Day 245 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--posting a video of piano music every single day!
When it's pouring outside, find some music that fits! Today's video is "Stormy Weather" with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by Ted Koehler. This version is found in "Unforgettable.. The Lighter Side of Jazz".
I think a piece makes it into the realm of being considered a jazz standard when you look at the people who recorded it! This piece has been performed by Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Lena Horne and Billie Holiday among others!
This one is one of the "easier" ones in the collection. Perhaps the most difficult thing is reading the chords (lots of accidentals in addition to the four-flat key signature)! Some rhythm challenges include quarter note triplets. Those are always challenging to play, but I've worked on them a lot in other pieces!
I think I need to make a playlist just of the songs from this collection! If I haven't said it before, I love this book!!!
