(this one & mine do)There were only 31,000 of this model made from 1971-80. Aint no telling how many came to the U.S. during that time period. I've heard 5000. I've never seen another 450SLC in person, have you? I noticed in this vid that the heat/a.c. unit in the car has that pesky motor problem. It's COMMON with 450SL's & similar models.

I have seen some cars in which the owners have removed the louvres and just left the two panes of clear glass. If there was indeed an option code for a "louvre delete", I would certainly be interested in learning what option code that was. None of my cars had that option including the one I own that was converted to a convertible. There were actually ~62,888 c107 SLC cars made. ~31,739 were 450slc. Apparently the total number of 450slc and 380slc that were built to US Specifications (for the North American market, US and Canada primarily) is 16,935. Of all the c107 made, the 5.0 alloy block 450slc 5.0 and 500slc, the 107.026 models remain the most desirable with 2769 made (more than the number of 380slc made) as they were homolgated for rally car racing making just over the required 500 per year from 1978-1981.
I'll agree to agree with mknmike. We current own 6 of them between us and five are at my shop. Early and late versions, euro and U.S. VERSIONS. 280,380 and 450slc. All left German with louvers. If you have proof otherwise I would love to see it. I'm not one to talk shit about things I'm not very confident I'm correct about, but I will take it back if I'm wrong.

Is that the total for both the 450SLC & 380SLC? I wonder where all the 450 SLC's that came to North America are. My guess is California.

There are a lot of Standard (aka Euro) models in the US that were not built for the US market due to the strength of the US Dollar vs Deutchemarks in the 1980's. It was often cheaper to buy a car in Europe and have it shipped to the states and then spend thousands generalizing the vehicle. So there's a good chance that there are still more than 16,000 SLCs owned or even on the road in the US today. People are parting them and scrapping them every day though. They are unloved in the US, in my opinion due to the fact that all 74-81 models got the hideous big bumpers that kill the styling of the vehicle.
