Valhalla Knives Tyrannosaurus Rex: It's not (not) an Espada

  • Yes, it definitely takes a LOT of it's design cues from the Cold Steel Espada Premium. It certainly doesn't have the same extreme Triad Lock durability, but there are a few things about it that I actually like a bit better (gasp!), and then there's the price. But, on it's own merits, is it a good knife for around $40USD?

I love the espada. looks like a cool tribute.

A smaller knife is a compromise that trades speed and convenience for reach and deterrence. I can see why someone would carry a separate martial blade just in case. :) The T-Rex is nice for the price.

You edc an Espada? You sir, are a badass! Subbed! I will pick this one up as a daily carry reliable folder. As a self defense knife, I would say: There are better knives out there more suited to that task. Ex. Sallywag Tactical: MDV Plus One, Fisher Knives: Beckwith Covert, Tops: El Pionero, Colonel Blades: LowVz, and even Colonel Folder. TKell is another great brand of Tactical knives. I have a few. All knives I carry (except the Beckwith Covert) that one is on the list. Am I a badass? No. But, you aren't gonna take me without a fight!

Great review! I’m a content creator as well. I just bought this knife and will be doing testing on it myself. Great work, brother!

I didn't know this knife existed. Thanks for the video. I'll be ordering one soon. 👍

It's a nice "little" knife. Very appealing, even though it's not an Espada.

Thank you! I didn't know, just by it's look if the knife was worth getting or not, it is (thnx to you!). I liked it's look the moment I saw it BUT, I couldn't shake that gas station stigma! You obliterated that stigma with this video... Chunky, sturdy blade. Wasn't expecting that either. It's a good "tribute" to the medium Espada! I hope Valhala sells a ton of them making Cold Steel re-think their decision to discontinue the medium Espada!!! Money talks lol...

Oddly, I already had this one, we have very similar taste in knives 😂
I also have all 3 sizes of the espada. Which I won't use, because I like them to much. 😂
Picked this up as a usable "tribute", and I was very pleased. A bit heavy, but I do EDC it a good bit. Plus, I'm not afraid of marking it up. It has held up well to light use.
    Another Great Review!!
    Thanks

You should try the G-10 Espada Large. You can get them for around $100 or so, now. I highly recommend that one, over the Fancy Collectible Model, if you want one to actually carry and to use it for Self-Defense.
Myself, I like to carry the Large G-10 Espada and I just Collect the Fancy one I have, along with it's Bigger, Fancy, Brother, the XL. They're, both, Safe Queens... Check out the G-10 Model and see if you'd like that one better for Self-Defense... Right on. I always enjoy listening to your point of view. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I’ll check it out I don’t carry my espada much but really like it. This might be a good back up to it.

That was basically my thought: Smaller, (much) cheaper substitute

Good review Mike , I would have had no
idea that the knife was as good as it is if I had not seen this video,
and I have seen it on Amazon for some time and gave just a fraction of time in thinking about it.
But now I see it in a whole different light after your testing and receiving, now I like it.
    Thanks Mike ,👍

I do like this design, and the price was worth taking a risk on it.

The Espada Medium has a 3.5" Blade; it's not 4 inches... I have the Espada Medium Folders... But, yes, that 9ne does look a lot like the Espada (looks)... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I'd love one of these but typically amazon does not ship bladed items to the UK or sell them on their UK site, just like eBay over here, can you please leave a link to the actual company? I've googled them and got nowhere so far, just other companies that make kitchen knives which they call the Valhalla line of products etc.. thanks! Great review as always!

I sent a message to Valhalla Knives. They distribute at least in the US through "Sky Trendy" but I can't find them anywhere but Amazon either. I'll let you know as soon as they get back to me.

@@shovelchop81bikeralex52 Sadly, they say that right now they're only shipping within the US. Hopefully that changes.

Damn that's unfortunate and odd! I always assume these lower priced companies are Chinese or Indian and would sell to as large a market as possible, even most American knife companies are generally available worldwide in 'friendly' countries at least. Thanks for the info though and getting back to me so fast! I wonder if there's another 'clone' out there?...lol
