The issue with erratas os that it feels like there's 2 different teams doing them. 1 that understands what was broken about the card and how to fix it while keeping it truly strong and another team that just wants to make it into an entirely different card.
Also, how many cards on the banlist could come off tomorrow if they simply got a hard once per turn clause, probably at least half the list.
I completely agree about erratas. I'd rather have the broken cards still on the banlist and get interesting retrains instead, which they already do! So I don't understand why erratas exist in the first place.

Cards had erratas even before releasing on TCG, aparently even Wiki states
Both Sangan and Witch effect would trigger once it hit the grave(no need for hitting the field) so u could just discard them and grab exodia pieces
Also Toon World would require to pay 500lp each of your turns , and once destroyed u would gain all that back.

Erratas are a lot better for players with less money.
Because if they did that, they'd just take up another expensive slot and you'd complain about more greed from Komoney. I don't see why people are so eager to spend more money when the piece of cardboard already exists.

my tinfoil hat theory is they wamt snake eyes at worlds so unless TCG does other hits like putting restrictions on original sinful and flamberge it's because konami really wants us to play this deck
Apparently I'm the only one who kinda likes erratas? Cards like Firewall, Summon Sorc and even AFD would NEVER have come of the banlist if they weren't errata'd. Now we can still play those iconic cards with a nerfed effect (although firewall is a bit too nerfed, but that's not the point). The other use case for erratas is introducing better psct, which we can all agree is needed in ygo and does the opposite of creating confusion.
Wouldn't the ideal state of the game would have 0 banned cards, as all of them would be perfectly balanced (insert thanos meme)?
I agree, I don't see the point of filling the banlist with stuff that could come back if it was errata'd to have a hard once per turn/less generic materials/mechanic lock for old cards that got banned bc of link climbing etc. Personally I'm very happy they errata'd Ancient Fairy Dragon, it gave us back an interesting card that has anime nostalgia while fixing its design flaws, I don't really see a huge downside to that
It's the "Ship of Thesius" paradox (not the YuGiOh card, what the card is referencing), where if you eventually change out every part of a ship is it still the same ship?
It depends on perspective, but if you're changing what the card actually does than I'd argue that the card just never came off the ban list, it's just a new card with the same name.

Summon sorc will be good for the upcoming fiend link deck. Being able to go yama search sharvara then link up to summon sorc summon the sharvara to their board gives you access to any fiend in your deck while also not even negging you since the sharvara will get you a trap.
OCG / MD banlist philosophy has been cooked for a long time now. Very glad to be a TCG only player.

The thing about summon sorceress is that it doesn't even need to be played in mono-decks, there just has to be a point where being restricted to mono-types is fine. The real downside now, is that you have to expend a card in hand to use it.
I think Erratas can have a place in Yugioh. For example Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon errata was great because it reined in the power of the card without needing to ban it or murdering it. They kept its identity the same just made it less abusable.
But when Konami does stupid erratas that completely murder a card like the Chaos Emperor Dragon Errata or the Crush Card Virus Errata or the Ring of Destruction Errata then they become a problem.
But why not leave REDMD like it was and just print a retrain REDMD #2 with the watered-down effect? You just have the OG banned and the new one at 3 and everyone is happy.
@kevinvargas8355 Honestly, the ban-list needs to be de-cluttered as it is. It makes no sense to just leave cards on the list when all they may need is a hard once per turn on their effects. Or in Summon Sorceress's case, a slight change that makes the card less ridiculous. I'm not saying all erratas have been good, again Chaos Emperor Dragon, Crush Card Virus, and Ring of Destruction were erratas that didn't need to exist. But I believe there can be a place for them in Yugioh if they are done right. I think some cards could use erratas, and other cards are so broken that they could use retrains.
I think what most YuGiOh players dislike isn't erratas, it's BAD erratas. Obviously Goyo, CCV, and CED are all frustrating because those cards are now practically unusable. But Ancient Fairy Dragon is an EXCELLENT example of an errata done well! The older version of the card had too many broken things you could do with it, and the newer version was restricted to prevent some of those while still being playable and seeing MULTIPLE regional and YCS-level tops. It lets people play a card they might like a lot without it destroying the format. I think the same will be true of Summon Sorc as well.
The card text thing you mention is relevant, but I think that is just a minor downside to the upside of allowing a forbidden card to be played in a meaningful capacity again. Realistically I think most people pulling Summon Sorc out of their binders are doing so conscious of the new errata, not somehow oblivious to the fact that was banned for years and then came back. Again, I think a lot of erratas can suck, but I think good erratas allow players to play with cards they might enjoy or have an attachment to when they otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity.

