To visit Colonial Williamsburg for the first time you should have spent a couple days and purchased a pass to tour the buildings. Start at the Visitors Center. Itâs a wonderful place that you needed more time to do justice. Iâve been there many times as I lived close for quite a few years. Youâll have to go back again as you only scratched the surface.
Agreed
I agree
Most Definitely Agree.
I love Colonial Williamsburg. We went there for our honeymoon and have been there several times since. It is a shame you didn't have time to go into the buildings, they are beautiful inside. I did want to point out that the buildings in Merchant's Square are not that old. They were built 30-40 years ago to blend in with the end of the Duke of Gloucester St. But there are so great shops there.
Visited 1966, our 6th grade summer vacation. Remember touring every building. Period dressed people everywhere. Enjoyed very much. Later, in 1984 took 4 yr old daughter to Virginia Beach. I returned with her and 4 of her friends when they were 15. They roller bladed from one end of boardwalk to other. Really good place to take the kids. Ready to go back as a retiree.
Thank you for sharing your memories Jane
Thanks for taking us along. Take time to enjoy the trip for you two. Safe travels. God bless!
You must go back when the shops are open!! The history is amazing!! Been there twice. You can see actual crafts beginning made and eat in taverns. The church is amazing. You can sit in pew that George Washington sat in on Sunday!!! You can go to a witch trial! Soo amazing.
It is such a blessing you all can travel like that. Oh my what a blessing.
They have restored them, painted them to look presentable to the tourists, but there is still history in these buildings. I am glad you two enjoy your visit!
Hey kids! Next time you go to Colonial Williamsburg, stay in a Historic Home right in the middle of the village. Itâs a wonderful experience. Visit the historic triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. I used to live in Yorktown. We now live in California, before covid we would visit the historic triangle and always stay in a Historic Home. Love to eat in a different tavern each evening. Take your time and enjoy!
Thank you đ Diana
You missed a chance to see some mind blowing stuff. I spent hours in the gunsmith shop, was fascinated by them taking a flat piece of forged metal, and eventually turning it into a rifle...at by hand.
The Blacksmith was also top notch.
Iâve not dined there in decades, so canât speak to the food.
Itâs definitely an all day experience plus, for history buffs. Nice part is itâs included in the historic triangle of Yorktown and Jamestown.
The haunted ghost tour is a spectacular opportunity as well.
Wow đł I've been to Williamsburg so many times they used to have alot of people in costume ..it really is worth going on the tour..when you have time..my favorite Colonial structure is Thomas Jefferson's home.. Monticello in Charlottesville..that's just down the road from me..also love Virginia Beach â±ïž..great places to eat and at Christmas you can drive on the boardwalk..and they show moving Christmas lights..very whimsical and beautiful..anyway enjoy your time in Virginia..I â€ïž this State !!!!!
Thank you đ Sherry
that was fun, you did a good job riding the bull Dawn and that's a cool historic town thanks for sharing, really nice that the hotel has every room on the beach front
Hi Joy
@@smokymountainman4964 hi SMM
Yes! lol
I loved seeing Dawn ride the bull as well. It made me laugh and put a smile on my face.
That was so relaxing. A d sooo much fun .
Looked like a great time thanks for taking us along
Christmas time is nice too. Make sure you get to Jamestown, historic town of Smithfield, peanuts and ham!!
I enjoy going to Colonial Williamsburg, I really enjoy watching some of the demonstrations where they print on the old manual printing press, make bricks, etc. I did the ghost walk and got to be a juror during a witch trial, don't forget the museum . If you get the chance, you need to go on the 4th of July for the fireworks show. You should also do the Historic triangle which Yorktown and Jamestown.
Thank you for the suggestions đ Ken
đ
I love Cornelius Williamsburg in there many many times. Shame that you didnât go into the houses for the tour. You should go back to Christmas time and see it all decorated. Itâs gorgeous.
You need to pop into York Town and Charles county plantations
Love, Love Williamsburg. Growing up in Virginia, my dad felt his children needed to know and experience everything about the history of Virginia. Last June for our Anniversary, Ron I stayed in the old town at the Fife and Drum Inn. Very unique and wonderful place. The only downfall is, there was not a elevator and being that Ron was just getting his strength back from his brain surgery the steps to our room was a little steep but we enjoyed everything else about the Inn. Enjoy our beautiful state of Virginia! â€ïž
Thank you for sharing your memories Ron and Connie . We can relate with you on the hotel experience with no elevator đ The hotel we were in had no elevator last night
This looks like a fun trip. I wish you could have pointed out the Naval base which houses the east coast Navy Seals. Have a safe trip
Williamsburg is such a wonderful place. The next time that you go there you need to get the pass. It is well worth it. You can go in all the historical buildings and take part in a of the living history presentations. The buildings inside are incredible and the demonstrations are very interesting. You also have to eat in a colonial tavern. We have done that 3 times. It is a reay neat experience. We have been to Williamsburg several times and there are still things we have not seen. I have never been to Virginia Beach but it looks like a beautiful place. You motel room on the ocean was very nice. I loved watching Dawn ride the bull. Thst was very funny. Enjoy your road trip.
Thank you đ Smokey Mountain Man
You will have to come back and see stuff, it is amazing!! The food is great!!!

