They are the ones who created this style back in late 1980s. Bands like Riggor Mortis, Soilent Green, Acid Bath, Crow bar, eyehategod, early Down evolved it. If you're curious of riggor mortis, it's the first band Mike Scaccia and Al Jorgensen formed before Ministry.
Sleepy3810 Do you mean Leach? Never heard of them but pretty sure they heard of mike scaccia which along with Melvins created distinct heavy guitar sound especially the heavy picking which Mike is known for. Like the saying goes respect your elders they did it first.
It'd be fair to say Flipper and the sludgier Black Flag songs influenced the Melvins, too. The "My War" record was huge in Seattle-area punk for sure at that time.
Melvins are such a great mix of grim metal and being total clowns. Way heavier than a lot of "heavy" bands but they don't take themselves nearly as seriously.
Night Goat - Melvins (European Tour 2009) Perfect Quality 0901am 19.10.23 these guys are probably a band's band and focussed enough to not bother with the b.s of whatever grunge was.... as for the sub pop era... nice. and fun. fun and nice. the two missing dwarves.
if I'm ever in a coma, play the melvins to wake me up. hell, play it if I'm dead, this could rip you off the astral plane..fark! just thought imagine being conceived to this music!!!!
Dude , this " Bad Melvins" period is the best Melvins´s era . Fan since the days I used to play catch with Melvin´s granpa and live @Hellfest 2011 is " still" one of the greatest performances of all time (by any band out there - any style ) .
Night Goat - Melvins (European Tour 2009) Perfect Quality 0904am 19.10.23 telepathically he says: i'm not a psychic investigator... and that, my friends, won't stand up in court...
Like some ancient aquatic horror slowly creeping through the muck and murk, rummaging for an easy meal. Nothing escapes it's bacteria-covered dagger teeth. A giant maw from out of the darkness, over in a heartbeat. Such is the way of things.
The great disadvantage of allowing people to thumb up/down things. See what I did with your comment? Don't mean shit in the greater shape of things. Like me seeing the Melvins twice in a month's time.
This is what the movement of tectonic plates sounds like.
This is what a giant wad of dough rising sounds like.
ever listen to sunn 0)))
haha nice analogy, very fitting
heh
Anak Krakatoa shit...…….
One thing great about the Melvins is they didn't give a damn if anyone was impatient with their slow tempos.
I'm impatient with the fast temos

Sleepy3810 Why the fuck do you spell texas like that?

Is it me or contrary to most band these guys are actually getting better with age...
Like a fine wine or spunken
no they are, just like The Fall did
@meowington meowsworth Kinda?
Dinosaur jr did that too so weird how that works when I’m in a band I hope I have that ability
You can tell they still have a love for what they do which can certainly extend a bands lifespan.
The bass in this song is so awesome
If nothing else, aspiring little baby bass guitar players need to study melvins and Jared really sets it off better than most.
Best thing about the song 👍
you mean THE BASS
@@elusive_mg fuck yeah
Melvins and Ministry have some of the heaviest basslines.

Nailed it
wouldn't have them any other way
Word
That's why A History Of Bad Men is truly Heath Ledgers Joker theme song.
This is the soundtrack to a glacier melting. This is a compliment.
Well put.
These guys quietly paved the way for all that is the sound of Grunge. Seattle was magical during these times…I miss it.
Oh how we all miss the "blonde one" .
Nirvana and Pearl Jam just went right past them to the top.

The brilliance with which these guys make so much out of so little is like Bobby Flay winning Iron Chef with a coke spoon and a quail egg.
This is a really good comment.
Dale is a great drummer, you can instantly tell it's him on the sticks, that is not only hard but almost impossible.
I like how hard the bass player’s goin to that hard ass riff for like 3 mins
Just like beating one out for that moment of spunken. Which girls generally like
I mean it’s hands down probably top ten bass riffs of all time
look at him in all of his greatness...
Buzzo is King 👑
Buzzo in a god damn satanic snuggie. Beautiful.
His wife makes them for him. 🖤
I've never seen two drum sets playing on stage at the same time that is awesome
allman brothers had 2 drummers. Also King crimson toured with 2 drummers
Frank Zappa, Osees, Genesis...
They regularly use two bassists as well
The smashing pumpkins during adore tour
Butthole Surfers
One of their best songs. Saw them live at the House of Blues with Down.
I love the 2 drummers playing together, it adds so much more power
Incredible. One of only a handful of bands I like that sound even better live
this was by far the best Melvins lineup IMHO
....today is a beautiful day, because its Saturday and I listened to The Melvins :)
I like how Buzz's number one fan is right behind him the whole time
Getting my Melvins fix again in June. They're playing the Netherlands/Belgium like clockwork at least yearly these last 4-5 years. :)
if I'm ever in a coma, play the melvins to wake me up. hell, play it if I'm dead, this could rip you off the astral plane..fark! just thought imagine being conceived to this music!!!!
How the hell have I never heard this unbelievable song before ? What else am I missing ??
An over abundance of care?.
43 more albums
29 years later after my 1st listen (to M in general) and I STILL get goosebumps
This song sounds so much better with Jared Warren's bass tone and two drummers.
totally agree
Indeed
Better than the version on Houdini, no doubt. But the original version from the 7 inch on AmRep with Joe Preston on bass is still tops IMO.
@@danmalone7649 Joe Preston is absolutely the best. And he keeps it up whatever artist he's playing with.
@@o0julek0o Agree 100%
Impossible to find one decent drummer for a band. Buzz gets 2! 😂
These guys are awesome. Love that hair with the timing of the music. Such a great vibe !

Hail The GOAT!
Amo questa band !!!

Comes on like long slow high...
Ages like fine wine...
This is the soundwaves going on in ancient Mongols’ brains before they went and massacred a city.
Yeah, they just get better and better!
Perfección!!!!
The God Fathers of Grunge
Perfect music to pillage villages to. Makes all the hairs on me arms stand up.
So nice seeing crowds before everyone was holding up phones.
The best Jerry! The best!
The one dislike. Wtf is your problem. This is incredible.
Symphony!
unreal
I play this during home invasions, provides a nice air of...creep.
yup, seen these guys a few times... this is the Melvins alright.. thanks.
God, this Bass!!!!
Holy fuck this is fucking rad they slammin it
smashing bass distortion!!!
hell yes
Maybe I should give up the machete business and get a bass....
Murder me daddy
Nah bro keep stacking bodies
LOL 😂
I bet you'd SHRED.
Don't let your mom know though
God Damn!
Jesus that was mad! 👌
That bass tone is fucking amazing
Supreme
Damn!!!
3 dislikes (Why?) in almost 51000 views. THIS IS PURE AWESOMENESS.

Yeah yeah!! Melvins are cool..
No phones in sight!!!
This is fucking amazing !!!!
Hey, this sounds exactly like some shit I heard that came 10 years after the Melvins did it!
It's funny you mention "senile animal". Talking Horse is the song that got me back into the melvins. Appreciate the info. Thanks
Kings among men. And they rocked and it was good
banging my head so hard i give myself a concussion
Melvins forever
The greatest things always have two drummers
god what i wouldn't give to be there
banging my head so hard i give myself a concussion
This song helps me poop when constipated! THIS IS THE SHIT!!!
i have watched this video many many times but today i decided to watch it at 1.75 x speed, i would advise everybody to try it at least once.
