last time I was this early Linus forgot his laptop in the rain
that was a while ago, you clearly aren't trying.
his train was left on his laptop. idiot.
Train?
john papple
WHAT????????????
Lay off the crack pipe John you're talking nonsense.
he left the rain in the laptop, get it right
its only a joke
Budget desk PC:
_CableMod will do custom lengths for us._
Because that's cheap.
the PC desk itself is meant to be budget, not the components in it
Well custom length cables from them while certainly not a cheap option aren't exactly very expensive either. In reality you would only need 3 custom cords. 24 pin, a dual pcie 6+2 pin and a plug for the motherboard power on the top left corner (Depending on whatever it requires) which would be 75$ without tax or shipping. Not super expensive depending on the budget you gave for the desk itself. Another option would be to simply plan around the lengths of cords you have on hand or can easily order online. You have to remember Linus likes to show the most balling way to do anything so this is more like a rough idea to show people than a step by step DIY. He's most likely going to stick insane non budget parts in there like a gtx 1080 + i7 6700k or maybe the extreme 58xx whatevers.
Kensung
I would just buy the connectors on digikey and make them myself for $10.
I would scrap together cords from PSUs that shit themselves... my friends and family seem to have a curse... (then again they are from 5-6 year old Dell/HP prebuilts)
*****
Yeah, I may do that. I could use the sheath from para-cord as cable sleeving!
seeing all the love and care put into this table hurts so much knowing where the table is now…
where is it ?
Your dad is the real MVP!! What an awesome guy! Now I will have to build a desk pc with my dad just because he thought this video was awesome :) -Thanks alot Linus Tech Tips!
Next up: Ultimate DIY Bath Tub PC
made with dodgy Chinese components vetted by BigClive
That would be a shocking video.
They had the server room for that
I might have to do that next...

at least still LTT
I don't want tips from Linus on how to deal with my wood?!
LinusToolTips
Linus is Tim Allen and Luke can be Billy Mayes
LinusTableTips Part 2
Having a passion for woodworking and PCs its great to see them together!
"Where's the power supply going?"
"I don't know."
Haha, not the best conversation to have after already building most of the desk. Regardless, great video as usual. Thanks for sharing.
Jesus fuck Linus do you have enough LTT edition Noctua fans.
That are the important questions
So that's why they're never available anywhere.
TMRaven did you see the bucket in the background full of them?
no one else bought them. so he has ALL of them.
You should probably pre-drill MDF and use screws, wood glue can start to let go before long. Since you paint MDF, using screws isn’t an issue as you can putty and then paint over them. Anyway cool project, just needs to be held together ;)
I pointed that out to my wife as soon as I saw it, they didn't even use biscuits, it's just flush glued.
I’m super late lol. I can guarantee this thing didn’t last two years. Completely held together by glue lmfao.
@@skilleyskillz9221 I mean its been 3 years an he still uses it soooo......
Whats crazy is we all thought this about the glue but this desk has been moved all over and its still together and being used in his office hahaha
Cabinet grade plywood would have been way better. It could look really nice with a stain too. Also, with cabinet grade plywood, as long as you don't get too close to the edge, you don't have to predrill it, because the plywood is a lot harder than MDF.
Was excited for this series, feeling is now waning.
"This chair's a little tall."
-Is sitting on a step ladder-
Just had an epic idea!! Make a desk like this but have one end an Intel/Nvidia build and have the other end be the AMD/Radeon build!! Then water cool and LED/RGB the whole thing. Freaking epic!!!
P.S. When I finally get my own place a PC-in-a-Desk will be the first piece of furniture I add along with a wall-mounted 1440p 144hz monitor!!! :)
Why?
I mean why do you want intel and amd together? They shouldn't coexist
Well I was just thinking how cool it would be to have two different PC's in one desk and having two Intel PC's would be boring and repetitive. You could use it for benchmarking and stuff. I'd use my Intel PC for gaming and editing and my AMD PC for multimedia and word processing, etc. I would also have two monitors so I could use them side-by-side.
