    i ordered the lake and dye samplers from Nurture. they are well worth what little they cost. each dye tub had enough to bloom and color 3 batches of color powder. i was very happy with this purchase. i also sprang for the eco glitter stars and the white fluorphlogopite. thanks for all of your recommendations!

    I used to use Lake dyes in lip glosses. One thing I learned is to grind the dyes so they can disperse easily. I'm going to use lake dyes in shower steamers. But I will make small test batches of steamers to make sure the color disperses property. Lake dyes are so beautiful.

      @CreativeBathLab  Před 2 lety +9

      Maybe for gel food coloring but no extra liquid is needed for liquid or liquid-gel food color (it’s wet enough), but it will definitely NOT work with dyes! I tried it thinking I could cheat the system & get everything to dry faster- nope! It backfired & im left with under bloomed color powder that now has to be re-bloomed! 😩

IKEA sells glass containers with black sifter lids or you can lift the other side to measure it out by spoon. I have those dyes and I love how vibrant your bath bombs are. Hey Dora!
    I just made the 3 colors (red, yellow, blue) I bloomed them all and they are on paper drying now. I’m wondering how you mix the colors to make all other colors; like do you add red dye and blue dye in powder form together then mix with water and mix with a base and let dry. I think that would be blooming? Or do you mix the colors when they have already been bloomed? I hope I’m wording this correctly. You have explained everything amazing but I am just stuck on how to mix the 3 color dyes to get in primary colors. Like purple green orange. Thank you! I really hope you see this! 🥹

    Hi Dora, Thanks SOO MUCH for all you share with everyone. You're wonderful! I have a few questions, which I apologize for if you've already answered these and I didn't see. I really like the concept of being able to get the colorants done ahead of time. (I also master batch my oils, butters and Lye water for my C.P. soap. Because It saves TONS of time) my question is how to incorporate the powder into my bath products recipes?? So, Say you made a 1 cup batch of color powder, colored 3 times as you said you do, how many other colors would you be able to make out of that? (Keeping in mind, this will be going to color products like, say...bath bombs, so it's got to still be strong enough to color the bath bomb recipe) Also, How much of each color would you end up with? And how much color powder do you use in a bath bomb recipe? Like 10% of your dry ingredients? Again, looking for a strong amount of color in the final product. Thanks in advance for taking the time to draw this in crayons for me LOL 😂. Be well and blessed! Julie

    Hello, Dora
    I want to ask you for help. I bought various dyes from Nuturesoap after watching this video. Among them, when red no.28 was taken out a little bit and mixed with about 200ml of water, something subtly yellow appeared to rise above, and when mixed with blue no. 1 dye, the water became very greenish. As time went by, it became more and more murky.
    If you take a picture of it with a flash, it looks completely murky green.
    And after raising the issue, I got them a different lot number Red No.28, but they still looked the same. Can you test if your red no.28 shows the same reaction when you mix it with blue?
    However, if you mix them with baking soda and dilute them in a lot of water, purple appears again. A bit of green appears when the flash goes off, but not to the point of concern.
    I also purchased Redno.40 and the red dye was fine, but only Redno.28 dye showed a strange phenomenon.

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  Před 2 lety

      Same thing happened with mine. But for me it was like a neon greenish tint that I could see when it was in the water & also during the drying process. I also witnessed tiny individual neon green dots rising from the water when blooming the dye. But this is all 100% normal (for me anyways) & goes away completely when the dye is dry on powder. Also, when I under-bloomed the dye, the green tint would be much more vivid. Same thing with the blue - that red tint is much worse on under bloomed dye. And, if it is really under bloomed, the red/green tint is even visible after it's fully dry. Make sure you're adding adequate water to fully bloom the dye. When mixing the pink with the blue (I assume to make purple) it's not going to make the most brilliant purple, but it definitely makes purple. You just have to play around with the amounts of pink vs blue. I actually have another tutorial coming out on colors. You definitely don't want to miss it, it actually addresses this VERY issue.

  • @agreatday9566
    @agreatday9566 Před 2 lety

    Sorry if this is a little ignorant, but if I understand correctly, you are purchasing liquid dye, turning it into a powder, and then using that powder in your bath bombs? I have been trying to formulate a milk bath powder but I’m stuck on the dye part. I tried mica but it just floated on top of the water and stained the tub. I saw lakes recommended, but after watching your video it seems water soluble dyes would be best. Do you turn it into a powder so it’s easier to add to your product? Basically, I shouldn’t add the dye directly to my dry ingredients?

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  Před 2 lety

      Hi there. Sorry this was confusing for you. Dye comes in a very concentrated DRY state & must be bloomed first (dissolved in water: add 1/16 tsp dye to 5 ml. water). After, you can leave the bloomed dye in a liquid form, as it is, OR you can dry it on a base powder like corn starch or baking soda to make "color powder" (as shown in the video). I find color powder is easy to work with in all of my recipes. I used to make color powder with liquid-gel food colorant, & while you still can, dyes are just MUCH more concentrated & actually come out to be a lot cheaper. Lakes do not dissolve in water so I use them in moderation (like micas). Micas & Lakes are the ones that make a mess in the tub.
