    Perfect video 👍 exactly how I planned to pack my ruck... those outer dangler pockets look just right for a wet weather jacket and pack cover

      That's right 👍 Just past weekend I had rain gear in one of the side pockets, didn't have the other one attached.

    Nice set up for 3 seasons. Only stopping you from being out longer would be food and a couple extra changes of underwear and socks. The RUSH100 looks pretty nice. Looking forward to seeing your review when your done testing it out.

      Exactly. Of course there's other optional stuff such as hiking poles or water crossing shoes that I have with me at times, but that's pretty much it.

    My 3-night or 4-day hike and camping in Nuuksio, temperature 26 ℃ . My packings and weight:
    - backpack 60L 2.0 kg
    - tent 3-person 3.6 kg
    - mattress 0.8 kg
    - sleeping bag 0.9
    - water 3.0 kg (just day-1 and 2-morning)
    - food 2.5 kg
    - kettle, camping stove and gas 1.5 kg
    - clothes 1.0 kg
    - normal basic staff 2.0 kg ( you told all in this video, thank you)
    In total 17.3 kg. I think this was quite suitable. What do you think. Enough water? I had waterfilter and Micropur tablets. I used them. Otherwise the camping trip would be just carrying the drinking water every day. At least 3L/day maybe more. It was warm.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 2 lety

      I go with 3l water and carry a filtration system with me. I like to fill three liters in the morning and not worry about having to make stops to get more water throughout the day. So same as you in that sense. Your total weight is completely fine 👍

    I normally gravitate away from packs with a lot of zippers, so the question I want to ask is: Do the zippers carry any weight or do they just keep the small stuff inside with the compression straps doing the heavy lifting? Seems like a good pack in every other aspect.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 2 lety +3

      You're right to be cautios about zippers bearing weight. However based on my experience with Eberlestock Little Big Top, which has zippers in more vulnerable position, I'd say they're fine. Especially if you struggle to fit your gear inside the pack, lay it down on its back and push stuff in from the "front", then zip it up. Compression straps then deal with the load when carrying.

    Do the side pockets get in the way? Ive read they feel awkward and constantly flop against the shoulders because they arent secured with molle.

    Erittäin hyvä video. Olen katsonut muitakin sinun videoita. Aloitin retkeilyn tänä kesänä uudelleen tauon jälkeen, poikani kanssa. Nythän kivat kelit vasta alkaa. Näissä pakkaus videoissa aina närästää se, että tarvittava vaatetus, ruoka ja vesi on aina ihan alimitoitettu. Kyllähän pieneen rinkkaan nuo perustavarat menee. Ruoka ei mahdu, eikä vesi, eikä vara vaatteet.
    Se mitä oikeasti tarvitaan on vaatteet, vesi, ruoka, majoitus, tuli.
    Sinulla on hyvät videot, tykkään kyllä noin yleisesti!
    A very good video post of packing. Always these packing videos have too little food, water and clothes reserve. Maybe in summer two nights will do. I like to eat good food when I camp, and even change underwear and socks. What you really need is a little bit different combo. Clothing, water, food, shelter and fire!
    You have very good videos, i like a lot!

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. I have another video where I show what I packed for 6-7 days and 170km long backpacking trip. I had a different backpack but still around 60l of capacity. I have very carefully thought clothing choices, so I don't need much. Even during winter I can get it packed quite small, because I use compression bags with air valves. Same with food, if I go for multiple days I prefer something that packs small and has plenty of calories, I'm not interested in carrying "luxury" food items and cook in camp. Each to their own.

    Olen mieluummin teltassa kuin tarpissa. Kevyitä telttoja on. Hyvä makuualusta on erittäin tärkeä. Epäilen sun makuualustan mukavuutta. Näyttää ihan intin alustalta. Okei jos etsii sammaleisen pehmeän paikan ilman puunjuuria. Ruoan lämmitykseen kaasukeitin olisi paljon parempi vaihtoehto kuin sprii. On todettu tänä kesänä. Talvikaasuja on myös.
    Mikä mulle jäi retkeilystä päällimmäisenä mieleen tänä kesänä: Pysy kuivana, kanna vettä riittävästi ja ruokaa sekä välipalat, hyvä makuualusta ja teltta. Kylmähän tänä kesänä ei tullut. (Veden puhdistuslaite ja vedenklooraus tabletit olivat toki mukana, välillä käytettiin)
    Tykkään kyllä videoistasi. Informatiivisia.

    What do you think of the rush 100 in terms of comfort on long hikes with weight? Would you recommend it?
    I have a rush 72, not sure if you have had experience with it. I love it but it's not great for weight distribution unless I'm packing it incorrectly.
    Would appreciate your opinion, thanks for the video!

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly can't say, I don't have enough experience yet. I don't have Rush 72 but I do have Rush 24 which I've used plenty with a waistbelt. The problem with that and most likely with 72 too is that they're just big backpacks, so even with the waistbelt the shape of the pack doesn't work that well for high loads. They're not tall enough, so the waistbelt and shoulder harness aren't as optimally placed as in proper rucksacks such as Rush 100.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  Před rokem

      Haven't had issues with the carrying comfort so far. Just make sure you get the right size waist belt. Personally I'm between sizes so had to go with the smaller one.

    • @1971ChevelleSS
      @1971ChevelleSS Před rokem

      When it's fully loaded up is it still reasonable on comfort compared to an Osprey hiking backpack?