The AMD with red led lighting and the Intel/Nvidia with blue lighting and the Intel one would also be a hackintosh. That would be pretty amazing. Work, gaming, business, editing...
OMG!!! :) That would be the most wicked themed RGB lighting system ever. Green and red for AMD and Nvidia. Maybe blue for Intel or would that be overkill? Could be a Christmas themed desk since Winter is coming! :) (anyone get the pun?)
Hey you could put some black rubber where the wood is sticking out larger than the glass!
Like www.rollsheetrubber.com/file/37dd2741-846d-40f3-9886-45f74777bc26.jpg but in another form!
Out of context, that sounds really kinky.
"I'd put that rubber around my wood"

You're lucky to still have your dad with you....I lost mine last year atonly 28. It's not fair, but I understand that now. It's taken a year to get over the overwhelming grief of losing a dad who was also my closest and best friend, but I managed. Nice project man.
but will it run chess in smooth 30fps?
Patrick Star on 480p low but only 20 fps.
can the rx 480 run games in 480p???????
not cinematic enough. It will run at exactly 24.1fps at 720i
@@maddie4801 not quite
The only way you could play chess on that pc desk is to buy a chess set and sit it on the desk pc.
Can I skip the glass please? I just HATE glass tables
Kinda defeats the whole point of this kind of build...
Are you actually going to try to construct that >.>
I'd suggest a 12-15mm thick plywood if you want to skip the glass. Make sure you seal it with a decent wood treatment to prevent any soaking of drinks, etc.
Why does is defeat the point? I hate cases with glass as well. Don't have to look at my components or lights and want a sleeker design. Same when I would build a desk.
transparent acrylic surface then :)
I'd never tell that he is Linus' dad. He's much more manly.
A gym membership would do wonders for linus
Pumping iron would be stupid for a badminton player.
He's not wearing sandals with socks. He can't be Linus's dad...
Oh snap
Rafal Gawinski He has three healthy children and a successful marriage and business. He's pretty damn manly, I think.
That huge box of LTT coloured Noctua fans in the background makes me drool.
It's awesome that you guys decided to do this
Imagine if you kick one of those legs while rage quitting
Hugh Mungus this man just sexual harassed me
Hugh Mungus what?
Chris?
Then your leg would hurt... Don't underestimate good wood glue!
Don't overestimate mdf.
I almost forgot how Linus used to always reach under the table to pet the kitty every 5 seconds.
That's what she said
Literally one of the most creative and all around bad ass coolest thing I've ever seen from LTT. Second is whole room water cooling and a fridge PC... Even though it failed
I've been building/making/things for years.
You guys did a fantastic design/build :)
Love your channel
"We have a cut-off saw and a table saw"
Shows clips of a jigsaw and a circular saw.
I know I'm a bit late to the party but that is a Miter Saw
Technically every saw they use in this would be a table saw since they're using it to make a table.
@@flamingmoose1479 *holy shit*
Shhhhh most people who watch this dont go out side a lot (me lol but I do know what they are)
well, they Canadian, so maybe they call it something different.
THIS is the type of content I am looking for...
Aww this was a really sweet collab. Even its slight wonkiness in the end is kind of endearing.
I love this kind of video! I love 2 things in this world, building things and computers!
can i eat it
Gavin Scherer yes
Yes, you can eat Linus' D
Jack Hallonquist lol like u can talk
No I think you're forgetting about them kids in Africa, they need to eat it more
no one need more food than doge!
I don't think this table will last very long, since you only glued them together on a very small surface area.
(They should have used wooden biscuits, Screws and the glue, only then the Table won't come apart. As it Stands now, i only need to kick it once to send to oblivion.)
Nice name ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Dude super dad to the rescue. Your dad is pretty rad man reminds me of my own.
Linus! u rock! but ive been waiting for the part 2 of this vid. so please, upload it already!!!
more power!
EEAARRRLLLLLYYYY
I know no one cares...
Yeah.
Also first to finish the video since i watched it on 2x speed.
Nuuuu...
