Congratulations! I'm so pleased for you 😀 blooms are a dream for me, but I will try some of the suggestions from this care collab for dealing with vegetative clones.

That is a beautiful plant. Can see you are looking good after your plants. Have a great day from South Africa😉

  • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

Blooms or not, Hairy is a wonderful house plant 😅❤️

😁 he is! Cascading in the corner. I think he would look fabulous hanging as well, but we don't have any hanging points strong enough for his bulk 😄 great to see you Fernanda!

Yours looks more like regular variety. Well grown! Maybe more light?

Thank you Yoshi! It might be closer to the wild one, it loves growing. I agree, more light would be good for Hairy! I have been able to put cuttings in a South facing window but hairy is too big to fit 😅 perhaps another reason to cut him down to size one day.

They need sufficient light in winter to produce flowers in spring. Mine didn't flower for seven years (!) until I got LED lamps for my cattleyas. I placed it under full light and not only did it flower, the new leaves also tend to be shorter.

:O seven years! You have amazing patience! Hmm yes, I have tried cuttings in my South facing windows but no luck on the blooms, however the leaves were still long. Sounds like it is LED or time outdoors next growing season. Thanks for the advice!

Ah mine is definitely same way! Same type growth. I have mine in Coconut husk. But mine is no where near Harry's size! 😁 they require a night temp drop? Did I hear you correctly? Great video! Very informative! I still have things to learn with this orchid.

Ooh I'm looking forward to seeing how you grow yours then - it will be really useful to see the same clone in a different setup. I assume a day night drop is needed for blooming, because I have tried high light and drought with no success so far. Thanks for watching!

@@orchidsathome4475 Oh wow you have tried the drought and light with no success. Dang! Ugh guess I'm gonna try all 3!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

We can but try and try again!

Oh, this brings me a bit of pain. I had a Harry of my own, a wider one, rather that vertical, and I did lots of mistakes this past winter, and I managed to sage a couple of bulb sections only, rest got rot.

You can do it! There are some useful instructions in this care collab about dry winter rest etc. Hopefully something works for both of us 🙂
