- Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are building planes using Raw jet engines as the only source of thrust, meaning we get a couple seconds of strong propulsion followed by a couple seconds of NO propulsion. Who's plane can survive in the skies the longest?

About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Yzuei has been deadly lately ever since he stopped caring so much about looks
And the opposite is happening for scrap man
@@CubeSpotoh how the turns have tabled
He plays like a true coward, tbh. Stays away for the most part, and intentionally makes his builds small and fast for that purpose.
@@leroyjenkinsreturns how the tables have turned

"Today we will be limiting our means of propulsion"
Proceeds to make a big and heavy creation.
"I want more agility"
Proceeds to make a slow as hell lumbering pal.
Never change.
I mean, his creation due to all that redundancy led to his final win in so I don’t see any negatives here lol
@@xMugen6to be fair if the other two were as good fliers as scrapman it would have been far closer.
Agility does not equal speed.
Beside he probably meant manuvrability
@@qdaniele97 Agility means being able to change direction quickly and not like Scrap's plane was able to do that either.
5 rockets and a crash is what was needed to defeat JB goddamn, he really took some notes from Scrapman's book of "How to outlive your enemies by being tanky"
Still, the master of tankiness wins out, actually impressive work Scrapman
Not only tankiness, but actually outmaneuvering the enemy by sheer control even when damaged, really great play
Scrapman is the kind of dude who makes a tank that can kickflip its that manoeuvrable
props to the editor this time around, when they were introducing their planes, the music changed appropriately, the little sound effects when important moments happen, and etc
I think a ship battle using turrets with the bomb-launching-mechanism as weapons would be very interesting, because of the ballistic trajectory of the projectiles
And also because they explode on water
This needs to happen now, almost like Battleship in trailmakers, or similar to the mortar battle he had
@@merilynnshark6144Exactly, I've been suggesting that for awhile now lol
I feel like you guys should do dogfights over land so you can take advantage of the terrain.
Maybe a custom map with giant floating islands
Or the Airborne map
@@ThreeCrowns_Studiothat sounds sick, and with valleys and tunnels
@@AkwaMarine I forgot about the airborne map
Alright now we need an aerial melee fight 😂
Maybe some emps
I'd love to see torpedo bombers vs a boat match, especially with there being more of you now.
I was legit thinking about that and was about to comment it too until i saw this comment
A dogfight with even more players would be fun. Imagine the chaos as rockets are flying everywhere.
Scrap out here proving that the Buff will outlive us all with the Flying Fortress.
I really loved how creativley you painted your plane, Scrapman!
I love how the end points look all heated up like you are going too fast, good job on that!
I know you guys have done it before, but it might be fun to revisit the BattleBots premise from a few years back (hard to believe the last one was already 2 years ago). I feel like there's a lot more potential for custom weapon mechanisms in Trailmakers now since the damage system was overhauled, it'd be really interesting to see how things like spinners, flippers, hammers, etc. actually perform
Oooo yes
Hi Scrapman, since you have made experiments both on throwing bombs and conservation of momentum on rockets, I wonder if you could make some kind of "rocket thrower" to increase the relative velocity of your rockets. If it works, this could prove a devastating asset in future rocket dogfights.
2 pistons in serie will launch the rocket much faster
Thank you so much scrapman for using my idea this shows that you actually care about your viewers and what thay want to see
I don't know how easy/doable it is but it'd be cool to see an input randomizer. Say every 30 seconds all your vehicles' inputs will be randomly be scrambled. It might need to be a mod cause I don't know if there's enough logic in the world to make that happen.
Yeah, that would be a mod :/
Not possible even with mods
@@Vajdani careful, I once said something was impossible in a scrapman video. They made it happen.
couldnt inputs be pistons pushing in front of sensors and every like 30 seconds the sensors switch?
Logic gates can be assigned key inputs, though the only problem is theres not really a random number generator so you'd have to do something to make it random
Now that you have 3 players you should do kamikaze planes versus battleships, I think you'll have a blast doing that.
🤣
Whoever will win drops the small boy
@@mutebro7523 I'm thinking they put tnt into their plane and just crash into them
@@MrMattkid and whoever survives becomes the fat man and kamikazes
I think something that would be fun would be a hydrofoil battle, but you can only fire if you're properly hydrofoiling above the water
Yeah the cannon has to be on the bottom of the boat
TIPS FOR DOGFIGHTING (from a dude who plays war thunder):
make sure you keep your speed, thats the most important thing. Don't try to keep turning and wasting energy trying getting your gun on your opponent, you will bleed too much speed and stall, and become a sitting duck for other ppl. If you feel like they are turning to tight for you, you can just keep going the way you were going, because you should have a lot more speed than someone in a turn. you can then climb, exchanging speed for altitude, and then you can wait for others to make their move and be vulnerable. dive, go in super fast for a couple shots, leaving the fight, and climb back up again. Its hard for someone to shoot you when you keep your speed or are way above them.
Would still like to see something based around the push-pull propeller conceit of the Dornier Do 335, probably better as a “this was built and actually flew!” episode than a multiplayer episode. Fascinating history to it and unconventional design from a seaplane / zeppelin designer who made the possibly fastest propeller fighter of WWII (which was too late to the war and still a prototype / trainer when Germany surrendered).
