❤👏👏 Sew pleased Nick got Berthe up and running. Genius sewing machines that can run for ever. The legends will appreciate all your work as do we❤❤❤
Hi Jennie and Nick, well done on Big Bertha Nick, I had no doubts about you being up to and finishing the task. As I watched Auntie Sian thread the needle, I had said to myself "wow" I could have never had done that, and that quickly. I am happy another blast from the past will be kept out of the landfill. Thank you for all you are doing. Love from N.Y.
Love this channel ❤
I had an old singer. Sewed leather, denim you name it! It worked so well! Love your presentation by the way very interesting video format! 💕😊🇨🇦👋🏼
I was unsubscribed too, I’m glad you mentioned that so I could fix it.
Tip: Hold the top thread & bobbin thread with some tension at the back of presser foot for the first stitch to commence.
Excellent tip , otherwise you get ‘birds nests’ on the back of your work. 🐎🐎🧵🪡❤️🩹
Love seeing the ol girl come back to life and be used again.
Well done yous are amazing family love seeing jenny sewing room ❤️ 💖 I am doing mine at the min , but would need help lol
Fantastic 😁🐴🐎🐴🐎
HAPPY SEWING MAGICAL MOONS 🌕 As a long time sewer and an avid fan of your channel and Family, this Singer sewing machine brings back nostalgic memories of my dearly departed mother who taught me to sew🥰🥰🥰Just love it and you guys 🥰🥰🥰🥰
So glad to see that Little Liv's nameplate was used in the resurrection of Big Bertha. A lovely touchstone. Well done Nick and Sian for your help. 👏👏 More power to your elbow Jen. 👏
Bravo! 🎉 Bravo Nick and Jenny Moon! 🎉 Lovely ❤
YAY!
Clever Nick! I’m checking out the throat space! Much longer than today’s machines. I quilt and would love that much space for my machine quilting. ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Lovely vid 🥰 was that Ep floating around the yard when Nick was routing? Wonder what Ru will call this next visitor 😅
I think we're all Paul! 😂😂😂
🥰🌙
I have an old Singer sewing machine that still works, 1900's, you use a pedel and move it up and down, beats the electric one. Always working Mr Moon, take a rest. Enjoy Your day.
Hello Moons! What a wonderful job you did setting up that table for Bertha! Perfect! I have an industrial Singer I call "Beatrice" (the name of the granny who had her before me). Beatrice is a 96-40 model manufactured in Elizabeth, New Jersey around 1937. She'll go through about 8 layers of heavy denim, and I've used her to repair horse blankets and chaps. I also use her for quilting and simple alterations. She does it all! You just can't beat an old industrial Singer for jobs like this. Your laundry room is looking sensational. Those gorgeous windows let in so much light! Best wishes to all the Moons from Pennsylvania!
It will be such a relief to get through the pile of mending. Congratulations on bringing Big Bertha back to life to get the job done. My sister repairs antique sewing machines and she has a wonderful collection of them too. I have one here that is portable. I'm quite jealous of your custom sewing machine table. There is very little that you can't fix now. You can even sew leather if the holes are pre punched.
great work on the sewing machine
I love the old sewing machines. They may not have done all the fancy stitching but they were workhorses. I have issues with figuring out all the settings on mine and have many times wished for the old style..... Congrats on a job well done Nick.
The horses all look so Wonderful. They are obviously happy and extremley well cared for.
Nick takes Big Bertha to the laundry and mounts her on a table -shocker !! LOL XXX 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Nothing makes me happier than to see a vintage machine raised from the dead! I own a few vintage singers and they are workhorses! Wish I could say the same about machines sold today.
I thought that was her. I already watch her channel and she does lovely work. Can't wait to see how she transforms her acreage.
I loved seeing the free-rangers through the windows and Sian too. ❤😊 Thanks for another terrific video. x
My new Singer is awful. Too many plastic parts, the thread holder lyjng sideways is why thread breaks all the time. So I use the Elgin I got in 1968. Treat that old Singer like gold!
