Johnny Jacobs is the off-camera announcer heard on the first four intros. He and Eubanks worked together for 15 years on various shows--mostly Chuck Barris productions--and they owned a radio station in Stockton, California for a time. Jacobs died in Stockton at 65 in 1982.

Back when I was in college, I kid you not -- where I went to church at the time (Second Baptist Church of Springfield, MO), the guy who was the worship leader there at the time looked and even sounded a lot like Bob Eubanks.

1:32 RIP Nipsey Russell. One of the funniest people to ever live.

I remember a promo for RHYME AND REASON on ABC which had Nipsey Russel, the Poet Laureate of Television, reading a rhyme, "Will sex still be great when I'm ninety-eight--" and shortly after watching that a few times I would repeat that phrase over and over being quite the undiagnosed autistic at the age of eight. That drove my middle-aged, narcissist abuser mom crazy and told me rather angrily that she didn't want me saying it ever again. So seeing Mr. Russell in this clip brought back those memories with my mom who was really just an angry shrew.

I remember Nipsey’s completion of that rhyme: “It might be, but I won’t participate!”

With all due respect to the other hosts, when I think "game show host", this is the man I always picture.

You should do Peter Tomarken next followed by Chuck Woolery, Jim Peck, Bob Goen, Jim Lang, Monty Hall and Peter Marshall. I can't think of anybody else after that.

Very good. But why the 1985 pilot of Card Sharks? Why not an actual episode with the actual dealers, Lacy Pemberton and Suzannah Williams?

Newlywed game always seemed like a low budget affair, heavily limited to the Los Angeles area, with a cheap set and cheaper prizes.