Side note: winning by using the ground is valid and has been done in real life. It’s the arena known as “no room for error”. P-51 vs Fw-190, F-86 vs MiG-15 (many times), Israeli Mirage III vs Hawker Hunter, and Robin Olds’ F-4C (no gun) vs MiG-17 to name a few hair raising real life dogfights (which featured on the show “Dogfights” a decade ago).
Scrapman is definitely undeniably an excellent pilot he has true skill
I love the Crossout music when JB is showing off his build. Really ties in his channel.
Yzuei is the french fry, JB is the waffle fry, and Scrapman is the whole potato
Really cool video dude It was just as exiting and techically challenging as I thought it would be when I suggested it.
You guys should do Trailmakers workshop Olympics, where there are multiple different challenges and you get to pick among all your previous builds you have built saved in the blueprints.
Yuzei getting to understand Scapman's pro handling skillz
I wonder if a melee aerial dog fight would be a good idea
The multiple rounds with each gun type was fun to watch.
You have the best editor i have seen so far. Ive seen some good editors but yours is really good with his research and little information here amd there. Totally ups your game.
My daughter and I watched Yzuei perspective last night. Afterwards I was like "I want to see scrap man perspective" but it wasn't up. Then I wake up and BAM. Happy morning to me. Keep up the great videos.
I'm so glad you guys did this! I think I posted a comment about it on the single jumbo engine video but I don't remember, but I do know I was thinking about this because of the minigun recoil. Such a unique challenge lol.
I think it would be interesting to see some bitesize dogfighting, like absolutely tiny planes, multiple rounds per weapon of course
Love the vids you got me to playing trailmakers
A battle with like hovering air ships would be super cool
I was so fun to watch. Another great video.
Finally a raw jet engine video, I really like them but I think they deserve a good buff on their thrust to compensate for the weight and 3sec cool down
That one was sick guys! Ufo fights land sea and air at the same time
Dogfighting above ground, but when someone's plane get disabled, he has to transform to a land vehicle and continue the fight from there.
“I’m just gonna build a plane with wings”
Idk why I found this funny
Great video scrapman!👍
Here's a thought. For future air battles, define a classification of planes. Normal fighters, and heavy fighters. A normal fighter is allowed 1 engine of choice, an arbitrary weight and/or block limit, and 1 gun. A heavy fighter is allowed 2 engines of choice, but must be a minimum weight and block count, chosen to limit maneuverability. For the disadvantage of being heavier, they're allowed to have redundant engines and a second gun.
If 'normal' fighters are too weak, allow normal fighters to repair once mid-battle as well. And also probably make a rule that weapons may only be mounted forward facing. Speed and nimbleness versus durability and firepower, might spice up air battles a tiny bit. If you want multi-directional guns, may as well add a bomber class for the ultimate air battles.
I think a thrust vectoring plane build would be insane
I got this game a few days ago because of you and the first ever “plane” I made used these thrusters because I was limited by what I had in the campaign. To be honest though, I love it more than a normal plane 😂
12:03 is so epic. Yuzie BROKE SCRAPS WING TO MAKE HIM RAM JB, thats AWEDOME
Need a flying obstacle course while dogfighting 😂
Dogfighting in these games is always super cool and fun to watch.
I wanna see a can't slow down dogfighting challenge. Basically have a block limit w/out engines or guns, then add on like 4 dragon thrusters that are on a toggle and have to stay on the entire time. Then add your cycle of weapons and fight it out at max speed!
After JB attempted to ram you, I have generated a question: Have you guys done a melee dogfight?, and if not, I suggest adding it to the list.
ScrapMan SHOULD have lost that last round but by sheer, raw willpower he not only won but made JB's plane go boom
The hit on Yzuei at 17:16 was so cool
You can make the RAW jet into a pulse jet that has near constant thrust. Set the duration to 0.1 and a delay of 0.2. This would have been in the rules of the game but not the spirit.
Slow moving plane battle, with detachable sections that have a altitude sensor and the gyroscopic thrusters, to maintain the altitude they were at when dropped, with sensors and a minugun turret on each one, and each person can release up two four of those, and no weapons on the planes themselves, see who can survive the longest, and you have to drop one of the floating turrets every 30 seconds, unless you don't have any left. Once everyone is downed or unable to fly, have a normal dogfight, in the area where the floating turrets have been deployed.
How about a dog fight where you can choose between engines or weapons.
Eg, everyone may have 4 engines and 1 weapon, or 3 engines and 2 weapons, or 2 engines and 3 weapons.
You need to decide between building a tank or fast plane, with limited weapons, or a slow weak plane with lots of weapons.
Another variation will be everyone starts with 4 engines and 3 weapons, but each round the winner must delete one weapon and engine.
When someone has to delete their last weapon, they take first place, but must continue to "fight" until the next player also has to delete their last weapon (and takes second place). Each round continues until only one player is still flying, so you still have to shoot down those without any weapons.
