I stumbled upon these videos by chance earlier today. Eight hours ago I had no interest in, and knew nothing about, lock-picking. Now I have watched more than a dozen of bosnianbills videos and I am seriously considering taking this up as a new hobby! Great vids and great commentary on the action! Also, thank you for the inspiration!

Understood. Since that first post I have bought a set of picks and several locks. It's pretty exciting. Somehow, I never would've thought... :)

***** The first few locks were just Brinks padlocks. Had them each open in under 5 min. It's surprising how much you can learn from watching these vids. Now I keep picks and locks next to my pillow and try every night in the dark before sleep. I am not sure how it is still exciting every time a lock opens... but it is :)

That's priceless! I started the same way, watching Bosnianbill's videos, about 6 or 7 years ago and was instantly hooked. I now have my own channel and a good selection of locks and tools!

Lock may not have been a challenge but it brought some laughs. Great video as always and yes more locks are coming.

I think that sets the record for most pins picked per second. Raking past 4 or 5 pins PER SECOND points to mindblowingly bad tolerances.

You wouldn't believe it. But I still have one. My father installed it on my first apartment in 1996 Queens, NY. I still have two keys.

Bill, this vid should be pared up with the "dont let tricksters steal your confidence" vid you did a while back. BTW I am not implying you tricked us.
I say that because when you opened the package i did the same as you...ah crap...a cross lock....18 pins.
Even though it was an unknown and fairly complex lock it opened very quickly.
New pickers shouldent be deterred by both tricksters and first impressions of an unknown lock and it`s appearance.
    Thank-you and keep posting.

Bill, great job on an old lock. Too many miles and not enough baths takes their toll with lock too.
I would love to play with that one for awhile if you are looking for some where to send it. I have been learning from the locks you sent this summer and are passing them on for others to use.
Thanks for all the great videos.....

That was an Awesome Video Bill very Nice to see it Gutted. If you can I would love to see more Cruciform Lock Picking Videos. I have a Matlock 3855 and it is a Very Hard Lock to SPP But you can Use a Cruciform Lock Pick and it works ok the lock has 16 Pins in it that are all present. Keep up the great work. N.

From what it looks like, there just isn't enough space at the bottom for pinchambers/driver pins ^^ There I was, waiting for 7 minutes full of SPP action, but no, bosnianbill once again used some kind of alien technology to open that ding in about 2 secoonds. :D (Nice one though - thanks for gutting it! :) )

Dumb question: is raking, with something like a worm, an easier method of picking? I understand that there are variations of pin combinations but does it work well against things like security pins? I would imagine that it is much faster. What scenarios are more preferable to SPP'ing locks?

+bosnianbill Would it be possible to repin one of these? i imagine the pins would be very short just to fit in i guess..?

    • @Satchmoeddie
      @Satchmoeddie Před 8 lety

+KiwiLockPicker If this is the lock I am thinking of: Yes, these can be re-pinned. Once you remove those bars for the side pins, & pull those pins out, then you can move on to the top pins. You'll need to push the remaining pins in so you can rotate the core 180 degrees. After that, the top pins will come out of the holes in the bottom of the case. To re-pin, new pins, reverse order of disassembly, but where do you get a blank key for it?

Do you have a theory on why they skipped a slot for the top pins!? Like why did they fill 1,2,3,4, skip 5, and fill 6.!!? Why not just skip pin 6?