Aw, Ty
Joshua Giesbrecht +1 joke
This is fun, I watch a lot of woodworking CZcams channels where the end product is a perfectly designed item, pre-planned and totally thought out from the start with razor sharp cuts and perfect joints.
Watching a bunch of smart non-woodwork people figure it out is great - if I were building my own PC desk, this is pretty much how the process would go too.
Although... why isn't the motherboard IO and video coming out the back of the desk? I'm not sure I'd want video cables coming out the side when my monitors are at the back. I'd also build in a power strip to plug monitors, etc into to remove that annoying mess of power leads that sits under every PC desk.
hm, you could if you left enough space at the back of the system to have cables come out the bottom rather the back i guess?
not as convenient though.
Good idea to have a built-in power strip. Computers used to be made so the monitor's power plugged into the back of the power supply. I'm thinking of the old IBM XT's that were in my high school in '91.
A desk is so much of a clutter catch-all that it would be better to design this to hang on the wall until you want to use it and then you pull it down to desk form when you need a desk. That will keep the clutter off it. ;)
A great Father's Day video. Dad saves the day.
More stuff like this please! :) Found it to be very inspirational right when I was looking for inspiration!
I want Linus' dad to be a regular in their videos now.
Linus's dad giving DadTechTips to LinusTechTips about some DeskTips
Your dad is a GREAT carpenter. I wish I had is craftsmanship skills.
I like that you involve your family in the build, nice to see 🙂👍
Please publish part 2, we have already waited two freakin weeks and it's just too exciting to letting us wait any longer :(
This idea is.cool, but it seems impracticle
First rule of being a PC enthusiast: Don't think about practicality. If it's cool, DO IT!
Since when has "practical" been part of PC enthusiast vocabulary?
I see myself doing it. My dad loves making tables I like building PCs. I'll make it a bit smaller
K
Your mom is impractical**(* Y *)**
Man greetings from Portugal thia os the project i was looking for .
Continue the great job mate , love your videos
This video inspired me to incorporate a budget build myself so I tried it and uploaded it ;). Thanks Linus
3:16 Yo that's a mitre/chop saw.... Not a table saw lol
4:30 and that's a table saw.
Its a jig saw
Woodepic Media yup. Oh well, they do tech and not woodworking
Jigsaw and Mitre Saw, not a Cutoff Saw and Table Saw.
HELL YEAH! SAAAAAWWWWSSSSSSS
Glue can outperform screws and nails, in some conditions. Not with MDF. I'm amazed your dad let you build the whole thing with just glue.
I really want to see the part 2 of this awesome video.
Very Good Computer Table Construction . Dad and I made a table for College a long time ago . I placed my Desktop Pc on top of it .
Can't wait for part 2: "Whoops, I dropped the glass."
Who else is here after the new one was announced.
I do be here because of that
Superbob me
Same tho
fucking gotem
Everyone it's quite impossible to be here before now isn't it ?
A desk PC will be my third PC for sure. In. A few years. Literally just got a new one 3 days again
I've been thinking about and designing one of these for myself for over a year now. Good thing my dad works for Guardian glass and can get me a piece any size, shape, cut, color shade, and edge I want for like $5-$20! I never realized how expensive glass is to order custom if you don't have an in somewhere.
Not sure I'd be comfortable with a glue-only solution in such an expensive desk.
*Expensive hardware* Desk can be built for $100
Yeah, if anything, I would have at least used a few screws to tighten down the bond of the glue. gravity isn't the best clamp in the world.
glue bonds wood together better than screws or nails
UnAnonymous lol
Benjamin Wright the hardware seems more expensive than that....
Linus , when are you going to have the part 2 for this video ?
thank you thank you linus I have been looking for a good desk diy you got my sub :)
Love these types of videos
Wait... it's been a month and no part 2? FeelsBadMan
He realized he was too much of a dumb ass for not planning shit before he did them XD
JayDee part to is here
a 1/4" rabet around the top would hold ur glass in place and also make it flush
OMG!!! L00K at all the expensive stuff he has behind him, when his Mother is talking!!! Linus, You should GIVE AWAY you're older builds to Viewers!!!
