I'm so glad i held off playing DQ3 this long. People say its one of the best together with 5 and i absolutely loved 5.
Indeed, 5 is one of the best, I played almost all of them, I still haven't beat 11 but 3 is a masterpiece.
I’m so glad we’re in the era of preserving old pixel style of games.
Dragon Quest is the most consistently good RPG series. I am so happy they are not only doing this to DQ3, but also DQ1 and 2 so we have the entire Erdrick Trilogy. The NES Dragon Warrior was my very first RPG back in '89, I got it for my birthday that year. Still have that cartridge, too.
They are doing it. They come out next year
Holy crap. They literally went to the drawing board and COMPLETELY rebuilt the original design. This looks like by far the most gorgeous HD-2D game I've yet seen. By a LOT. The detail! The bloody gorgeous detail. Also the character models are altered a bit, the Hero's hair is less huge and the model sizes are very well thought out, plus the movement is fluid...so nice. I'm wondering if they added in a quest system, or some new dungeons, or new boss fights? It sounds like they beefed up or more heavily emphasized the vignettes and NPC's, ala DQ9 (not 7 of course...wow wouldn't that be something...help, I'm 30 minutes in and I haven't left Aliahan!).
It's worth noting there's a male and female version of the Hero both present in the footage. The female version has shorter hair.
@suicunesolsan lol just minmax vamp/sexy female personas as usual. Best class changes are oomph mage-> warrior, merchant/thief->Sage and cleric->martial artist though gadabout can whistle and go for gold digging with luck from merchant changing to that. Cleric or mage can be a Sage too but they level slower and you got half the Magic, so it is kinda redundant.
People oversell the graphic look when it's so common let alone older versions with about the same gameplay so far is like $5 compared to $60. It's a shame they don't put gbc/nes with treasures 'n trapdoors on switch online, but as Nintendo avoided with pokemon let's go and advance wars, they wanna pressure you to overpay for the new one.
I tend to learn ALL but the LAST White/Black mage spells in game this remake is adding IN a few of the DQ10 spells so it may actually TAKE 60 lvs which in turn the Sage class is NOT worth using for all 60 lvs at all.
Even on this remake I'll really only use the physical jobs or at least Warrior/Fighter AFTER most of the Black/White spells are learnt on the 3 None hero's + Whistle usable on 1 of them..
If the Monster tamer class added to this remake is PLAYABLE from the Start KEEP it in the party until it learns its FINAL breath move which SHOULD be a ice move that does around 200 to 250 BASE damage to anything NOT immune to it.
@veghesther3204 hi again, you sound informed. Yeah it's crazy how much a Sage looks good on paper until you analyze how little mileage you get in the long term. Dracky Quest with 3 gadabouts or 2 with a Cleric, may be funny. Their high luck makes for good martial artist criticals/dig rewards as I once got 10k gold. Though I hope the remake increases that rate.
@@MrVariant Ho boy. Vegh is a person who has either a special disorder that makes him low functioning, or maybe an accident or something that caused his brain to go mush. He finds one strategy and repeats it, often with minimal real understanding of game mechanics.
In anycase, Luck in DQ3 affects status resistance. Every class in DQ3 except Fighter/MA has a fixed critical stat of 1.56%, with equipment overwriting it if said gear has its own critical rate. MA on the other hand, is Level/256, so they continually grow their critical rate. There is so far, no cap. Who knows in this version, as Alena functions the same way in 4, but from the PS1 version onward, she has a cap of level 64. I don't think they'll increase it, I think it more likely they'll nerf it.
There's also a question of what rules apply to crit in this version. Will it be standard DQ3, and how it works where it ignores Oomph, and only triggers on a standard attack? Or will it follow DQ9~11's unique rules of applying to skills and even spells with various forms of how that looks?
Worth mentioning that the remake comes with 1 new class compared to the previous remake
4:02 Sparkle points are new for DQ3, additions from 9 and 11. But the next bit sounds like they might be taking out the pacheesi tracks and just putting in an NPC that gives you the pacheesi track reward... not sure about that. The first track was near Romaly toward Kazave... he should've gotten that far in 45 minutes to see the little hut for the pacheesi track. I hope my guess is wrong.
Oh no. Why the hell would they take out. pachisi?
Because it ONLY existed on the SNES/Game boy color versions of the game the Switch Collection of the 1st 3 games did NOT have that Dice Mini game in it AT all
Oh man can't wait to play this and 2 and 1!!!!
This looks fantastic and I cant wait to play it!
Now if only they would HD-2D remake Dragon Quest Monsters!!
I can't wait to play this game 😮
I've played every DQ game besides the original trilogy. I found the first 3 games to be a little too primitive for me. I'm stoked that they are doing a remake. I get to play 3 DQ games relatively blind.
Let’s gooooo!!!
Dragon quest is part of my life
Most wanted game of mine for the year, the three years of work really made a difference in looks. Will be very disappointed if the pachisi is not in this version but won't be a decision breaker.
