wait, but i’m pretty sure it’s canon that that’s what they were for. it’s probably both. most octolings wouldn’t have done what they did if they weren’t brainwashed by it. i’m pretty sure it was octavio’s music combined with the goggles-

I mean marina still likes Octavio in the octo expansión (she has turquoise october stickers in her laptop) And in the splat1 credits. It shows a picture of agent 3 trying octoling goggles And an octoling asking agent 3 to return them.

no- not having control of their bodies is not what i meant by brainwashed.. 😭
when i say that the octolings were brainwashed, i mean they were brainwashed with the music, and then possibly, alongside the goggles being helpful in battle, they kept the hypnotization in place. they may be in full control of their BODIES, but the goggles probably still send signals to their brain to think of nothing but to “seek and destroy”. it wouldn’t make sense to ONLY brainwash callie with the goggles. because then what about everyone else? what about the whole “brainwashing marina”? just like the other octolings, callie was brainwashed with music and the goggles. she was still very much in control of her body, but she thought of nothing but destroying former agent 3. much like the octolings. not to mention, just because they were brainwashed doesn’t mean they lose memories or they suddenly hate octavio; it all depends on the person. marina was brainwashed with the music and the goggles, but she never and was never able to take the goggles off until the night of the concert battle between agent 3 and octavio. that’s when she was able to WILLINGLY take them off, and realized that she needed to get out of there.
but then again, they never truly outright say if they’re used for hypnotization or ONLY for tactile use like the other lore-related things in splatoon, so one could say it’s all mostly just an educated theory. this is my opinion, so i’m not gonna say you’re wrong or right 🤷

mm, but i do understand the concept of them not being brainwashed, since they grew up under these poor conditions and grew up fighting the inklings; it’s possible octavio just had military forces. but i feel like there are some octolings who just wouldn’t want to do such a thing and would run away. and if that was the case, and if octavio didn’t hypnotize/brainwash them, then why does agent 8 have those yellow rings on their ankle and wrist? aren’t those only things fugitives or captured animals (like lobsters in tanks in grocery stores) have? which would mean running away wasn’t allowed, and the only way to stop that would be to brainwash them into fighting for him; training them in the academy to become elite soldiers in order to take back more territory.
@@peachypufffthey were brainwashed more in a psychological, cultural sense then PHYSICALLY getting brainwashed. their heavily militarized culture, octavio mass manipulating them, and the overall peer pressure and collective illusion of power to the octarian army.

I'm not sure how that'd work, considering that according to Splatoon lore, the Inklings & Octolings only became the dominant species after humans wiped themselves out at the end of WWV; unless a time window's somehow involved, I don't see how it'd work.

From my POV:
The octoling name is Kayla Hope or Elite 245
After hearing the inkantation she makes a bolt for it while running she drops her ink tank and gets tired
She rests and wakes up to hear agent 3’s footsteps and couldn’t help but sing along, she never got out much other than her post in the levels and she heard horror story’s of the new squid beak splatoon putting Elites and normal octoling soldiers “out of commission” aka to poorly injured to fight anymore and so her body was filled with fright but on the train ride to Inkopolis she warms up to her new pal and she becomes a successful turf war champion

I like this kind of ASMR. Most other ASMR videos, while they're great too, feel pretty scripted, but this feels more genuine, like you're genuinely having a conversation with the speaker; like you're really there with them. Kudos to you. :3

It was while Moon was working on her first sketch, a confectionery still life, that Agent 3 arrived, and although Moon was timid at first, she warmed up to her newfound companion.