Man i cannot wait for the new 1U desk they have been planning on building !! :)
Any ETA where the part 2 will be uploaded?
Linus,
Is there even going to be a finale video ? Love the building projects!
Hey Linus, don't know if you're still looking here but for clearing up those face up edges/imperfections another fairly easy method that people also use for hiding plywood edges is using a thin layer of spackling and then sanding it lightly with a fine grain. Works fairly well in my opinion. Cheers. \o/
You're the best Linus! i watch your videos everyday! goodluck buddy! :)
This time I'll use woodprix to make it by my hand :)
Superb!
🖤🖤🖤
Thanks Shantay. I love it 💝
@@callihanhopwood6255 Perfect also to me :)))

@@Freaky_zy It is !
What happened to this? I was really excited for part two but it never came out.
another alternative on wood: if you have access to a wider range of wood working related tools(planer, jointer and the large gluing clamps), you can pretty well save all cost on wood if you use pallets. Well picked ones can turn out surprisingly nice :p not to mention it is quite fun building a desk/table this way.
I used a kitchen worktop to build my desk. Gives a real nice finish, much thicker and was not too much more than sheets of mdf / ply
When is part 2 going to be up.
Waiting for the 2nd part.....
Now that's an epic saw that the home depot was using. I'd love to use something like that.
Where's the part 2 Linus!?? I've been eagerly waiting to see the finished product
Better release the part two tomorrow and not a week later.
Nissan Karki It's been a month, vessel is dead.
What's the difference between Valve and LinusTechTips? Valve can count to two.
i like that you left the leg bit in
After watching this video, i decided to drop the tower that i was originally intending to use for my first pc build, and instead will be attempting a built in desk. Sadly i wont be able to copy 90% of this build, because of preferences in both hardware and the physical desk shape. But thank you Linus and friends for giving me the inspiration for something amazing
When will be the part 2 be out?
Is there second part to this video?
Love the details and design Linus! My desk PC not that big or powerful.
Priceless father son project.
when will part 2 come out?
will there be part 2 ?
amazing job guys, will try to do the same, hardware will be cheaper of course :D But I hope still good staff I will get with my budget.
Thanks for videos like this.
Looks like your pops was the real hero here!
Still waiting for part 2
Awesome project, but I'd be a little concerned about the heat from the PC messing with the glue long term.
Definitely want to see a today redo of this
A cool build; I like desk builds like these. Good idea for Budget situations going fairly cheap! Heaviest desk ever though. 3/4" MDF is HEAVY.
hi linustech tips are you doing a part 2 as would be nice to see finish thanks its also looks good nice work
So how will this be different from other water cooled desks?
Also you could add some of that trim that your dad put on at the end to create a Lip that fits around the outside of the glass (or router it so it fits under and around), it would cover the edge, look intentional and prevent the glass from sliding around.

price, custom height, and custom desk
Robert Willgens
OK then, how is it different then every other custom DIY desk?
This was the video that made me start watching linus
Serious piece of kit!!
when will part 2 come out
Huh. Do I hear background music in this video, or am I imagining things?
To make the voices/music stop? =P
Triggered me way too much. Probably just someone's spotify that wasn't turned off when they were shooting the video
Pierre Le Fevre They accidentally dropped the random music into the video. But instead of deleting the music or replacing it with the correct background music, they just turned it down to almost inaudible levels. Like no one would notice!
In case you were wondering, the first song is Some Kind Of Magic by LVTHER
TheBaconatorNation Good ears!
If you don't care about looking at the PC you can take the easy way out and get a 1U , 2U or 4U housing and mount it under your desk bottom side up and use it with or without a lid to hold all the parts for your PC. they can be modded to work with what ever you need them to fit and give a solid base for a desk PC just remember to mount it with the IO shield facing to the back of your desk to mount all the cables .
Aw your dad has the best old man voice
A false bottom inside the desk would have helped cable manage better.
where is part 2? still waiting.
when is part 2 coming? because it is really entertaining to watch
amazing video love how loud the millennium line is or expo line whichever one. the sounds of my childhood