Summon Sorc is gonna be fun in Orcust at least, could be a good way of unloading bricks and still be able to go into something like a Dingirsu(which can send off the brick you hand your opponent if you want) or S.P.E.C.T.R.A. consistently in the worst cases.

Mezuki, banshee, glow-up bloom, changshi, vendread core, plagues, etc. so many good cards to use sorc with in zombies.
I actually love erratas and think they've done a good job on almost all of them. I think it fixes their legacy, because they get the effect that they should have had in the first place, even if it's too late. That being said, I wish Summon Sorc was nerfed a little harder. I agree on consistency hits though (and OCG banlists in general).
I agree, better to make a new card that pays homage but leave the original banned (like with basically the entire pot archetype)

@@JohnnyFish971 I don't think people necessarily hate Snake-Eyes, more so what it promotes and represents.
It's a deck that basically requires you to open 2 hand traps to stop. Which means almost everything is going to try to cram as close to 12-15 hand traps, which, people find incredibly annoying. Not because hand traps are poorly designed, but because your opponent could just blow you out with 4 hand traps + full combo, but also, it's 12-15 slots that are pre-determined by a select amount of cards depending on deck.
It also is promoting unhealthy business models. For a while, this deck was a full grand to build competitively because almost everything you need multiple copies of is in the highest rarity slots, and some of these cards are needed by other decks (Bonfires for Volcanics or the new Salad link-4 for the archetype).
Due to how new the cards are, Konami is more likely to not severely hit the deck. Leading to a format where players are frustrated by a deck that is clearly better than everything else and viewers are board because they have to watch the same YCS feature match match-ups over and over. The banlist doesn't just balance the game, it balances Konami's fat pockets.
Konami also made the cards very clearly busted. Why can Poplar use all of its effects in one turn? Why can Ash translate into so much card advantage? Why is there no archetype lock?
When you look at Master Duel, they skipped a lot of sets. Sets that had meta relevant impacts that gave support to older decks, all just to get Snake-Eyes and Transaction Rollback in the game faster. We just got Unchained stuff and a piece of Lab support. We just got the RDA support. We don't have Horus. We don't S:P. We are still missing cards from sets that are multiple years old at this point we shouldn't be missing. They just gave us Bonfire and Earthbound Prisoner which both had releases not too long ago.
Snake-Eyes is a very unique and interesting deck. It's just that this just so happened to be the the most prominent deck when the player base is getting fed up with Konami and their bad business model and crappy design philosophies. People will naturally point fingers, because that's what humans do. But when they point at Snake-Eyes, they're really pointing at all the problems Konami refuses to fix that the deck highlights. We aren't hating on Snake-Eyes to hate in it, we're hating on it because it is the current representation of everything wrong with Konami's business model.

Snake eye by itself is a fun deck. But the links and synchros you climb into for free are the problem. Take away linkuriboh, princess and ip and the deck would be rogue at best

I think a deck summon sorc may work in pretty well before you go into their gy effects is orcust mainly orcust nightmare or any of them with the dark machine lock

When I came back to the game I was playing antimatter and I had a Banisher of radiance I remember my opponent trying to use super polymerization on it and I told them they couldn't because it has to be discarded to the graveyard I read their copy it was one of the newer ones and it no longer said to the graveyard. My heart broke. 😢
Instead of destroying Firewall Dragon, they should have banned it for eternity and made a Hacked Firewall Dragon, that has the effect of the changed Firewall Dragon that it is now

He needs to change his diet. This isn't something that can't be treated with lifestyle changes. The scarring will probably remain but the progression will stop. If I had to make a evaluation on sight I'd say his body probably doesn't process sugars very well.

i think sp to 2 is a pot of extrav hit so u cant play 3 and therefore it is more likely to lose the sps in the extra deck like a hit to decks that use extrav.

