If you're going to be doing this sort of thing, you definitely need head protection. I can speak from experience that even with a helmet, it'll still hurt, but it hurts a hell of a lot less than landing on your bare head!

The poles could chop off body parts. In Germany we have foam protection on poles in dangerous curves or a barrier that goes to the ground.
Motorcyclists are split into two groups about this.

9:45 god damn, that must've hurt a lot. It gives me flashbacks of when I landed on my back in a shallow foam pit. I randomly landed on a piece of flat metal or a pipe of some sort under the foam blocks. Idk if I would say it hurt like majorly, but I literally could barely breathe.
That one made me cringe, but I still laughed. Such a solid hit. He definitely felt that one for a long time.
I got that one time from a really far drop right onto split poles and my spin looked like an S and I was bleeding so much and I didn’t even scream…
