Especially as all clubs have to have a minimum contingent of home grown players meaning half decent players go for good player money and good players go for top class to World class player prices.

      Mainoo did kind of overplay Rodri in that FA Cup final so that is a good sign. Conversely, Rodri could be looking to exact revenge. However, the rest of the game will be in Spains favor. Netherlands sat back and invited England pressure in the 1st half. Spain has not sat back the whole tourney, now they have well rested players they’re going to sit back?? I’m not sure if this is a media thing to get viewers in the final. England from a talent stand point are world class. So is France, but they had an underwhelming tournament into the match with Spain. The same with England except England has looked worse. If Spain doesn’t choke, they win. It’s as simple as that. Too much speed, especially in the middle and too much possession. England can win if luck stays with them which can absolutely happen. Comical to me though that you have these analysts acting like England hit a switch when the second half was horrid from both teams until the 90th minute.

    Spain and Spanish media/fans are worried about England 100%. Especially Real Madrid fans with Bellingham. Spain know they will control the ball, but have seen how England have "moment" players that can do something even when England are playing poorly. It will come down to if England can keep Spain out.

    • @oldskoolmusicnostalgia
      @oldskoolmusicnostalgia Před 19 dny +1

      Spain haven't controlled the ball much in this tournament, they are having their lowest share of possession since the 2008 Euros... which they won handsomely. Got to agree with Julien, I said in April to my son that Mainoo has to be first on the sheet - he has that one thing we so need, time on the ball no matter how much pressure is on him. It spreads to the other players. We've looked so much better since he arrived...remember when Southgate was saying they hadn't replaced Philips 🤦‍♂ Anyway, he's in there now and hopefully will be for the next decade

    • @darthwiizius
      @darthwiizius Před 19 dny

      I'm quite pleased we never replaced Philips, I prefer good players and not players that go into tackles like they think they're playing for Leeds in the 70s. The Mancs must build their midfield around Mainoo, he's their one true star player at this time and with all the time in the World in front of him, they'll not find that type of player playing that role at that standard at the age in the transfer market, not for any transfer fee. In the next World cup the centre of midfield will be settled, it'll be Declan and Kobbie, and I'd put those two used to playing together against any midfield partnership on Earth. It has the look of becoming the best midfield partnership England have ever produced. Rice a bit more defensive, Mainoo a bit more progressive, it's seems a perfect balance. Now, fingers crossed Jude has a couple of stinker seasons at Real so we can rob them blind again and stick him in front of Rice.

    lol All I need to say is this: Trippier/Shaw vs Lamal. This is a GLARING problem for England. England can put every single CM they have on their team and would still not get the ball off of Rodri and Ruiz. I was worried about Kyle Walker, but Nico will pin him back. Saka is my only concern on this entire team with his pace and movement against Cucurella but we have Grimaldo on the bench already and MAYBE depending on which one shows up, Foden. England has almost gone out to teams who only made it as far as they did because they were on the easiest side of the draw and Spain has had to go through essentially all the best teams and the strongest team in the competition. i too like all didn't give Spain a chance to go through Germany at home and France with all its giants. The assertion that England "somehow" mange to beat every team despite their sub-standard coach by the brilliance of the players is a bit suspicious. Perhaps to please the larger audience. The obstacles they barely overcame were not much of an obstacle and they got by often with the ref. giving them a hand. Football is a team sport. We've not seen much of that from England-quite opposite of Spain. Football is like life-often unfair. And England may very well win it. As has been shown throughout the epl season, these players have so many limitations, and aren't accustomed to creating solutions in negotiating their way past opposition...
    The mainoo situation is down to clubs not going down the route of getting the most successful players in their geographical area.