Bystial runick can very well summon 1 s:ps but not 3 different ones it's usually only 1 sp that is getting recycled with regained.

Funny thing is the new Fire King support card makes the deck arguably better without the Snake-Eye cards, especially after these consistency hits. It's already been getting tops without them.
That's not going to be true in the tcg, maxx c nerfs the snake eyes cards pretty hard. I do imagine it makes fire kings rogue after they ban oss the list after this one.
I'm mixed on erratas. I think the erratas for AFD, Firewall, and DMD were all good because they keep the flavor of the card without neutering it. What they did to CED and CCV was absurd.

I agree I absolutely hate errata’s. But I think the summon sorc errata is actually still really good. I only ever used her in mono decks to begin with and just happy my favorite link monster might actually be coming back soon for the tcg.
9:24 ehhhh, idk, sorc was pretty infamous back when she was released as a jump promo. I would argue she was almost as infamous as halq was. To me who played around when sorc was around, it's as if Konami decided to errata halq and unban him... At least that's how it feels to me.
I agree with no erratas though, it destroys the significance and meaning the card had. It's just not the same one. If they rereleased her at a time when the state of the game could handle her, then they would receive a lot more hype (and money) for her coming back... With an errata, who are the ones buying this? The collectors have their jump promos and the meta players aren't interested... People who want to play around with her? That's about it, where as if they waited an rereleased her untouched, I would say everybody would be interested.
Im mixed on Erratas. Like in some cases it could help a card be playable but not O P (i e Summon Sorceress) but at the same time, can make cards unplayable, (i.e. CCV) i think a good card that they could errata is Dandylion. Just simply add a hard once per turn on it and its playable but not as abuseable

I like erratas when they don't completely wreck a card. Like...CED went from broken to technically playable but crap...and Crush Card is now actively harmful to your own ability to win. Modern Crush Card is damn near as bad as Pot of Generosity IMO. I've been asking for an Errata for M-X-Saber Invoker for a long time now: Just make it require 2 level 3 "X-Saber" monsters, then you can put it to 3. I like this change to Summon Sorceress...and I liked the changes to both Firewall Dragon and Ancient Fairy Dragon.
It's almost like they should probably put the best player in the world in charge of lists xD
i'm sorry in advance if I might offend you on these following observations regarding on this video (Sorry I'm having OCD each time you mentioned "tier 0" format which is not). I also acknowledge the significant skill gap between us coz I rarely join massive tournaments due to tight work schedule. So here's my take as an OCG player.
1. The "Fire Nation" meta isn't really a "tier 0" format here..... FK can run pure build and topped consistently, Pure snake-eyes is beatable, infernoids it depends on their gamba hands, tenpai dragons (aka Mahjong dragons) already figured out and doing a tech against it.
2. Summon Sorc errata ain't that oppressive compare to its prime glory days (my beloved link amarylis ftk and u-lock board using her) examples of the potential "abusers": cyberse (specially in marincess), future fiend links (the yubel deck with unchained engine and fiendsmith), dragon link not so much (although the rokket build will be consistent of having savage and borrelend board).
3. OCG always do the "Warning Shot" hits for the overpowered card they created ex: halq to 2 before, S:P to 2 now; also to answer your question on "Who plays 3 S:P?".. its the stun decks that is not runick who does that (yes even floo)
4. Consistency hits is a common Konami OCG thing to do .... not to overkill a deck nor make them "bricky" too much although I remember a time when Pend. Magician core cards all are limited (Astrograph, chronograph, darkwurm, double iris, harmonizing magician, joker, electrumite) it can still top coz of a certain card...
5. THE ROACH WILL NOT BE BANNED UNLESS A MASS PETITION HAPPENED AGAIN (GAMMA LIMITED DUE TO CN PLAYERS' PETITION)
OCG already has Snake Eye Diabellstar and Diabellze, and they have Tenpai so HOPEFULLY the TCG hits are better.
How to handle erratas: Konami would have to provide a way to turn versions of the old card in for a new copy of the new version with the same or higher rarity.
I thought that after they have unified the date release pf the previous banlist they would release their corresponding next banlist on the samde date, and yet TCG still being TCG.