It is so beautiful there
Thanks for taking us along. I love to see different places but we canât travel much right now. Gas so costly and food is too. So I love going along with you here. Thanks so much, Will and Dawn đđ»
Thanks for the overview of Williamsburg. I lived there for two years...a very special place to me.
Thank you for taking us along. Iâd love to see it some day.
Colonial Williamsburg is so awesome. Only 88 of the buildings are original. The governors palace and the capital building are reconstructions. But overall it is worth taking the tour of the buildings. One of my favorite places. Will and Dawn you should definitely come back and tour the buildings. And have a meal at one of the taverns.
Virginia Beach is one of my favourite places! Since Dawn loves biking so much, you guys should try renting a tandem bicycle and cruise the boardwalk. Itâs so much fun!
Thank you for sharing đ Trina
When I went to Colonial Williamsburg, I spent a long time talking to a Ben Franklin character.
We loved watching you tour in our backyard. We watched a ton of your videos preparing for our Smokey Mountain vacation 2 years ago and last year on the NC side. My son thought it was so cool to see you in areas we go all the time. It sure was a hot weekend.
Thank you so much Veronica
Great job on the room at Virginia Beach!!!!! Ocean front!! I'd leave my window open so I could hear the ocean all night!!!!! Agggggg!!!!! Dawn on the bull!! Brave girl!!!!! Love it!!

Got a kick out of Dawn riding the Bull, look like fun đ
Love the area . Come back at Christmas time! My daughter moved to Dinwiddie Va - which is 40 Miles south of Richmond. Her engagement pictures were taken in Virginia Beach. Lots of civil war history in Richmond
Nice vid guys! 83 bucks a night is pretty good nowadays!!!đđ
Thank you đ Loran
We were there for our 25th anniversary. We ate at the Kings Arms Tavern where food was prepared using recipes and spices from the colonial period. This is a great place to visit. It is worth a return visit when you have more time.
I donât know if yâall are still gonna be at colonial Williamsburg today (Saturday may 21), but theyâre doing their annual drum and fife grand march. Supposed to be fife and drum groups from all over the country there!
Beautiful place thanks for sharing
Why go to Williamsburg if you don't want to enjoy the environment.
Seriously! Usually love their vlogs but was very disappointed with their lack of enthusiasm for the history!! They should have gotten the pass!
I love Colonial Willamsburg. To walk in the same steps as Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. I love history.
You guys should get on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stay at the Peaks of Otter. It is a real throw back. The only accommodation on the parkway.
Love thT area
Another great tour, I haven't been to Williamsburg , but would love to go. Virginia Beach was cool
Thanks for for sharing
We're going in June! Love Williamsburg!

Most of those mechanical bulls If y'all can stay on them about 30 sec ur good . Most ppl cant stay on them over 2 min . unless they are experienced Bull Riders . And a Bull Rider only has to ride til the buzzer hits 8 seconds .
Thanks Ruby

I'd love to see Colonial Williamsburg in person someday. If only the walls could speak the history. I've always wanted to go to Viginia Beack also. I'm happy you're having a great time!! Looks like I get to live a lot of bucket list things thru you two. Thank you much!!!
Love Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Going next month
I wouldnât be brave enough to ride a bull. Good job dawn.
Thank you đ Ashley
What a lot of people don't realizre is that only 88 buildings are original. Those were restored and the rest were receated starting in In 1926 funded by John D. Rockefeller Jr.
We are watching this video right now. Have you ever heard of the Angel Oak Tree in Charleston, SC? You need to look it up online or on CZcams and go visit it one day. It's so awesome! So huge and beautiful and old. We made a detour a few years ago on our way to Edisto Beach and it was so worth it. :)
Hope yâall get a chance to go across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel!! Itâs really cool! Love watching all of your adventures!!
I am hoping that they do that too. We have done it a few times.
Stay tuned đ Kim and Nancy K
Williamsburg is so pretty. Years ago my Aunt taught there before you had to pay to go into the buildings. It was really nice then. The beach is beautiful. Have fun and be safe

I loved this video!
I live in Virginia Beach and we go up to Williamsburg every now and then, especially in autumn and the week after Thanksgiving. Early December is a lovely time to visit Williamsburg as they have fewer crowds and they use beautiful natural decorations on the homes for the Christmas season.
Loved Dawn's photo op with the VW bus and her attempt at the mechanical bull âđ
Cheers and safe travels