A challenge where you have planes versus amphibious land and sea vehicles would be pretty cool
I bought trailmakers because of scrap man a couple months back and I've loved it ever since! I'm currently working on a transforming hovercar
everyone's attitude at the end was like wow scrapman is good at the game lol this is a surprise to no one
That was soooo cool
To the dude that I’ve seen in the comments requesting this for so long, good job bro.
This might sound like a dumb comment, but in these battles I would really like to see more creative gimmicks and abilities in these builds.
Sure you can have the same old plane, car, or boat battle, but what if this car had a rotatable shield in the front that can also turn into a motorcycle?
Or a plane with extendable prongs to gouge your opponents from the sky alongside hidden eject with just a propeller, a seat, and a gun?
This all might sound stupid, but try being lenient and bending the rules a bit to make all these normal old battles a bit more SPICY!!
awesome vid 😋
I think a good idea would be a dog fight without without using wings as a source of lift. aileron and elevators can be used to help with stability and steering but cannot be used to create any sort of lift or help get off the ground
i think its time for some round 2's of some of these better buildoffs, especially with jb involved now it brings new angles to all this
I love watching dog fights videos
i kinda was expecting one of them to place the minigun on the back of their plane for extra propulsion and to shoot backwards
I’d be interested to see them use their knowledge and experience in a no-holds-barred dogfight with no gimmick or limitations, using what they’ve learned over all these gimmick vids to create the ultimate plane
Alternatively, a multirounder but only from planes you built for gimmick battles.
I like both.
Video idea: trying to break the sound barrier with jet engines
Love it
Finally, they did the thing.
It would be cool if you do dogfights with light planes that go close to the speed of sound
40 seconds into video, me, "This is going to be absolute chaos."
yayyy they did that one guy's requested challenge
it would be intresting to see a weapon propulsion battle
Is that a bird? Or is it a plane? No, its Yzuei!
scrapman always tends toward a tank-style build. "how many times can I get hit and survive?"
yeuzi really likes his speed "how few times can I get hit?"
JB tends to come up with a ridiculous strategy and rely on surprise: "ha, betchu didn't see that coming!"
idk, just my thoughts ig.
My thing was that the Whole end design (Excluding Engines) was 10ish kg LESS then the 2 Raw Jets and Cockpit. Hahah
25:54 "And of course he does..." 🤣🤣
Do a MAXIMUM complexity battle with like 30 power cores with 2-3 guns max, *anything* can be on the table with this one!! (Preferably ground based builds)
I would like to see scrapman remake his old all purpose vehicles again. I loved those old vids and think I would love seeing him do it again with all the new parts!
Day one of asking scrapman to make a third all purpose vehicle video!
25:30
I guess he could say he was... filled with DETERMINATION. lol
This is fun
Proud to be the one who provided misinformation to the trailmakers wiki (It was accurate at the time of editing, I counted the goddamn frames)
Torpedo Bomer Vs Boat would be AWSOME.
idk if you've done this before but a tank battle in TM or SM would be cool I think with limitations on like how many weapons you can add and such
Its incredible how Scrapman misscalculated overheat time in the intro as well as name of the video 😂
Imagine if TM had an assess damage feature, where you could bring in your creation after it’s destroyed without repairing it (if thats not already a thing)
custom proppellor vtol dogfight next? 2 weapons, 2 custom proppellors(so not just a single propellor part) and 1 in fight repair per round. Must be able to lift off vertically and fly horizontally. Weapons have to be stuck in place, so flight aim only, can be placed in any direction. Custom proppellors can take up a 10x10 and 2 high space at most, 350 block limit(weapons and custom proppelors excluded)
That's what I'd like to see, and I know it's possible because I have built one with these specs before
Energy is very important in this type of plane compared to other types of trailmakers move.
yzuei's plane looks so cool
Its always the faster player who has the advantage when the weapons are equal.
Being able to control the range is so huge
Please make challange where in order to fire weapons, your vehicle must be at a range of minimum and maximum speed limits in trail makers. The setup is use two speed sensors, one set to trigger above a set speed, and another set to trigger below a set speed, link them all to and gates with your gun fire button. Rules are no fancy system to keep within the set speed range
Mini builds race! Make the smallest builds for land, sea, and ocean
12:00 yeah this was probably the most epic air to air combat kill in this game. A few inches over and Yzuei could have had a double kill kill.
JBRider goes out with a bang lmao
When you guys do dogfights, you ought to do scores by kills, with self-inflicted kills going as a half-point to the last one flying.
Battle idea: battle planes with offcentered thrust. You'll have to either deal with it or balance it out in a weird way.
With proper timing on a pair of engines you can make a functional pulse jet that will not overheat. Historically the only example I can think of was the V1 from the 1940s (and if memory serves it had concrete wings too).
... That's not what a pulsejet is.
Noice vid
Yuzi had the better plane, but scrapman as always just is a better vehicle pilot.
Case and point, I don't think either of them are cleaver enough to consider using the flipper to aid them in flight.
sumo wrestling on one of the new maps floating islands with a weight and power core limitations would probably be fun
You should do a battle where you use recoil for propulsion
Loved seeing your perspective! Here's an idea. What about another air battle using these same thrusters but staggered?