I think erratas are fine when they are used to either add psct, or add hopt's to cards, an excellent example being REDMD. But it seems like a lot of the time they just want to make entirely new cards, but keep the nostalgia factor of old ones which feels cheap.
This is what they do and their not planning on stopping , I just hope no one does anything to make Yubel ban worthy

Can't agree with your anti-errata stance. The people who won't know that a card has new text will be so few and far between make that first point irrelevant, plus it would only happen once.
Second, the legacy doesn't change if the card text does. We will still remember what a menace Sorc was even if there is an errata'd version.
Personally I think there are so many banned cards that deserve an errata so they can be played the way they were intended. Mainly I want a Union-locked Carrier for my ABCs
They should definitely just make new cards instead of doing erratas. There are already so many packfiller cards I don't see a reason for konami to just give us better cards that are retrains of broken stuff but still respect the legacy of the card.
I get errata for anime cards like firewall, but if it was only important to the card game, it's bad.

I personnaly HATE consitency hits, it just creates frustration for the deck's pilot and for the opponent.
A prime exemple is Floo and Branded in Master duel and in TCG. As a branded player, masterduel just feels soooo bad to play because they refuse to ban branded fusion and instead opt to limit every other card making the deck feel bad to play. "Oh wow I bricked on engine requirements to play my less consistent deck, or oh wow my opponent hard opened branded fusion when its limited".
While in TCG the deck is just good, (appart from the cringe lock sanctifier enable which is such a win more line), and is arguably one of the better designed deck in terms of end board interactions, no hard negates only removal.
Even though we hate on the TCG most of the times, I'm glad that we do not have a banlist like the OCG and we ,after some time, permanently remove problem cards.
And like you said, I despise Appolousa, not bcs I find it absurdly broken, it just invalidates every link 4 that can be created and make decks have no identity. They just feel like reskin of one another. Snake Eye does SHS did, and SHS did what Adamancipator did etc...

I do not like erratas.. it kills the power level of the card which we joyfully/dreadfully remember it for. Like leave it banned in the banlist for all generations of players to know of its impact to the game(war stories/crimes).

For me erratas are only for a card in an archetype
I don’t know why tcg players are so allergic to hitting things to 2. Having 2 ash decreases the amount of hands which open ash, making the deck more weak to droll. Hitting the ceiling of the deck makes what people enjoy about it impossible, but removing the deck’s ability to play around certain meta cards and decks by decreasing the chance they see their outs, it thereby decreases the power level of the deck.

I think Sorc can get abused in any deck that is mono type and can make a link three, Gouki, Dragon link, Dino, SPYRAL, Eldlich, Adamancipator, Thunder Dragon, a few of the decks like SPYRAL and Gouki are what got the card banned in the first place and they can still take advantage of the card.
"Abused" is kinda a stretch imo. Its 3 monsters and 1 in hand that's somewhat specific to get to it and then a summon lock afterwards. Its a big cost for that kind of effect, it might see play but its not going go be particularly broken. Even in a deck like d link it being a link 3 has its own costs as well.

I rather have a card forever banned than a errata, Chaos Emperor Dragon is one of the best examples. This card was one of the most powerful cards and should've been banned until stronger cards come out but changing it's effects feels like erasing some of the cards history. Also with erratas you tend to do the same mistakes again because you forgot how broken the original effect was and create a similar card that does the same.

i get the philosophy for MD, they want as many decks as possible to be playable to sell packs, but not be overbearing. Seems silly for the paper game

