The parable of the ten minas has me hating the responsibility for stewarding money. If I don’t steward, then I’m a wicked and lazy servant. But I also love the ideas that come to mind for what I can do with money if I choose to try and honour God and people. Love God and use money rather than use God and love money. Fullness of godly contentment for all those poor and in need within the kingdom so that none may boast nor anyone covet. That is the will of My Father as well as my own. Outside of godly contentment is greed and lust. I was missing this key portion of the gospel when putting together in my mind the true meaning of Christmas this season. Thank you Pastor John Piper for your timely message. It’s time I return to the LORD of my youth as the Teacher did in the end of Ecclesiastes. My youthful convictions towards the poor and the needy as the psalmist describes in psalm 41.

So what do I do now that I have no money, lost my job, and need money to survive? Is this where we should live our lives? Money is an unfortunate reality of life. And the worse things get through the devaluation of currencies and wage stagnation, the more people will find themselves in a similar situation. I have prayed so much for guidance and am waiting for an answer. It is getting desperate. I am getting desperate.
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:31-33 NLT You can certainly ask and trust that He will provide enough money to meet your needs.

If i were rich i would gladly share to the needy, but i dont have money to give to the needy, nor do i have enough for myself.! Money seem to be the reason for 99% of my problems and now Its confusing to pray.!! I need money but it feels like selfish praying for financial blessings.!! Aahh..!!
I fell for advice preached in some churches, directed by a single verse, and, I suspect, endorsed by the flesh, of being "wise" about the future. But I keep going back to the old lady who literally put everything she owed into the offering box. A few things that stand out about that verse: Jesus did not tell his disciples that she'd be eating steak that night, nor that she'd be driving a Ferrari the next day. The other thing is, it's questionable what happened to her money. Given that many of the leaders of her day were lovers of money, it's not clear whether her money would be stewarded well. However, in her heart, she was giving to God. Jesus did not stop her from putting money in the box, and tell her, "whoa, lady, do you know what's going to happen to your cash? These snakes are gonna use it to buy new sneakers so they can brag about it on the street corner!"
So why did God make Abraham rich and Solomon and David rich ? It is the love of money, God is the God of abundance and gave riches to his people so move isn’t bad, it’s the love of money. You can use money to love people
When reading the Bible, we need to pay closer attention to the lessons behind accounts of people’s lives. Saying this because after reading the accounts of Solomon’s life 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles, we’re not meant to come out thinking how amazing money is. Rather you should realise that the moral of the story was that Solomon- whom God granted such wisdom that there was no one else like him (before Jesus) - became pretty much a fool when his wealth led him to disobey God’s commandments, away from the path of righteousness into a life of debauchery and eventually away from God to the point that God tore the kingdom away from him (1 Kings 11:1-11). To understand this, go back to Deuteronomy 17:16-17 (start from v14), where God stated his commandments for kings (commandments which Solomon would have known) ““The king must not build up a large stable of horses for himself or send his people to Egypt to buy horses, for the Lord has told you, ‘You must never return to Egypt’ The king must not take many wives for himself, because they will turn his heart away from the Lord. And HE MUST NOT ACCUMULATE LARGE AMOUNTS OF WEALTH IN SILVER AND GOLD FOR HIMSELF.” This is the same thing Jesus warned about in Matthew 6:24, 33, Luke 12:15-21, 32-34 and Paul in 1 Tim 6:6-10 - most of us are familiar with the “love of money” statement in verse 10, but in the verse just before it (v9), Paul warns believers not to even “desire” to be rich! Back to Solomon, God blessed Him with wealth because his heart was not set on it at the time but on the love of his people and justice (1 Kings 3:9). But the truth is it was only by obeying God's commandments and keeping his eyes on God could Solomon remain TRULY wise and wealthy in the eyes of the Lord. Solomon is proof that all the wisdom in the world will not make you immune to the effects and consequences of the desire for, and love of money (which is why Paul warned against it in 1 Tim 6:9). So in spite of his gift of wisdom, Solomon violated everyone of God’s commandments in Deuteronomy vv16 and 17 (See 2 Chronicles 1:17, 9:28; 1 Kings 11:1-3) as he accumulated more and more riches. In the end his amassing of wealth was the vehicle he used to feed his descent into sin and eventually made the wisest man on earth a fool towards his end to the point that God tore the kingdom away from him (1 Kings 11:1-11)! On a lighter note, I can only hope that in the end Solomon had a smidge of the wisdom God gave him at the start to repent before he died so that when we get it heaven I can ask him how he managed 700 wives and 300 concubines!
Do you know what's even crazier?...studies and statistics show people with less money give more than those who are rich. It is a scientific fact that the more money you have the more attached to it you become.