I wonder youwere provided with footage of the Boss Troll, which is a later boss.
Sad u cant watch the heros fight.i was looking forward to that :c
2:55 I remember those memory spells from the GBC remake, and I thought this was confirmation that we're getting ALL the GBC content, but I can't recall if the memory spells were in the Japanese exclusive SFC remake. Did I forget?
GBC only added monster medals and an additional postgame dungeon and boss fight. The other extra stuff originated in the SFC remake
Looks beautiful man!
Which version did you play? Switch, PS5 or PC? How's the performance? Thanks!
The game looks so good i can't wait! Can you still change the line up so that you can walk around as someone else?
I’m honestly not sure! I didn’t have enough time to play around with every setting, unfortunately, but I would guess so.
Gotcha, thank you for the response!!
i played the game for a couple of hours this year (GBC edition), but i stopped after hearing about the remake. I am so glad I waited the game looks very promising! :D
This looks so goood!!!
I see there's Spells AND Abilities so I'm really hoping there's skill trees/panels, instead of how old game is: Level to X, gain Y spell.
Well, no skills were actually used. Though the obvious teaser for this is the "Robust" statement and the Warrior having MP from the start. So I do wonder how they'll unveil and reveal this in the upcoming months. Should be fun to see. By robust I wonder if they now have "2nd" tier classes? Or even monster classes with new scrolls that unlock them?
spells and abilities were separated in DQ3 already (at least starting with the SNES remake).
@@haroldallaberg6359 Not really. The skills added to the DQ3 SFC version, and repeated in the GBC and all versions since? None of them are battle skills, and ALL of them are treated as spells. Meaning anywhere that locks out magic, locks out all the "skills" as they're not officially designated as a separate type of ability. So this is not quite correct.
Warriors and Martial Artists do not have any "skills" natively in the other remakes and ports and the heavily downgraded mobile -> iOS/Droid -> PS4/3DS/Switch release.
Thief was added with some map "skills," and Merchant had some map "skills" added as well. That's it.
EDIT: Oops, I forgot Whistle for Gadabout.
EDIT: OH, and they're also not "separated" as in having independent lists. They're all combined in the same list for map abilities, whether it's Thief/Merchant/Gadabout "skills", or Mage/Priest map spells.
About that all the so called skills where all NON combat based ie Thief/Merchant/Jester (Gadabout) didn't learn a SINGLE IN battle skill at all they were all OUT of battle skills.
IF Warrior/Fighter DO get skills/Abilities in this remake I COULD see them being based on their DQ 6 and 7 counter parts so Thief may actually get the weaker version of the Rock Toss skill the one that hits 1 group of enemies but does like the same damage as the Sizzle spell 10 to 20 PHYSICAL damage but may possibly cost like 3 MP to actually use it.
If a Full 8 pages of Skills/Abilities total at least 72 skills in total are going to be in this remake its not only going to be warrior/fighter that may keep its DQ 6 or 7 skill set the Thief Job may keep its DQ6 or 7 skill set and the Gadabout/Jester may end up learning its DQ6 abilities to have in addition to Whistle.
As for what skills the Merchant may have its already current skill set in every other version of DQ3 was just Dig and Call a random shop (Inn/Church/Item/Equipment shop) at random for 15 MP but its really needs BETTER skills then those.
Can we get Chrono Trigger and XenoGears in this engine ? - In engine used for SO 2 - new one
Id wet my pants if they remade ff4 and 6 like this.. hell make ff7 like thos too, and 9
Is there any indication if there will be a public release of a playable DEMO for this before the game release?
At this time there has not been any news or talk of a demo.
Knowing Square Enix IF a demo will be made Public odds are it won't happen until like after TGS ends this year in Japan (end of September) if NOT their like 1 to 2 weeks BEFORE the DAY of release date.
I have played every iteration of all the DQ series that were released in the states. And will continue to play them, I love them all.
Hope they have an option to switch between first person battle and 3rd person battle mode.
nope attacks are first person only
Ehh ill pass but cope a lil for a 3rd person patch or mod down the line.
There's not a SINGLE FOOTAGE OF 3RD PERSON COMBAT IN DRAGON QUEST 3..... I'd love to play this but only if it had an option to have 3rd person combat.... Ahh oh well.... Maybe I'll still get it because of nostalgia 😭😭😭😭
Characters are not shown in battles??
I don't think so, only the latest entries have visible characters in combat, OG DQ all had fp view in battle, similar to Wizardry
So misleading of them :o
What about 1 and 2?
Cool
Welp! I know what I'M buying on launch day!
Has it been confirmed if we get the extra GBC content?
I don't think so
@rpgfancom dang, thanks for the response anyway.
Modern audience?
Hmmm not really I I dobout that the current generation will like such type of games
Thank you for this video. I still wish they dumped the church revive system
There's already Final Fantasy for those who want a completely 3rd person combat/hack-and-slash combat.
