This is a showcase video of version 2.0, of my Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Definitive Edition+ is ROM hack that serves as a vastly improved version of the original Definitive Edition hack.
This hack has a myriad of improvements, such as bug fixes, Quality of Life, and rebalancing changes to create the best way to play Dawn of Sorrow.
Check out the readme TXT or the PDF within the 7Z archive for a list of every change made from the original Definitive Edition hack and in the added Definitive Mode of v2.0, excluding very minor changes like the de-capitalization of a letter or the removal of an extra space, or just summarizing some of the changes for the sake of not making the readme longer than it already is. (^^;
There are many patches in the 7Z archive, the Main Patches that include the Definitive Edition+ patches along with the Definitive Mode ones, and the Optional Patches which are miscellaneous changes that can be applied to a Dawn of Sorrow ROM with one of the main patches already applied for some customization options.
This hack only needs to be patched to a clean ROM of Dawn of Sorrow with a ROM patcher compatible with XDELTA3 files. - Hry

Hey, not sure if I asked you already, but posting here anyway: could you list Anonymous in the credits of the README? The original Definitive Edition prepatched ROM was uploaded anonymously on an imageboard, see. While others have definitely made some improvements since, I still think it'd be appropriate to include crediting Anonymous, pointless as it may be.

Now Soma's portrait looks so much better! He doesn't look grey anymore, that always bothered me about the Ayami Kojima's portraits, glad it's fixed now.

So in vanilla dawn of sorrow, there were items exclusive to hard mode. Are there still items that are exclusive to hard mode in definitive edition+?

I'm not complaining that Yoko looks what she looks now in Aria of Sorrow but the default one looks cuter but storywise, this one suits better. And damn Celia looks hot now 😂
This is so amazing. I'd buy this if this was copied in a DS cartridge.

I’m loving the new portraits but they still feel off, and I realized what it was, there is a sort of style clash in that the art style itself is clearly the original Aria of Sorrow, but the colors are the more vibrant Dawn of Sorrow’s, you can especially see it with darker skinned characters like Hammer, compare his Aria of Sorrow sprites and you’ll see even his skin uses brighter colors more befitting of the gothic art style, I feel if the portraits can be updated to have said brighter colors and consistent contrast then they’d be perfect

@@Leonstd the art style of aria is way better. It’s gothic and serious- fitting for castlevania. But then the dawn portraits have expressions. Soma and Julius look very weird in dawn tho ngl
I’m fine with both the Aria portraits and Dawn Portraits.
However, i’m still curious about what Dawn would be like if it had Aria’s portraits, but with expressions like in Order Of Ecclesia.

So hi, one of the four people who actually liked the Seal Drawing, yeah that Optional Patch to re-enable? Doesn't work. I tried applying it after applying the Definitive Edition+ patch that has Definitive Mode, Full with the Dignity Art and for some reason it still autodraws all the seals. Four separate times and every time I got to Yoko to get the first seal to test, it would still draw it for me. And I know I installed other optional patches the right way because I got Dual Slot Mode to work, and xDeltaUI said it patched successfully each time but idk why the Seal one doesn't work, any answers or advice on this please? I'm legit frustrated I can't get it to work.

so i download this patch, i was able to patch the original rom, with the other optional patches how many of them can i add to the patched rom? or do i have to start fresh with a new rom? this is confusing, like enable dual slot, movement speed increase, secret boots mode????? can someone please explain this to me how this works ?? the applying optional patches is new to me and i am new to rom hacks

Would it be possible to make an optional patch that edits the Valmanway so its last attack frame speed (002A) is the same speed as the rest of its animations (0002), as well as IFrames set to 04? This would remove its cooldown between usage and make it as good as it was in Symphony of the Night. I'd edit it myself, but DSVania Editor gives me an error when I try to extract the patched rom.

it would be nice to remove the timeout to activate the dash and activate it instantly at the same click speed as it is in SOTN. An option for the Black panther to be invincible when activated as well. other than that, excellent hack.
It would be cool if at some point Alucard's Hell Fire can be performed including Teleportation

HOLY FUKKK, i am on a binge mode playing every top rated side scroll Castlevania (starting at SOTN and later) almost done with dawn of sorrow, finished order of ecclesia and then going to finish the other last one on the DS, i am definitely downloading this game got daaaaaaaaam. Is there action replay codes with this version though for luck and money cheat?

I'd have to find a way to share the source folder privately, and even then, the current source ROM of the hack needs to be remade for v2.4, because of how limited the freespace is in it currently

I have it because of my dev save file, it isn't obtainable as Soma without glitches or cheats
Hey, I'm a bit confused because I use Drastic on my phone and i Don't know how to download it, the instructions aren't clear so could you please help me out?
You have to patch the ROM on PC, once patched, you can play the game with no problem.
I was tipped onto this by a user replying to me saying that I want to play on the RG351P but have issues there with the touch stuff. Does this patch make touch less relevant/removes it entirely? Specifically there's a part in the beginning where you're supposed to draw a seal iirc. Can't be done without touch and idk how to do it on the rg.

I have installed the definitive edition+, but the characters portraits didn't change. They have the classic art. Can you tell what could I have done wrong, please? I am from Brazil, thus my english is not that good.

I think that any laptop from the last 10 years can run this, but i dont kjnow if you can donload it if you have a macbook, because normally you cant donload this type of things in maac, but it seems that this is able, with the HDMI thing you shouldnt have any problems, and no,sadly you cant use a control

Be cool if the doppelganger soul was used to choose from soma or evil soma.
A "Dracula" silver soul is a better idea rather than using Doppelganger's soul... Like you just activate or deactivate the Dracula soul to get Dark Lord Soma's appearance

The only thing turning me off about this game is the constant sub menu item fiddling with that casino bling bling bling bling select and navigation sound. I'm an OG castlevania nerd with posters and collectibles so it's not just some random comments

I'm having problems trying to patch the game on my Android. I've downloaded a Dawn of Sorrow rom, downloaded the patches, went to UniPatcher and ROM Patcher, tried to apply the patch, but said: "internal error on XDELTA3".

It is. Using Twilight menu and this game works flawlessly
I started playing it (version 2.3) a while ago with twilightmenu++ on my modded 3ds and so far I encountered some serious problems: the game freezes constantly if I press B at the title screen or if the animated cutscene plays and it freezes randomly if I switch rooms. This last freeze happened in the room after the flying armor fight (where you find the claymore) and while I was farming skeleton souls in the room before the one with the big mirror and the line of zombies. Additionally, it freezed/crashed while I was at a save point trying to jump cancel with a spear. Have any of you had my same issues? If not, do you have any idea on why that happens? I would really like to play this hack so please let me know
please make a mod with Castlevania portrait of ruin, put a darker atmosphere in the game, I couldn't play it until today because I find the game without Castlevania aesthetics, without that gothic atmosphere present in the previous games and in the successor OoE . seriously, the game menus are blue and pink (?) this is not Castlevania style. please a mod for a darker portrait of ruin would be really nice.
