Dana is avoiding it because Belal is bad for business. Nobody is going out of their way to watch Belal. Dana knows this. They have the data to show that people just aren't interested in Belal. If Belal hugs his way into winning a title, that immediately cuts into the UFC profit. They can't put a Belal fight on a PPV unless he has other fights around him to make things more excitable for casual fans.

Yup! It’s booked similarly to pro wrestling. Dana cracks on it so much, yet has learned a lot from watching Vince & WWE (as well as Bischoff & WCW back in the day) market his talents, & how he used that to build his company. UFC has been a farce since LITERALLY the very first tournament, with the Gracies & what they did to ensure Royce won it all.
Let me be clear that I’m NOT saying they FIX the fights (not all of ‘em, anyway), with predetermined winners. If they did, Rousey never would’ve lost.
I’m just saying in the marketing, who fights who & when, who gets title shots, etc. I am essentially agreeing with you, & just adding to it. It’s all “Hype Marketing”, for the latest paydays in PPV buys & such. I “get it”. But, it can’t be taken seriously, as a legitimate sporting competition between athletes, when this is going on. It plagued boxing, for YEARS…DECADES even. They had to lose out to MMA & pro wrestling consistently, for them to finally change it a bit. They market the champs, & actual winners on their way up now. Just took awhile. But, Dana comes from that side of things, & jumped into MMA before the culture in boxing had changed a bit…and here we are.
Just wish it was more legit, in the match-making; & then have “SuperFights”, that are non-title, for the hyped-up marketing matchups.
Its about both mate. At the end of the day its a business so the fighters that make money get preferential treatment. It aint ideal but it is what it is.
Hold your horses. MMA grew because top 1 or 2 face the champion. Belal deserves but he is not popular as he should be. In the end of the day UFC need to move tickets to keep the lights on. I dislike Dana White as much as any guy who follows MMA, not only the UFC.

Still think Mighty Mouse got treated worse than Belal. Mighty Mouse was the champ of division, and Dana deliberately tried to get rid of the division in order to get rid of DJ. Imagine if he did right by him and we got to see DJ vs Moreno or figgy….

Personally I really like Bo. I live wrestling and train in it. He knows wrestling to an insane degree and that’s how he fights, with what he knows. People are mad because he “fights boring”. The ground work is a big part in the UFC and he that’s what he knows.

I don't understand why Islam Makhachev has the reputation he does either. I think he's a very good fighter but people act like he's cleared out the lightweight division. I love Volk but it will be nice to see Islam defend his belt against an actual 155er at UFC 302.

Erased Tim Sylvia and Randy Couture out of the history books. Destroyed Ken Shamrock's reputation with the editing done on TUF. Erased Frank Shamrock. Tried his best to have Tito Ortiz repeatedly murdered his last several fights on his contract. Made it out like Rampage was retiring when he was leaving for Bellator. Has protected and praised Jon Jones and his career of eye pokes he never gets DQ'd from, numerous positive PED tests, shooting at cops, hit and run on a pregnant lady, domestic violence and on and on but because he NARC'd for USADA after popping hot he is the GOAT? Jones clearly lost 2 fights he won by UD. Then we had GSP greasing up like a gay man at a pride parade every fight and fighting a Michael Bisping he knew had 1 working eye. Somehow GSP won the 1st fights he had against Hendricks and BJ Penn despite being beaten post to post. Then you have 95% of Frankie Edgar's career which pretty much consisted of greasing up to avoid grappling then coming in and dancing around like Michael J Fox for 5 rounds. Then he barely outlands some guy literally chasing him around the Octagon for half an hour. I remember one of the reasons they claim he beat BJ Penn in their 1st match was that BJ was more tired than him at the end of the fight. He ran after the guy for 25 minutes. That same Dana singing Edgar's praises goes off on Anderson Silva for his performance against Maia. At least 15 out of the 25 minutes of that fight were entertaining. Brock wasn't popping hot the whole time he was fighting just after they were done with him? I'm a fan & loved UFC 300. It's the best MMA org in the world except Maybe ONE. But don't ever be fooled the PED testing done by USADA or otherwise isn't rigged to some degree to suit the UFC's needs at the time. Don't ever think the judging is just that bad by accident. Don't ever think the road to the title is anything remotely similar for favorites vs non favorites. Don't think the refs aren't influenced by the UFC. The sport is definitely not safer than boxing or American football or Rugby. It is just as dirty as boxing. I love boxing too but the fight game is the fight game.

Maybe in one championship. Sometimes that's true in UFC, but not always.
It's all about the entertainment. That's why Mc Gregor got pid so much. He was a showman and a good fighter. The dude mentioned (haven't seen him) is probably just a super efficient fighter who destroys people quickly, so it's not financially as incentivised as a showboater who might not fight the best but will put up a good show for people. Imagine you get a pay per view ticket, pay however many dollars you do to watch a fight and it's done in under a minute. You'd be pissed. It's all about the money for him. As long as something makes him exorbitant amounts of money, he'll push them.

Even if he gets a shot, Belal needs to change something. Even in that first fight with Edwards, Edwards was dominating. Maybe be a bit more aggresive or close the distance to neutralise Leon's attacks. And Leon is not exactly a fighter to watch either. He is almost as boring as Belal is, but that is the fight game. You don't need to fight pretty to be a great fighter.