At the end of the day there is people who want tier 0 decks to die and people who want decks to stay but be hit and I am one of those people I don't think any deck should die unless it revolves around something like Magical Scientist that would or already is banned and needs to stay banned. Personally I think that with Havnis and Tearlaments Kashtira banned I think I would be fine with me if Merrli and Scheiren came back to 3 because they would have to rely on gimmicks like Needlbug Nest and Transaction Rollback to play on the opponents turn and its not like they are that bad. Think of the present state of the game decks have easily come to a level where without Havnis and Tearlaments Kashtira they could easily compete with them. But I think idea behind Summon Sorceress being unbanned is to raise the ceiling of other decks so that if they have to hit Snake-Eyes harder they won't have to kill Fire King or Snake-Eyes so soon after release to do it. A ban list shouldn't for the majority or the minority and should be for everyone. This means has to be what can satisfy the most amount of people while not forgetting about the money people has spent and hitting decks so hard that it pisses off the people who spent $800 or more on one single deck too early after release. Konami is a company first and foremost and when they make these tier 0 decks we who decide to keep playing Yugioh have to ride it out until those decks have their time like Kashtira and Tearlaments so that the game we love can keep on existing.
My main problem with erratas is they completely butcher the card. CED, Goyo, Crush Card, etc didn't need to be made that much worse, to be balanced.

The OCG and MD lists are terrible, I’m praying the TCG is the exception. The summon sorc errata is still amazing. Dragon and cybverse can still use the card really well, but it’s not a card anyone wanted back.
I think WANTED was a good hit, and banning it woukd be the best option, it reduces consistancy and the grind game, since shuffling back original is so good. The best hits in my opinion are, banning WANTED, limit bonfire and ash. This still gives u 7 starters, but it makes u have to commit to original, which means u can’t do the jet sybcron combo, making the board weaker.
Jesse what about a "Legacy" list instead of Errata
The legacy list simply lists cards that Couldn't come off the banlist this way Konami can print new cards with the errata effects like tradetoad and the current F&L list shows relevant hits and releases
All i'm hearing is more excuses as to why we need a rotation system. Rotation system will save YUGIOH you don't have a huge need for a ban list though some cards will get limited, and you just rotate sets off and you have Legacy Dueling which is unlimited.
This list is pretty bad but they have a very solid format right now from the OCG stand point. I believe that (after talking to OCG players) that hitting snake eyes heavily is a mistake as over there Tenpai Dragons and Snake Eye balance each other. I think the problem with Kirin at 3 was dodging Impermanence as an interruption as a community we believe that should be fine if not than arguments for Garunix would have been the better hit. However, there is no reason to do so. Personally, I think that hit is very fair and correct. Change Of Heart is a mistake hit. I do not believe this card should be at 3. If Konami at one point slows the game down this card will expose itself to be an issue at 3 with cards lile Thrust at three, so unless they at some point address Thrust or keep the game very fast, it will be fine. There Can Be Only One is hit because they are focussing on midrange decks that do not have in house engine removal at a effective level in most decks, so sure, but personally I would have printed things differently and force players to respect flood gates and trap decks and learn to geart 5-6 side deck flex spots towards proper removal, so I do not like this hit at all... snake eye ash to 2 is fine wanted to 1 is fine. This hits consistency and grind because the third snake eye ash could come up in hand trap trading wars and it is fair to say the deck does (like unchained) run through it's engine fairly quick. Summon Sorcerer's change is this situation in my opinion is correct. Summon Sorc is a halq on wheels and therefore would have never remained legal for long even if brought back and was to generic. I believe few decks right now will get value but the effect even with the change is actually good. It is still summoning from the deck and in a type similar deck will ALWAYS have value especially if the card it summons does something in the GY. Little Knight to 2 is a hint that if players continue to play multiples they will put it to 1. Rogue decks, trap decks, and deck like sky may benefit from multiple copies because it is a two for one and is fairly free to make. Also, this card is pennies in the OCG and much more affordable, so this hit does have merit. Off the top of my head, I currently do not remember any other cards touched by the list, but I believe I covered more important ones, so yeah. At last second, I remembered Colloseum. This makes sense because they want people to still play around it, side for it, and they clearly want this card in the game right now for whatever reasons the OCG may have so putting it to two will do that. P.S. I do believe in the Semi Limited list and in hitting consistentcies. This is important because it allows them to control the card market and keep decks effective without waiting too long to kill them or hit them out right to heavily. Which means later on two things happen. They either power creep it, change the format to where it's play style is not effective as much as it was before, or they continue to hit the deck until it is forced to be considered a bad deck.
