    The fact that Jason wanted to drum probably made Bonham feel like the worlds greatest dad. Bonham would be proud of his boy.

    All these people making comments about Jason not playing the shuffle. I don't get it. It's the shuffle to a tee. The syncopated hi hat pattern, open hi-hat on the correct beat, ghost notes....(which you can see the reflection of his left hand on the timpani). It's all there. I see more comments about him not having the power his dad had. Jason's technique allows him to hit hard without looking like Animal from the Muppets. John hit hard, and he had a great hand/finger technique when he wasn't flailing all over the place. Jason's is just different. Get over it. He is a phenomenal drummer and to have his name tied to the Led Zeppelin legacy is an honor any of us would be happy to have. It also brings unwarranted critisism.

      Tony R - I know, right? He has been playing drums professionally since he was 19. He has never been in as high profile a band as Led Zeppelin, but who has?
      He is an amazing drummer.

    • @jamesweldon9726
      @jamesweldon9726 Před 7 lety +9

      Tony R - Also, the ghost notes: of course you can't hear them live, but you would notice if they weren't there. Kind of why they're called "ghost notes".

    • @mxfxdlg
      @mxfxdlg Před 7 lety +11

      The beat was fine, It's an ambient recording. People who don't know music can't disect the patterns through the the muddied recording. In short. They're chatty little idiots who will never know music because they YAP too much, and don't listen enough. To hell with them.
      Wasn't that cool though!? Can you imagine Bonzo standing off stage watching his boy shred it? He'd be so proud.
      Way to go, Jason!!!

    Jason Bonham is carrying the torch; honoring his Father's legacy. He was a child when he lost his Father. He lives through his Father when he plays his music. (It's obvious!) How many people out there today honor their Mother or Father? He is making a living playing in a tribute band honoring his father and the music of Led Zeppelin. Everybody is entitled to an opinion. It's not Zep, but I appreciate Jason and the Musicians he plays with. When people stop paying $$$ to see them is probably a good time to quit. I have a strong feeling that Jason will perform and people will see him perform until he calls it quits. Cheers...

    This is a very difficult song to play as a drummer. It is very, very, very nuanced. Bonham was always labeled as a hard hitting Neanderthal drummer but the song showed his talent. Few, very few, drummers can capture that feel. His son nailed it 110%

    Whoever filmed this obviously has a thing for Jason. I understand, It's Jason's band, he got the people to play, as a tribute band. They are not trying to be The Zep, nor is he trying to be his father. I think his father would be proud of the drummer and the man he has become. Seen interviews, he comes off as very humble, despite the upbringing he had. His father would wake him up to play for his friends, Sir Paul, Paul Rodgers, Ozzy, etc.

I mean do you think he's attempting to recreate Led Zeppelin? No of course he bloody isn't. What he is trying to do is pay homage to the Legacy of his Dad,first for his Family,second for the World of Rock Music. If your Dad was the best steel welder,died too early but taught you his skills before he died,leaving you to carry on the Family legacy only for someone to come and slag you off how would you feel? Anyone who's seen Celebration Day knows that Jason has the chops to play all his dad's drum parts without any trouble. Which makes his take on Fool In The Rain all the more puzzling. Sure he's entitled to play his own interpretation, but the signature element of the drum part on this song is the Bernard Purdie half-time shuffle. Sadly this is a pale imitation without it.

    It must have been super hard not only loosing your dad, but your dad is considered a rock god if there is ever one. Massive shoes to fill. JB is always at the top of Best Rock Drummer lists and that won't ever change.

    He is playing a shuffle, anyone who says otherwise has no clue what they are talking about. It is in the same count and measures as the original. He is letting the ghost notes breathe a little more, and he isn't his dad. Sorry if he doesn't have his dads feel lol

  • @waltdombrowski3789

    Led Zeppelin of course was the ultimate band and no one can duplicate Bonzo. Jason is a good drummer but his father runs circles around him when it comes to speed and the power of his foot. For those for Zep fans, there is another cover band that really kicks some ass, Zoso. Saw those guys in Maryland and the drummer is pretty damn good but the guy who plays Page is fucking incredible. He has Page's moves down pat its like watching the Song Remains the Same in a live show.

    • @GeoZeppelin1979

      Walt Dombrowski I gotta disagree. His technique is dead on. He doesn't play with the tenacity of his father, but hardly any other drummer ever has. Jason is a world class drummer though. He has his father's style.

    I feel for Jason. He has to think of his father every time he picks up his sticks. Any other family, he would be the most talented drummer in generations. He will never get the acclaim he deserves. I am not sure he wants it, as he seems driven to keep his father's legacy alive, but he still deserves some acclaim. He is tremendously talented.

    What made Bonham unique was that he wasnt technically clean. He had raw talent. It was his little imperfections that really gave him his sound. He was just playing, he was playing for the sake of being complicated or technical like todays musicians