As for me, I always loved staring at the sprites and watching their animations so I'm glad they kept the 1st person view.
Shame.. would love to see akira toriyamas design sprites in 3rd person. Started the series with DQ11 and loved it.
@@SlapssohardI've played the classic games and I think this is one of the reasons why FF did better in the west. The traditionalist don't get it but will turn around and be perplexed when the games underperform in the west. Archaic design like this is part of the reason.
Where's the music?
The footage we were given had no music with it so we had to post it as is.
@@rpgfancom That's very suspicious of them. When you played, was there music?
There was! And it was beautiful. But Square is often touchy about music. - Zach
음성 나오나요?
@@wilkersz some players was worried because of what happened with dq11 lol
Fuck I can't wait till they redo 4.
I love how everyone's comments here are just saying what their favorite Dragon Quest is and wishing they would remake that one.
Hope they add pictures of the characters as an option for battle mode. Next to their health bar
yes please, similar to DQXI optional for free & classic camera mode
This game will be amazing😁Sadly there are morons who boycott the game because of A/B body type thing😒
Wich is just proof that they are fake gamers if thats all they care about.
Visuals, game design, combat, music ect looks great in this remake😁
I really hope we get some sprite attack animation. 😢 i know this is suppose to be have some kinda faith to the original but still .
nope all attacks are in first person
I entered Dragon Quest series last year (the year before) and DQ11 on PS4 for the first time. Frankly, I haven't finished it. I get bored of it and it is very hard for me to start playing game before I finish it. There are two things that a game can hook me; Story and music. While the game hooked me in the story when I played DQ11 Demo, I realized that the music was boring and repetitive in my ear.
I want to like DQ series, and what set my eyes on the series is Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. However, after quitting DQ11, I find it hard to start playing DQ series.
Would this remake be different?
duuude I feel you... I also started on DQ11 after all the ravishing reviews, and when it started the music hit me like a brick, ITS SO FKNG BAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDD ahahah its unbelievable they approve that for a modern game, specially coming from the makers of some of the best OSTs of all time (on other franchises ofc xD) BUT, Ive to say, after the 30 hour mark DQ11 really picks up, and I loved the game, its for me now the epitome of JRPGs, its has *everything* a classic JRPG has to have and it doesnt reinvent any wheel, its amazingly classic just in modern times, and the story that unfolds is really really good, give it another chance!
Can you still play as a female Hero?
What's a female?
@@DeadMeat991 your mom is a female
Considering that you have any
Fp battle mode is weird I want to see all the action all the characters sprites
For who are wondering if it’s in first person for battles. It isn’t, play this stamp 2:34 at 0.25x speed , he just have the camera zoomed in
Please stop posting misinformation. It has been confirmed that all attacks in battle are in first person.
트롤보스 핑크입술 사라진거 어쩔꺼임?😂
Can you still pick your gender?
Yes!
Yeah! Among all of the possible gender options that exist in life. It’s so cool.
@@LegendaryGlasses bro why would you phrase it like that?
@@haroldallaberg6359 why not? What’s the problem?
@@haroldallaberg6359he’s fishing for someone to make a comment so he can argue with them
I just don't like the first person view.I wish the characters be on screen.
I love EVERYTHING about it BUT those first-person battles :(. It is quite disappointed to see those beautiful 2d battle models when choosing attacks to then move to a first-person screen with no model nor animation at all, just vfx effects.
Maybe it'll be a settings option?
@@doublezeta2025 I rlly hope so
If it isn't it's a no for me.
I FULLY agreed with you...what does it matter if the visuals are beautiful if the battles are first person?? You can even SEE your characters in battle then switches to first person...the heck??
Boo hoo
looks like lazy money make but people eat anyway this shit!
What does it matter if this has 2D-HD visuals if the battle is STILL first person?? If they want to draw NES players like they say they want this will DEFINITELY turn them away...people already complain about turn based RPGs and now this?? It wont sell anywhere but the switch...
They should go find another franchise then. There's already Final Fantasy if they want completely 3rd person, real-time combat.
As for me, I always loved watching the sprites and their animations so I'm glad they stuck to it.
@@rendelldrawthey should at least try to appeal to a bigger audience, if they can attract more people the better no?
@@Slapssohard So far I'm getting the feeling that they intentionally didn't remake this game with that in mind and that they're aware of those who don't like the 1st person view.
I don't mind the 1st person only view but I'm expecting the monster attack animations to be above average.
They're probably leaving the "appeal to bigger audience" to the newer games.
@@rendelldraw well I'll be in the newer games (DQ pixel style) waiting room. Hoping for this remake's success then for that to happen.
I guess they spent the extra money for adding 3rd person party animations to further promote that the genders "Male" and "Female" are offensive with Sweet Baby Inc's help.
I'll give this a pass.
I don't like the look of this. Too polished.
Said no one ever! Sorrybi couldn't resist 😅
I don't see anything beautiful in the HD-2D engine. I hate this engine and this style.
