  • A year ago supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol. Many of them were followers of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which saw Trump as a hero who would defeat a Satan-worshipping global cabal.
A survey by the polling organisation Ipsos Mori has found that 7% of Americans still believe this conspiracy theory - despite a lack of any evidence and the fact that QAnon's many predictions never came true.
    So who are these people?

My mother has unfortunately fell into this and it ultimately led to the divorce of my parents. It’s incredibly sad but let me shed some light. My mother is brilliant. Graduated #1 in her class in both undergrad and med-school. Her knowledge of math, chemistry, medicine, and science is actually incredible. People who fall for this are not all stupid people. I believe she was depressed, alone, and in denial of the death of multiple family members who lost their life to COVID. They pry on these type of people to give them an alternative reason to why things are the way they are or why things happened. Not wanting to believe the reality of the situation ultimately led to a spiral of absolute absurd conspiracy’s. For anyone wondering this group is still strong and growing and the conspires they spout are getting more extreme. They are totally fueled by fear and I genuinely believe the people (like my mother) who are deep into this now genuinely believe the world is going to essentially end once a month or once a week, its always something new. It must be an awful way to live. Anyone can fall victim to this group and it really is sad. My heart goes out to all who have to deal with friends and families like this.

I’m sorry to hear about your family’s losses. I know very little about the Qanon thing except for those things being highlighted in the news. To give your seemingly intelligent mother somewhat if a pass here, most conspiracies have their core in some elements of truth that make some sense and then those truths are extrapolated upon so that the truth is even muddled. By that time those who “ believe “ are trapped by the truer elements. I find it wild and sad that your parents let it break their oneness. That is cultic stuff right their. I imagine the trip to the grocery store is total chaos for some when everything means something and patterns are there to give us clues into nefarious underworld cabal activity.
The biggest problem is the arrogance. They are so convinced that they are right that they feel sorry for those who flat refuse to buy into their nonsense. The more you try and explain to them that what they are buying into isn't real the stronger they become, because they use the experience as a form of persecution. i.e I am being persecuted because I am red-pilled and the "sheep" are trying to pull me back into the world of lies. I find it mesmerizing that they openly refer to people who do not buy their nonsense as 'Sheeple.' You are not going to get a more sheep-like community than Qanon. They all speak the same language, use the same slang, share swaths of the same beliefs and follow the guidance of an anonymous poster who is vague at best and incorrectly predicted numerous things. They're totally lost but not beyond reaching.

My grandma is a full fledged supporter of Qanon. It’s cause so much turmoil in my household. From morning to night it’s her reading up on “secret fbi files that the public doesn’t know of”. Trumps family being told to reign over America and save the world from the words of the Bible. Everything is something to her. Everything is a conspiracy. She is such a smart and educated woman. It hurts my heart, it hurts my sanity. I really don’t even know what to do anymore. Then we had to highlight every time propaganda was used, and how it could effect someone who was not fully educated about the topic. Basically by the end of the course we all knew which media sources were safe and which ones weren’t, and how to detect propaganda. My class was split 50/50 dems and Republicans. we had many class discussions which showed me that both sides were actually quite level headed and willing to work together, however media was tearing us apart.

I myself don’t believe in Q. There’s been too many promises by this group about Trump getting back in office, about certain things and certain people in the government and none of it has come true.
So if you were going to go by the timeline they all were pushing, all of it is a fraud!
So what we do know. We know that our government is controlled by the federal reserve and the central banking system. We know that the WHO and the UN are also controlled by this group. So is it so hard to believe that they have a PSYOP in pushing Qanon in order to make sure that society won’t act to change things, but we’ll just sit back and wait for somebody else to do the dirty work!
The real question everybody needs to ask themselves is who are the real players pushing this agenda and why! It’s the same players like the Rothschilds and the Rockefellers, the Wahlberg’s and other names we probably never ever heard of.
The Rockefellers sold most of their gas and oil reserves a few years before they started pushing this green agenda. Then they brought in the crypto currencies, because they knew the dollar would eventually collapse like every single other currency in history has!
We all know that Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in order to keep those who participated in certain evil practices to keep their names out of the press. Which is pretty easy to do considering the press is good controlled by the state, and those who had any doubts about this soon found out after the last election was over. So yes there is a deep state who has the number of neocon players in every aspect of our government and then lots of other governments also. It goes way back even before Kennedy was assassinated.
I suggest everybody read the coming collapse of the petrodollar system by Jerry Robinson. This is free on the Internet. You have to really understand economics and history to know what’s happening.
There is a conspiracy against the people by these oligarchs, but it makes sense that they would put the CIA up to creating QAnon in order to make people look crazy. You know you hear it all the time your a conspiracy theorist if you believe in not just the Q, but any of what I’ve mentioned.

Notice how the media is now totally controlled in the US. The food supply is being decimated in order to control the citizens. The borders are wide-open, because they want the United States to not be a sovereign country anymore. The societies morals are under attack from every direction. Trying to tell people they don’t know who they are anymore, man or woman or?
They’re trying to get all the guns from the people, and they’re willing to do anything to do it. All you have to look at is Australia and Canada to see what’s happening!
If you’re from another part of the world, the citizens of the United States are not your enemy, it’s the oligarchs who control the central banks in the federal reserve who are! @Mike Kane
Indeed, conspiracy theorists don't need any help to reinforce what others describe as their delusional behaviour.
However, consider a constant stream of support, as in disinformation, from some entity under any name, feeding the anxiety of conspiracy theorists.
For all anyone knows these entities, say QAnon, are the "weapons" deployed by outside agencies, eg Russia, to destabilise another country, eg US.
Russia is just as adept at "psyops" as any other nation, perhaps even more so. Underestimating Putin would be a grave mistake. Ditto Jinping. Ditto Kim Jong-un.
Nobody really knows who or what QAnon really is. Theories within theories suggest QAnon is not "a" person as such and could be several persons, but not necessarily acting in concert per se.
To have different factions within a country at each others' throats can only benefit putative enemies.
We now see factions within factions in disagreement over such issues as the Trump we see "today" not being Trumpian enough.
Some of his once followers considered his admission to having a booster vaccination as something of a betrayal.
It may be if Trump is found guilty of fraudulent financial activities more of his erstwhile followers might consider they are, or were, supporting an alleged crook.
Simply being a conspiracy theorist does not imply they are dishonest, misguided in our eyes perhaps, but sincere in their beliefs.
In other words they are inately honest and may be very disappointed should their old leader be convicted of dishonesty.
We have decidedly similar feelings towards Boris, who appears to be pathologically unable to answer any question with entire honesty.
It is almost as if he is "acting" the role of PM and is perfectly content to rewrite his "lines" as he sees fit ... or forgets his lines altogether.
The entire planet is now aware that Boris feels as if he can busk his way out of embarrassing situations by ad-libbing, not forgetting references to "Peppa Pig".
Most of us feel he is supposed to be running a country ... not doing "stand up".
How soon will we see him feature on "Live at the Apollo" or "Mock the Week" ... specialising in "self parody"?
