What I love about 90s boybands are they usually don't use autotune. Just pure talent and their oozing charisma.
Autotune wasn't even invented until 1997 and wasn't widely used in the music industry until the 2000s.
Not autotune.... but pitch correction was an available technology, and it was used on the backing studio vocals, which you can hear during the choruses. They're pre-recorded. Yes they're singing the verses live and yes there is live singing here, there's just also the studio track being played at least during the choruses for added strength and emphasis on those parts

The thing that's always amazed me about the Backstreet Boys is how in sync their voices are and how tight their harmonies are. Truly amazing

@@souppot3831 I mean let's be fair. Kevin is not naturally gifted for singing. Some vocal coaching made him be able to hit the notes and sing in tune, but he's definetely not a good singer, thats the reason Howie and him get the least amount of solos.

+Maya Thayil to me its always the vocal abilities and knowledge of harmony that really separates Bsb and a lot of the vocal groups of the 90s from say 1D and similar groups this day in age. 1D has catchy tunes but if u dive in the older groups put more effort in backing vocals, harmonies arrangements and even doing interesting runs.

@@anaygupta2345 they suck, tbh when I discovered that BSB was a boyband I thought "like 1D?" so I tried getting away from them coz I don't wanna listen to something like the trashy 1D. (And I'm a rock person so I don't listen to much pop at all) But I gave it another thought- "but these BSB guys have voices with very good quality" and decided to give them again a chance.
First thing I did was listen to a 1D song and surely, it sucked, but yeah sure it's energetic but they don't harmonize beautifully like BSB, they just sing and the background is almost unison, I did hear one guy like- harmonizing in the background but it's so overpowered by the other guys just singing the original tune so it was barely heard. Their voices doesn't have that quality that I want. And they just SUCK. And then after listening to them- I came back to listen to another BSB song, and HOLY- that's where I realized how good these guys are, they're a boyband on a different league of their own, they're real singers. And so- I gave up and started listening to them. I further discovered how beautiful their voices are especially in their R&B songs. (BSB is pretty much the only and will always be the only pop group that I will ever listen to.)
