The concept of a walking safari through a national park is one I got introduced to in Mole National Park Ghana. And since then I have gone on walking / hiking safaris in Tanzania and Kenya. Hell's Gate National Park presents a great opportunity for this. Have you been ?
I could never go into the gorge in the rainy season. there were terrible scenes of a church youth group a few years ago who got caught in a flash flood . it was scary as hell. then it happened again in 2019. but in the dry season its amazing.
SELF TOURED on bikes there a few years back with my Kenyan girlfriend , we were told there were NO dangerous animals really there , after we lingered too long in the gorge we not only had to face down Cape Buffalo ( very dangerous ) blocking our path very menacing but were also chased by a pack of hyena as we biked back in the dark well after closing time , the ranger at gate was shocked to see Us so late at night and told us hyena there were unheard of there ! I sent girlfriend well ahead as I stared down the hyena as she made her escape ! Fun Times ! :) many people died in a terrible flash flood that year , don't linger in the gorge as we did !

Yes i saw that. Its a sad story. Flash floods are really dangerous
