It really shouldn't bother us if a band changes their sound over the years. People change and become wiser through the years with past experiences, and so does their music. I actually really enjoy when bands change their sound because although it might not reach the same audiences it did before, we get to see every side of the person(s) behind the music. Its always great to hear an artist sing about what they are feeling at the moment, staying true to themselves than just singing about stuff that isn't relevant in their lives anymore ❤
It's not about the change of the sound, it's about how bad the promotion was, how bad the changes around m&g were, how weak this album is lyrically (I think this song is an exeption, but it's actually the only one). I've always been up for a change of sound, that's what I liked about all time low and that's what I like about fall out boy, you can always tell which album you're playing. But LYR is lacking something for me, i don't think i was suprised with the sound they went for, maybe that's what's dissapointing, that they played it safe for some reason.

Velamy Thats exactly what Tegan and Sara did! They have 8 albums, and the 2 most recent are pop albums while albums 1-6 have more of an indie rock, guitar sound.

Tegan and sara are amazing in this, love this song.
See, this is one of those songs on the record that grow on me with each listen. Like, Drugs & Candy and Dark Side Of Your Room I was hooked on right away, and Nightmares too, especially the lyrics. But this one I wasn't sure about (just like Afterglow, which is nice but still debatable for me). However, I'm starting to like it more and more. So moral of the (boring) story is, give the songs you might not like so much a few more chances throughout the next few days. It's worth it.
This was the same for me when I first heard all the songs in this entire album. I thought LYG was nowhere near anything from Future Hearts (2015) or that of Nothing Personal (2009), and this song specially deviated from their sound that I know! I used to always scroll past Ground Control and Life of the Party. I mean, they were great (and still are) but... I don't know. Over time, I came to realize that it was just still on the process of, as what you said, "growing" on me. I just listened, and listened, and listened and to date I know them by heart. :)
